Since we are talking numbers, let Vantiboy count 'em for you What's hard about #s? [red]Question 1[/red] Isn't that, like, the point of the charts threads? [red]Question 2[/red] To look at #s?[red]Question 3[/red] I mean, I LITERALLY do not understand what is hard to get about a song's Hot 100 position & Digital position. Like, what is there even not to get?[red]Question 4[/red] Like, dude. Yeah. What what is there not to get?

It would be great if Diamonds could move up to #4 this week, but Die Young does have that streaming advantage. If not this week, hopefully next week if the airplay gap becomes larger. :)

Oh, I forgot about Girl on Fire having multiple versions, thus keeping Trouble from the T10. We're still left with only 7 that broke 100k.
We Are Never sold about as much as Love Story did the week after Fearless came out.

Maroon 5 Spends Eighth Week Atop Hot 100by Gary Trust, N.Y. | November 07, 2012 12:45 EST The group's 'One More Night' keeps PSY's 'Gangnam Style' at No. 2 for a seventh consecutive frame Like this week's other major popular competition, the incumbent remains in charge atop the Billboard Hot 100. Maroon 5's "One More Night" spends an eighth week at No. 1, fending off Korean rapper PSY's "Gangnam Style," which logs a seventh straight frame at No. 2. With its continued command, Maroon 5 doubles its previous longest Hot 100 reign. The group's "Moves Like Jagger," featuring Christina Aguilera, led the list for four weeks last year. (Its other No. 1, "Makes Me Wonder," ruled for three weeks in 2007.) Maroon 5 Plots American Tour With Neon Trees, Owl City The race for No. 1 wasn't as close as last week, when just 600 overall chart points separated "Night" and "Style." As "Night" declines by 4% in points and "Style" decreases by 9%, approximately 2,000 points separate the songs this week. Instrumental in "Night" remaining atop the Hot 100 is that it continues to gain in radio audience, while "Style" decreases in listenership for a second week. "Night" logs a fifth week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart with a 1% increase to 134 million all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. "Style" dips by 7% to 55 million, falling 13-14 on the ranking. "Style," meanwhile, maintains its No. 1 standings on the Digital Songs and On-Demand Songs charts, although it and "Night" both decrease in points on each survey. "Style" spends a fourth week atop Digital Songs, registering an 11% slide to 226,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It does, however, pass 2 million downloads sold to date (2.1 million). "Night" holds at No. 4 on Digital Songs, down by 6% to 134,000. On On-Demand Songs, "Style" leads for a fourth week with 867,000 on-demand streams (down 8%), according to BDS. "Night" dips 2-3 on the chart (785,000, down 6%). Obama On 'Gangnam Style': Yes I Can... Do That Dance The songs are the first to place at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, for seven consecutive weeks since Rihanna's "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, kept LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It" at No. 2 for seven frames last November/December (after which "Sexy" switched spots with "Love" at last). "Style" is the first song to spend seven weeks at No. 2 on the Hot 100 without rising to the summit (so far, at least) since Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" tallied seven (non-consecutive) weeks peaking in the runner-up spot in 2009-10. Below the week's most closely-watched campaign among chart pundits, fun.'s "Some Nights" holds at its No. 3 peak in its 37th week on the Hot 100. After the band performed the song (as well as new single "Carry On") on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" (Nov. 3), it lifts 3-2 on Radio Songs (100 million, up 1%) and bullets at No. 6 for a second week on Digital Songs (116,000, up 4%). With its latest weekly sales sum, "Nights" passes 3 million in sales since its release (3.1 million). Rihanna's "Diamonds" climbs 5-4 in its sixth week on the Hot 100 with top Airplay Gainer honors for a second week while adding the chart's top Streaming Gainer award. It rises 9-7 on Radio Songs (85 million, up 15%) and 6-2 on On-Demand Songs (807,000, up 18%). "Diamonds" holds at No. 5 on Digital Songs with a 1% loss to 121,000.) The song previews Rihanna's seventh studio album, "Unapologetic," due Nov. 19. Rihanna 'Unapologetic' Track List: Chris Brown, Eminem Featured Taylor Swift's former three-week No. 1 "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" ranks at No. 5 on the Hot 100, followed by Ke$ha's "Die Young" (4-6). Despite its positional retreat, "Young" pushes 5-4 on On-Demand Songs (781,000, up 11%) and bullets again at No. 11 on Radio Songs (71 million, up 8%). "Young" is the first single from Ke$ha's album "Warrior," due Dec. 4. Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" remains at No. 7 on the Hot 100 with gains in airplay and streaming. The song jumps 15-12 on Radio Songs (62 million, up 18%) and 37-22 on On-Demand Songs (432,000, up 19%). "Heaven," a non-mover on Digital Songs at No. 2 (149,000, down 7%), ushers in Mars' sophomore set, "Unorthodox Jukebox," due Dec. 11. Justin Bieber's "As Long as You Love Me," featuring Big Sean, slips 6-8 on the Hot 100, trailed by Alex Clare's "Too Close" (8-9) and Ne-Yo's "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)" (9-10). Although it falls one spot on the Hot 100, "Learn" advances 6-5 on Radio Songs (93 million, up 7%) and 31-27 on On-Demand Songs (411,000, up 3%). Check Billboard.com tomorrow (Nov. 8), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 and On-Demand Songs in their entirety and Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday. www.billboard.com/news#/news/maroon-5-spends-eighth-week-atop-hot-100-1008004152.story

Maroon 5 lost 6 million impressions on CHR and 3 million impressions on HAC while the spin losses didn't add up to the total spins they had the previous week. Looking at the total radio impressions given this week on this article I went the same one for last week's chart and I realised I was right with my remark Key to "Night" remaining atop the Hot 100 is that it continues to gain in radio audience, while "Style" decreases in audience for the first time. "Night" logs a fourth week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart with a 2% increase to 138 million all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. "Style" dips by 6% to 60 million, dropping from No. 12 to No. 13 on the ranking. What is even more weird to me is that the difference for Maroon 5 is just 4 millions when between HAC and CHR the song lost 9 millions in audience, so where did the song gain impressions to make for soften the difference ? I wasn't able to tell. If someone know which radio format did see its overall numbers go up this week that would explain how Maroon 5 and other artist didn't lose as much audience as they should have when looking at the main radio formats, please share informations you might have, I am interested in understanding the descrepancy.

Been a yawn since Billboard overly favored radio. At least we've had a few songs selling over 300k a week to shake things up a little.

"One More Night" doesn't feel nearly 'big' enough to be an 8-week number one. It has the same number of weeks at #1 as STIUTK, but about a quarter of the cultural significance.

With Ke$ha and Rihanna releasing their videos tomorrow, this might be One More Night's last week. At most one or two more.
Edit: We Found Love, ET widened its lead by a lot, Last Friday Night had a huge jump to #1 on digital songs, I think Bad Romance?

I was under the impression that music video boosts are rather minimal. I can't think of a time when a music video release sent a song to 1. ???

The *yawn*-time was in April-May when even the order in the top 10 was the same for 2-3 week in a row. Or that was in May-July?
Edit:

I believe Billboard might have noticed that this rule is not accurate and doesn't reflect what's the most popular song in the country in the week. So here's to hoping they change it!

Edit: ^^ ry4n: We Found Love? Hmm the video came out on 10.19.11, which reflects the week it jumped from #6 to #2 on the Hot 100, and then went #1 the following week. Last Friday Night did a similar thing, but that was stuck behind LMFAO for several weeks before it took the top spot. But that's all under the old formula. With airplay weighing so much now, and One More Night STILL gaining in that area, I don't think sales boosts are enough unless it sells 300k+ or something. But I think Bruno is going to be the next big #1, probably right through Christmas. Rih and K$ only have so long.

I believe Billboard might have noticed that this rule is not accurate and doesn't reflect what's the most popular song in the country in the week. So here's to hoping they change it! What rule? Why do you think they have noticed something like that? I mean, yeah sure, "Gangnam Style" is probably more talked about than "One More Night," but the fact of the matter is "One More Night" is strong in sales, streaming, in airplay. All three componenets of the Hot 100 are necessary and all three have different demographics of US citizens. "Gangnam Style" unfortunately is lacking in airplay. The callout scores for "Gangnam Style" are not that great, which is why it's not doing as well there. So, of course, the song that's strong in all three deserves the number one spot over a song that's only strong in two. I do agree that airplay should be reduced from 1.5 points per 1.000 million AI to 1 point per 1.000 million AI, but we also much realize that the chart is for people in the business. Which of the three components is the more important one in the business? Airplay. So I see why Billboard does it the way they have it. Eventually, though, I do forsee Billboard lowering the point value for airplay as airplay continues to slowly lose listeners to portable music players and streaming, but that may take a while. I do agree with the viewpoint, though, that "One More Night" does not feel as big as recent long-running number ones like "Somebody That I Used to Know," "Call Me Maybe," "We Found Love," and "We Are Young." To be honest, "One More Night" doesn't even feel like it's bigger than "Payphone." Oh well. That happens sometimes. The next number one will either be "Diamonds" or "Die Young." "Die Young" has the edge in sales and streaming at the moment, but "Diamonds" has the edge in airplay, as it will cross over into pop, rhythmic, hot ac, and urban and "Die Young" will only have pop, and decent amounts on hot ac, and decent amounts on rhythmic. "Die Young" could possibly make it up in sales, though. "Die Young" is selling VERY well, and the video boost is only going to help it. "Diamonds" is selling nicely too, but "Die Young" has been outselling it pretty nicely. However, "Diamonds" is right on "Die Young"'s tail in streaming, where both are doing exceptionally well sitting at numbers five an six respectively.

"Die Young" has the edge in sales and streaming at the moment, but "Diamonds" has the edge in airplay, as it will cross over into pop, rhythmic, hot ac, and urban and "Die Young" will only have pop, and decent amounts on hot ac, and decent amounts on rhythmic. "[Diamonds] rises 9-7 on Radio Songs (85 million, up 15%) and 6-2 on On-Demand Songs (807,000, up 18%)." Isn't Diamonds doing better in streaming?

I believe Billboard might have noticed that this rule is not accurate and doesn't reflect what's the most popular song in the country in the week. So here's to hoping they change it! And what makes you think this?
