It's a double-digit run at #1 for Gotye, but can he fend off Maroon 5 much longer? The gap between the 2 shrunk this week and it's anyone's race for #1 next week
Cracking the top 10 is Taylor Swift with her #1 Hot 100 hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." This is Taylor's 5th top 10 hit. Her last top 10 was her #1 hit "Mine" which topped the chart in December 2010.
Tristan Pretty cracks the top 20 this week in only her second week with "My Oh My." This one is beginning to look promising. It's her first top 20 hit.
I know I skipped her, but here she is. Making an instant impact at #17 on the chart with only 8 adds and 3 days of airplay is the new Adele track "Skyfall." It's from the upcoming James Bond film "Skyfall" and it looks like it's not going to be falling anytime soon. This is Adele's 6th AC hit and her 5th top 20 hit. It's a bittersweet week as "Set Fire to the Rain" is purged this week, but "Rumour Has It" is still holding at #7.
Did Christmas come even earlier this year? Christmas mainstay Jim Brickman has a feature on the other debut this week. Let's meet Luke McMaster, but some of our Canadian viewers may have some familiarity with him. He was one half of the Canadian duo McMaster & james who had a few radio CanCon hits in the early 2000s. The duo split and Rob james went on to appear on Canadian Idol, while McMaster had a songwriting career. "Good Morning Beautiful" marks the debut appearance on any Billboard chart for McMaster. He enters the chart at #30 this week.
Set Fire to the Rain and The Wanted both go recurrent this week. As a result there are new peaks for Taylor Swift, Pink/ Owl City/Maybe and OneRepublic.
