This is what this thread is not about:
the urban remix of Richard Marx' Right Here Waiting, which added a funky beat and beefed up Luther Vandross' backing vocals
the Teddy Riley remix of Jane Child's Don't Wanna Fall In Love
or even
the Thinkin' Back remix from Color Me Badd's remix album, which several stations played when that album was released
I mean a BIGger gap from the original to the remix:
if I recall correctly (the first two I'm pretty sure of), these came courtesy John Garabedian's Open House Party:
December 1963 We Will Rock You In The Air Tonight
Then there was Pop Muzik, a completely pointless remix, except for near the end where they added the four-drumbeat outro to the "everybody talk about mmm pop muzik", which I still add to this day when I hear the original, either by beatboxing or pounding on the dashboard!
More recently there was Summer Breeze, which hit the AC Top 30, I believe.
What other examples am I forgetting?
Another caveat: not re-recordings, like I Melt With You, remixes, like Send Me An Angel.
