Taylor Swift and 1989 continues to be a completely chart anomaly as Taylor snags two more records this week! "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" are no longer alone in the top ten. "Style" bolts up to number seven this week, marking three top ten entries for Miss Swift, making her the only artist to accomplish this feat! Several artists have snagged two in one week: Lorde, Ke$ha, P!nk, Nicki Minaj, just to name a few. Even Taylor herself had done that prior to "Space" and "Shake." However, Taylor kills it with three this week. She also scores two new top 20 entries this week with "Bad Blood" and "Out of the Woods" joining the three top tens and "Wildest Dreams," marking her sixth top 20 entry from 1989 and sixth current top 20 entry. 1989 now becomes the album with the most top 20 hits and Taylor becomes the artist with the most top 20 entries at one time! The record was previously held by Lorde with four with "Royals," "Team," "Tennis Court," and "Buzzcut Season" (Taylor tied that record last week when "Style" entered the top 20). "I Know Places" also gains into the top 30 this week. Could it also enter the top 20? That'll be interesting to see. And the 1989 tracks just aren't dying anytime soon. "Wildest Dreams" landed at #11 this week, one spot outside the top ten! Imagine if Taylor snagged four top ten entries next week?!

The crazy thing is, though, is knowing that there's really no other artist that could possibly rival Taylor right now for #1 artist of 2015... and it's only January. Unless Kelly Clarkson lays down some amazing album soon, Taylor's got it in the bag with only two months of data added in.

DEMI LOVATO TIES TAYLOR SWIFT WITH RECORD

On the December 7, 2014 chart, Taylor Swift scored a new record as "I Know Places" debuted, becoming the seventh song from 1989 to make the chart. This was a record for 1989 for the album with the most charting hits ever. Demi Lovato has now tied said record this week as "Nightingale" debuts, the seventh charting hit from Demi, an album that was released nearly two years ago. "Nightingale" follows the lead single, "Heart Attack," the second single, "Made in the USA," two album tracks that charted upon the album's release, "Something That We're Not" and "Never Been Hurt," and the third and fourth singles, "Neon Lights" and "Really Don't Care," which featured a guest verse from Cher Lloyd. "Nightingale" became a new promo single from Demi a few weeks ago with a really random music video release. Not that I'm complaining, as Demi ages, "Nightingale" was slowly becoming my favorite from the album, and now it finally gets a chance to make the chart! Of course, the feat of Demi is amazing, but 1989 will always be able to hold over it the fact that all seven songs that charted from it all charted at the same time.

The chart should be up sometime either tomorrow or Tuesday, but I do have the top 40 all made up.


-"Blank Space" hold onto to number one for a tenth week. Yup, you read that right. This makes "Blank Space" the third song to achieve such a feat, meaning it holds the record for longest stay at number one alongside Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" and Clean Bandit/Jess Glynne's "Rather Be."

-However, both "Style" and "Lips Are Movin" are closing in on the top spot. Both are over 20 points now, making this the first chart since December 28, 2014 when the entire top 3 were over 20 points.

-"Take Me to Church" and "Geronimo" entered the top ten.

-"Elastic Heart," "Heartbeat Song," and "Only" enter the top 20. Someone re-enters the top 20. I bet you can easily guess who.

-Four songs debut. They are from Zella Day, Fall Out Boy, Meghan Trainor, and Charli XCX. One of them enters in the top 30. The other three are in the 31-40 range.

-There are no longer seven tracks from 1989 charting. In fact, out of the four drop outs this week, only one of them isn't from Taylor. It's actually kind of sad to see. Only one non-single 1989 track remains. I bet you can easily guess which one.

12 weeks ago, Taylor Swift broke records by becoming the first artist ever to replace herself at number one when "Blank Space" took the number one from "Shake It Off." This week, Taylor Swift continues to dominate my chart as she becomes the first artist ever to replace herself twice at number one as "Style" takes the top spot away from "Blank Space." With "Style" taking the number one spot, the 1989 album secures its third number one smash, giving Taylor Swift yet another crowning achievement. 1989 is now tied with P!nk's The Truth About Love and Ke$ha's Warrior for most number one hits from a single album. This also becomes Taylor's fifth number one hit, meaning she alone now holds the record for most number one hits... ever. (She was originally tied with Ke$ha at four each.)

Taylor Swift also continues to lengthen her record for most weeks at number one by a single artist. In total, she has spent 32 weeks at number one on my chart split between five songs. Just recently, Swift has had a nearly uninterrupted run at number one since the November 9, 2014 chart. Had it not been for Ella Henderson's "Ghost" sneaking in a week at number one a week after "Blank Space" took it from "Shake It Off," Swift would have held the number one spot for a massive 16 weeks. (Still, 15/16 ain't anything to scoff at.) Also, after "Ghost," Swift has held the number one since December 21st, a massive 10 week in a row feat. "Style"'s reign is only going to lengthen these numbers.

Yes, that is "Blank Space" at number one... again. After letting herself replace herself at number one with "Style" last week, Taylor replaces herself at the number one spot AGAIN! This makes Taylor the first artist to replace herself at number one, as well as the first artist to do it twice, and the first artist to do it THREE GODDAMN TIMES. "Blank Space" also becomes the first song to have THREE runs at number one! Its full run at the top spot has been broken up by single week runs from Ella Henderson's "Ghost" and her own "Style."

The biggest news, though, is clearly the fact that this is "Blank Space"'s ELEVENTH week at number one. This means the long standing record of longest stay at number one, once held by Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," which was later tied by Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne's "Rather Be," is now solely held by Taylor Swift's "Blank Space." Rightfully, Taylor takes back this record after she solely held with the nine week run of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" prior to Miley's record breaking tenth week last December.

But some of Taylor's records might be threatened by none other than Nicki Minaj! Nicki Minaj entered the top 20 this week with "Get on Your Knees," securing her third top 20 entry currently. "Truffle Butter" is close to entering the top 20. Taylor hold the record for most top 20 entries in a single week with five. Nicki poses no threat to breaking that, but Nicki could break Taylor's record of most songs in the top 10 at once. Taylor holds that with three. None of Nicki's songs are currently in the top ten, but they are all inching closer towards it. Nicki has also secured five entries from her album, The Pinkprint, only two less than 1989. (The four that are currently charting plus "Anaconda.")

For the first time since December 14, 2014, a Taylor Swift song is not at the top spot! Ed Sheeran takes the number one spot claiming his first number one hit of his career. Taylor still owns two spots in the top five, though, with "Style" being right behind "Thinking Out Loud." Nicki Minaj also claims to top ten hits this week as "Only" and "Feeling Myself" both enter. "Only" leaps into the top five as well! Nicki is no stranger to having two top ten hits at once. She did it back in the chart's early days with "Turn Me On" and "Starships." Oddly enough, though, both of those were big pop hits. The two she's smashing with now are nowhere to be seen on top 40 playlists. (And, yes, I realize how late to the party I am with "Only.")
