music.yahoo.com/blogs/music-news/chart-watch-frozen-brings-heat-203806438.html:"21" has sold 10,857,000 copies.^ That was two weeks ago. The album has sold about 4,000 in each of the weeks since, giving 21 a current total of 10,865,000 copies. One year ago, Norah Jones' Come Away With Me had sold 10,908,000 total. Assuming it sells an average of 1,500 a week (and it probably doesn't come close), that puts the gap between 21 and Come Away With Me at 130,000. With a new album coming, Adele can absolutely close that gap, and make serious progress at approaching No Strings Attached, by the end of 2014. Edit: We'll probably know the updated sales of Come Away With Me fairly soon, as it comes close to the 11 million mark. Until we hear such an announcement, we can assume for almost certain that it hasn't yet reached that milestone.

Anyone have the latest stats on Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson? Apparently the April 12 issue of Billboard says that Michael Jackson has sold 34.4 million albums in the Soundscan era. I can't find actual confirmation on that but it seems pretty accurate. As of October 2013 Janet had sold 20.0 million.

5/31 Billboard charts
music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-black-keys-beat-michael-jackson-194758686.html
Jackson has sold 34,723,000 albums in the U.S. since January 1991. That puts him in 14th place on Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the best-selling artists in its history. He's sandwiched between two hit-makers of comparable sales but lesser stature: Kenny G and Shania Twain.
In the week before he died in June 2009, Jackson ranked #47 on this running list. He had sales, to that point, of 21,737,000 albums.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/6099381/metallica-black-album-sales-16-million-nielsen-soundscanMetallica's 'Black Album' Hits 16 Million in Sales By Keith Caulfield | May 28, 2014 Metallica's mega-selling self-titled 1991 album has hit a new sales threshold. The album, which continues to be the best-selling release of the Nielsen SoundScan era, has become the first album to sell 16 million copies since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. "Metallica" -- often referred to as "The Black Album" because of its stark cover art -- sold another 3,000 copies in the week ending May 25. That brings its cumulative total to 16,002,000. SoundScan began tracking U.S. music sales in 1991. Its point-of-sale data was first used to compile the Billboard 200 albums chart on May 25, 1991. "Metallica" marked the group's first No. 1 that year, when it debuted atop the list. "Metallica" became the biggest-selling album of the SoundScan era in the week ending Dec. 20, 2009, when it overtook Shania Twain's "Come On Over." Twain's album is currently in second place on the list, with 15.57 million. "Metallica" and "Come On Over" are the only two albums that have sold more than 15 million copies in the SoundScan era. There have been 22 releases that have shifted at least 10 million. The most recently-released title to reach the 10 million plateau was Adele's 2011 album "21." (Its sales now stand at 10.94 million.) On the most current Billboard 200 chart, "Metallica" climbs from No. 155 to No. 144, marking its 307th week on the chart. That continues to be the longest chart run of any title since the tally began using SoundScan data. Since the Billboard 200 became a regularly-published weekly chart in 1956, "Metallica's" run is the sixth-longest. (Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" has the most weeks on the chart, with 861.)
