I can definitely tell you that "Karaoke" and "I Really Like You" are both likely to see big jumps this coming week! Especially the latter.

I just had to make a comment here. I was looking at the playlist for KRBZ, an alternative rock station based out of Kansas City. I'm familiar with the station now that I've lived in the KC area for two years now, it is pretty popular amongst the college demographic. Though, I barely listen to the radio at all, I keep finding that my personal taste is starting to match with this station well. (KRBZ is well known for not closely following the trends on the alt chart).

Looking at their play list right now:
53 5 MUSE Dead Inside 37 9 28 0.1813 - Not on my chart yet, but was an add last week. Of course, this is an exception as Muse is huge in the alt world, so KRBZ is following in this sense.
11 7 ROBERT DELONG Long Way Down 33 29 4 0.152 - Has yet to hit my chart, but was added a while ago. At this point, I don't see it debuting, but I do like the song a lot. It ended up being a hit on the alt format.
18 9 MISTERWIVES Reflections 30 23 7 0.15 - KRBZ has been whoring this out for a LONG time now. The song has never quite taken off on alternative, but MisterWives are becoming VERY well known in the KC area.
5 12 IN THE VALLEY BELOW Peaches 28 32 -4 0.1512 - KRBZ was one of the first stations to start spinning this. In love with this song currently.
16 16 FLORENCE + THE MACHINE What Kind Of Man 26 24 2 0.1076 - Same as Muse.
20 18 ZELLA DAY Hypnotic 19 21 -2 0.0791 - This hasn't even gone for add on alternative yet, just triple A!

What I love about all of this is being able to look at my personal chart and seeing that, yes, the fact that I live in the Kansas City area plays a HUGE role in my music taste, and I love that! I have fallen in love with this part of the state. It just feels like... home. Like this is where I'm supposed to be. KC pride is strong with me nowadays, and seeing that it has become part of my music taste is awesome as well! I'm glad it's kind of to the point where someone could look at my personal chart and probably guess I'm from KC just based off of the list.

NICK JONAS UPSETS AT NUMBER ONE

All week long, I was expecting my newly achieves number one, Carly Rae Jepsen's "I Really Like You," to be very short lived. I was predicting a new number one for the 5/24 chart immediately after seeing the results of the 5/17 chart where Tove Lo's "Talking Body" zoomed to number two only 0.05 points behind "I Really Like You," the closest any top two has ever been for me! I predicted that Tove Lo would take the top spot this week. Instead, Nick Jonas comes out of fucking nowhere to snatch that number one with "Chains"! Had anyone told me that this would happen, I would have called them insane! Really, had anyone told me Nick Jonas would ever be topping my chart at all, I'd be laughing. Yet, here we are! "Chains" becomes the first song featuring a male vocalist to lead the chart since Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" earlier this year. 2015 now marks the first year that two male vocalist lead songs have hit the top spot! 2012 featured none, though it did have two males at the top with David Guetta's "Turn Me On" (with lead vocals from Nicki Minaj), Karmin's "Brokenhearted" (Nick doing back-up vocals, but Amy being lead). 2013 had only one male vocalist lead song with Neon Trees' "Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)," though in total that would make three males from the band plus a fourth with the Kaskade feature. 2013 also saw Nate Ruess hit the top spot with P!nk on "Just Give Me a Reason," the two male members of Paramore in "Still Into You," and the three male members of Echosmith in "Cool Kids." 2013 could be argued to have had two male vocalist lead songs with "Lessons in Love" and Nate on "Just Give Me a Reason," though P!nk has a lengthier amount of time on the song, thus making it a female lead song for charting stat purposes. 2013 is the first time two prominent male vocalists held the top spot, however. 2014 saw one male vocalist lead song in SoMo's "Ride." Though, again, males hit the top spot in Pitbull's "Timber" (the length rule again applies here with Ke$ha taking more time than Pitbull), R. Kelly in Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want," Juicy J in Katy Perry's "Dark Horse," Nick in back-up vocals once again in Karmin's "I Want It All," the three male members in Clean Bandit for "Rather Be" (Jess Glynne having lead vocals), and the male members of Paramore once again in "Ain't It Fun."

So this is quite a milestone in a predominately female dominating chart! Also, note that Nick's surge to number one is not the only thing keeping Tove Lo from the top spot! Kelly Clarkson also shocked and came out of nowhere to zoom four spots to number two with "Invincible"! The battle for next week's number one is going to be intense between a second week for "Chains" against a second week for "I Really Like You" against "Invincible" against "Talking Body," and it's definitely not out of the question to even see "Our Own House" zoom to number one next week!
