The thread on the Crosby/Buble version got me to looking for a thread on the original- and can you believe there is not one here? :o This is only one of the biggest singles of all time, period.
Aside from selling 30 million+ units around the world, look at these chart stats:
(Not sure if the peaks for 1942-1953 are from the Best Sellers chart; probably so).
1942: No. 1(11 weeks)/17 weeks 1943: No. 6/6 weeks 1944: No. 5/3 weeks 1945: No. 1(2 weeks)/4 weeks 1946: No. 1(1 week)/6 weeks 1947: No. 3/5 weeks 1948: No. 6/6 weeks 1949: No. 5/4 weeks 1950: No. 13/4 weeks 1951: No. 13/2 weeks 1952: No chart 1953: No. 21/2 weeks 1954: No. 21/3 weeks
1954: No. 13/3 weeks (Most Played By Disc Jockeys); also No. 19 Most Played in Juke Boxes, No. 21 Best Sellers in Stores 1955: No. 7/3 weeks (DJ); also No. 18 Top 100 1956: No. 65/1 week (Top 100) 1957: No. 34/6 weeks (Top 100); also No. 36 Best Sellers)
Hot 100: 1958: No. 66/2 weeks 1959: No. 59/1 week 1960: No. 26/3 weeks 1961: No. 12/4 weeks 1962: No. 38/3 weeks
And, did we know that Crosby had 36 solo No. 1 hits? he had an additional two with the Andrews Sisters.

I like many versions of this Christmas song, but Bing Crosby's is THE quintessential one. I love it.

One of the best Christmas songs of all-time. No cover comes close, although the Drifters version is unique enough to stand on its own.

#16 on US Spotify with 823k streams, nearly 200k more than Mariah who is at #24. Has this ever been the best performing Christmas song so early? It's one of my favourites, so I'm not complaining

It's one of my favourites, so I'm not complaining for some reason the points for this and the Brenda Lee song seem to be combined .so far Rockin has not been showing up in the top 200 when it should be one of the most streamed Christmas songs each year.

This is down to #31, while Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree re-enters at #23. How do two songs with nothing to do with eachother get their streams combined??

There seems to always be errors with "White Christmas." Last year there was an issue with Spotify combining it with "Holly Jolly Christmas," and each song would have wild swings in position based on whether the error was occurring. There is also still an error as if you look at the total Spotify streams for "White Christmas" (738,142,929) that is the same exact total they have for Burl Ives' "Christmas Child," which is a song that never shows up on the daily Spotify chart. So on some level the streams for "White Christmas" must be getting combined with it too.

one interesting thing about the song alot might not know is the version we hear today is not the original 1942 version which spent 11 weeks at #1 . there was damage to the master so he re recorded the song in 1947 which is the year listed with it on Spotify. the original is still out there though . this i think is the version from the Holiday Inn movie it was from.
1942
1947

I can see this song challenging for the Top 10 in future years. It should be Top 5 really. Isn't it technically the biggest selling song of all time?
