Neon Trees have reached the topo of the chart in their 23rd week in the top 40. It was a slow mover, but "Everybody Talks" gives the band their first #1 on the Hot AC chart, This bests their #2 peak for "Animal" back in 2010.
Train rides into the top 10 this week with "50 Ways to Say Goodbye." The song moves 11-9 this week. This is Train's 12th top 10 hit and their 6th in a row. Their last single "Drive By" peaked at #2 back in April.
Thanks to a recurrent purge there are 3 top 20 entries this week. British singer-songwriter Alex Clare rises 21-18 this week with "Too Close." This is Alex's first crack at the top 20.
Linkin Park make their return to the top 20 as "Burn it Down" rises 23-19 this week. This is the band's 4th top 20 hit. They peaked at #11 with "Waiting For the End" back in April 2011.
The last top 20 entry this week is Christina Perri's new single "Distance" with Jason Mraz. I saw Christina perform a few weeks ago and she explained the collab came about when Jason surprised her at a show while she was singing this song, he came out singing along with her. The surprise performance resulted in a re-recording and now it's her 4th top 20 hit. Her last single "A Thousand Years" which peaked at #7 back in April.
There is a huge debut this week coming in at #24. It's the new single from Ryan Tedder and OneRepublic. "Feel Again" is the first single from their upcoming 3rd album. This is OneRepublic's 6th top 40 hit. They last charted with their #1 smash "Good Life" which topped the chart in August 2011.
Making their return to the chart at #38 is Aerosmith. "What Could Have Been Love" marks their first appearance on the Hot AC chart in 11 years! In the chart's 17 year history, this is their 4th appearance. They last charted with "Fly Away From Here" which peaked at #36 back in August 2001! Their biggest hit was their Armageddon smash "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" which spent 5 weeks at #2 back in September 1998.
Next we have Flo Rida at #39. "Whistle" debuts and I think I'll leave it at that. :) This is his 5th top 40 hit. He is currently sitting at #27 with "Wild Ones," which peaked at #18 back in June.
Alanis Morissette sneaks back onto the chart this week with "Guardian" at #40. The album was released last week, so that may have something to do with the return.
Gotye, fun. and Demi Lovato were all purged this week, resulting in new peaks for Ed Sheeran, Alex Clare, and Imagine Dragons.
