I have a question. Recent American idol winner Laine Hardy will be making his first country album with Hollywood records. Have they ever had any success with a country artist.

I don't know if Hollywood Records itself ever had any real success with country acts, but Disney used to run Lyric Street back in the day and they've had other forays into the country genre before either directly or indirectly, so I think it's possible. Realistically though, Idol hasn't produced a successful star in a long, long time though, so I doubt anything much happens with anyone who comes from the show these days tbh.

Looks like Gabby Barrett is off to a nice start. Although she didn’t win and isn’t tied to Idol anymore. I like the kid so hopefully they still can use some of those connections from when they had lyric street. He has a very unique and cool tone to his voice. If it doesn’t work with HR he is only 18 so I am sure he could get another opportunity down the line. Kind of what Scotty M has done.

Scooter Braun acquires Big Machine Records for 300 million dollars according to billboard.com. The Borchettas are certainly happy.

Twitter right now is running wild with people going hard after Scott Borchetta (it’s actually trending).

Wow, Taylor really laid it all out there and didn't hold back. I love the raw honesty and I feel for her in this situation because that is incredibly shitty. When the news broke that she'd walked away from Big Machine I was a little surprised by the move, but knowing the backstory to why that happened now, I can see why she did it. Yikes.

Scott's right on this one. Taylor could've gotten the masters if she wanted to. Excited to see what this new deal brings. Big Machine has always been my favorite country music record label and I think they'll continue to be a trend-setter for the country music world.

Not surprised. The band somehow “lost” the drummer and bassist in early BMLG promo stuff. They never really fit Nashville either. I look forward to their indie recordings.

I encourage everyone to read these interviews. Great stuff. Hits Daily Double sat down with Mike Dungan (UMG), Randy Goodman (Sony), John Esposito (Warner) and Scott Borchetta (BMLG). Hits Daily Double (“State of the State”)

New all-female based record label, “Songs & Daughters.” Partnership with Big Loud Records and Nicolle Galyon (Galyon will run the label). First artist signed is Madison Kozak, single is “First Last Name” which was produced by Joey Moi. No radio launch yet, however. Billboard

They have no immediate plans to promote Canaan or anyone else to radio right now, since they don't have a staff to handle that. They did mention that they would look to hire an outside service (such as New Revolution) or partner with another label to promote songs to radio. AWAL/Kobalt will handle distribution and marketing. This is similar to what Big & Rich did back in 2014, who also hired Kobalt for distribution. Kenny and John would hire New Revolution to promote the songs to radio, which FGL has not committed to, yet. I know Big & Rich were well off financially to hire New Revolution and I'm assuming FGL has enough in the bank to take on this kind of endeavor. The biggest difference is Big & Rich didn't have a label and they hired New Revolution and Kobalt to promote/market their own singles/albums. FGL is still signed to BMLG and that's who promotes and distributes their music. It's no surprise they're helping out a friend and someone who isn't too far away on the musical spectrum, like Canaan Smith. You saw Jason Aldean help out Tyler Farr by signing him to his own Night Train Records in a partnership with Broken Bow a while back. I'm assuming the other "three" acts that FGL hinted at with Round Here Records will share similar styles in music with them and Canaan Smith.

So, potentially, RaeLynn...
