They have no immediate plans to promote Canaan or anyone else to radio right now, since they don't have a staff to handle that. They did mention that they would look to hire an outside service (such as New Revolution) or partner with another label to promote songs to radio. AWAL/Kobalt will handle distribution and marketing. This is similar to what Big & Rich did back in 2014, who also hired Kobalt for distribution. Kenny and John would hire New Revolution to promote the songs to radio, which FGL has not committed to, yet. I know Big & Rich were well off financially to hire New Revolution and I'm assuming FGL has enough in the bank to take on this kind of endeavor. The biggest difference is Big & Rich didn't have a label and they hired New Revolution and Kobalt to promote/market their own singles/albums. FGL is still signed to BMLG and that's who promotes and distributes their music. It's no surprise they're helping out a friend and someone who isn't too far away on the musical spectrum, like Canaan Smith. You saw Jason Aldean help out Tyler Farr by signing him to his own Night Train Records in a partnership with Broken Bow a while back. I'm assuming the other "three" acts that FGL hinted at with Round Here Records will share similar styles in music with them and Canaan Smith. It’ll be people on their roster of writers at Tree Vibez. So, potentially, RaeLynn... The article mentions they don’t have to be on FGL’s publishing imprint but I would think at least one or two will end up on Round Here Records.

In label news, Carlton Anderson has parted ways with Arista Nashville. Also, Josh Phillips and Ronnie Dunn are no longer with Big Machine. Craig Morgan has signed with BBR Music Group (Broken Bow imprint.) With regards to Craig Morgan, does anyone know if it is only for a one single release or will he be releasing future music with BBR?

I don’t know for sure but I’m assuming it’s a one-song deal; that’s the sense I get talking to some folks. It very well could be a situation where Craig stays on just as a legacy act like Trace after this one single, but could also be done at BBR after “The Father, My Son, and the Holy Ghost” is finished at radio.

Cold River Records closing according to AllAccess. Good riddance after the fuckery that happened to Katie Armiger a few years back.

Johnny McGuire came out with his debut EP for BBR Music Group. It is being released through Stoney Creek. Does this mean he is signed to that imprint because on BBR’s website he is listed under BBR Music Group along with Chase Bryant and Brooke Eden.

He’s been with BBRMG as a solo artist since Walker McGuire broke up; they just never officially announced anything. He wanted to keep doing the artist thing, while Jordan Walker was content staying in songwriting. I’m assuming the Stoney Creek imprint will be the imprint promoting him since it’s the label credited with the EP.

I’m hoping that stint by Katie Armiger wasn’t a gimmick for her to get attention.

I’m hoping that stint by Katie Armiger wasn’t a gimmick for her to get attention. No way. None of the stuff she alleged should've even really came as surprise anyway, sadly. Female country artists are expected to push sex appeal to get anywhere in the boy's club that the radio industry has become. I'm glad it's finally been resolved at least, even though I imagine it's probably not the ideal outcome for Katie and her career was unfortunately derailed regardless.

Random question - maybe sabre14 has some insight? Is Kelleigh Bannen close to resigning somewhere? Or has she? She is on the Today Show tomorrow performing which seems like a pretty plum gig for an independent artist which had me wondering.
