She releases during competitive weeks. Rih has outsold a number of people whove hit #1 on the albums chart.

Yeah, Hits said "probably" which would indicate one or both of Taylor/1D are predicted to do over 200k and are just enough within striking distance that they weren't comfortable absolutely declaring Unapologetic would take the #1 spot. Rihanna is not out of the woods just yet. Like I said in Ri's album thread though, I'm much more impressed with the sales projection (a ~50-70k increase over what she has done with the last three albums :) ) than with the possible #1. Is Miss Fenty starting to become...an album artist?! She already is.

If People Like Us get's released after Christmas I can easily see it going gold. I wonder where Xtine will land I think she'll hold up ok. Better than in the UK. It's currently set to go #28-#102 in the UK, possibly even lower. looks like it won't break Bionic's record for biggest drop :'(

I'm not here for a meltdown if Rih doesn't hit #1. We all don't to be going through 30 extra pages.

Those who do insist that she is a singles artist just got their argument cut down with the increase, though. I'm not here for a meltdown if Rih doesn't hit #1. We all don't to be going through 30 extra pages. I especially don't want that, since at least 20 of those pages are bound to be trolling and I ain't got time for that.

Please let there be a Michael Buble special edition to suddenly appear and sell 300k, just like Eagles vs. Britney and just for entertaining purpose.

I think it'll be #1 Rihanna, #2 Taylor Swift, #3 One Direction.
Rihanna will most likely have one week at #1...Alicia will be next and then we'll see 1D and Taylor switch spots often. They'll sell a lot in 2013 as well.

Watch for Rod Stewart possibly jumping to #1 and blocking Rihanna A 200% increase seems a little extreme.

She's never come close to 350k. She's not going to now.

The FYE in my mall was playing Red on a loop, with a few Christmas song in between to break things up. Sensational Black Friday promo

I don't really care either way if Rihanna gets a #1 or not, but it would be fun if Taylor just blew the fuck up and became the new mini-Adele (over-selling from predictions, snatching #1 against other artists). I couldn't even find her cds out when I went shopping which either means they under-shipped or she sold a LOT (or both).

Why all the talk about Taylor's "Red" selling well this week? There's no sale on it whereas P!nk's album is $5 at many retailers. I don't expect "Red" to sell more than 150k this week.

Because this week two years ago, her sales with Speak Now were almost exactly where they are with Red. So, if trends hold, she'll be in the 220k-240k area... and challenging for #1.

Pink's sales will probably also be impressive, but I don't see her blowing up to the point of challenging for a #1 this week unless I am missing something. Taylor has a legitimate chance of that.

It doesn't matter if Taylor's album is on sale or not. It's supply and demand. If little girls and little boys want Taylor's album for Christmas then it doesn't matter.
I think Rihanna has it but we will see.

I also tend to think Rihanna will get it, but I also have a feeling Taylor and One Direction will be closer than we think (175-210K) range and overall we will have a super impressive top 3. I may be over-estimating One Direction though.

Taylor did have an NBC Thanksgiving special that year though, and I haven't really seen any sales or special promotions for her this week. Red has been a bigger success than Speak Now, but that'd still be a pretty remarkable feat to repeat. I think Rihanna is safe if she debuts in the projections. If it trends down in the 200k-230k range, then I think it's up for grabs between her, Swift, and One Direction. P!nk shouldn't be a threat as just to reach 200k she'd have to increase roughly 700% on last week.
