Note: 9 full countdowns will be presented; some will run much shorter than the 9-hour allotted time period due to lower commercial load (such as the late evening/overnight presentations).

Interestingly, last year Z100 was able to slip in the top-of-hour IDs, spot breaks and "news/entertainment of the year" segments via automation at various spots in the countdowns rather than have them included within the original countdown recording as they had done for past years, which had meant that some breaks and IDs would air at unusual times due to varying spot loads.

Now the extra-curriculars air during the countdowns in a more timely fashion - including the 100-minute commercial-free daily segment between 4:30-6:10pm ET.

I always wonder how radio stations compile these year end lists when they differ completely from the actual airplay data. Maybe via requests or the "dartboard" method? Who knows.

who knows. poor Jessie J. ranked #17 in spins and then they place her at #41 on their actual list. I dont get the difference, maybe they do count reequest and not spins, or a combination of both?

This year's list is decent, but not as good as last years. While the variety of music this year was great, they placed emphasis on quite a few more recurrents this year and over added too many songs making it hard to rule out some on the list.

namely dev "in the dark" and gym class heroes "stereo hearts really shouldn't be here.

I would have given those two slots to either Conor Maynard's Vegas Girl, Madonna's Give Me All Your Lovin', No Doubt's Settle Down or Coldplay's Princess of China. The most shocking no show of all was Hot Chelle Rae's I Like It Like That. I feel like I heard that so much more then J. Cole's Workout, which I feel wasn't even officially added

Z100 also missed out on Carly Rae's This Kiss, Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen, and Rita Ora's R.I.P. they should have been added and given a chance in my opinion.

What worries me now is theres so many songs to compete for 2013 already having been added that some should have cracked this yrs list: Justin / Nicki, Pink's try, Calvin Harris + florence etc... :o
