My friend and I were talking about how 10 big artists from the '80s could provide 10+ hours of 80s music.
It made me wonder who had the most Top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 80s.
Madonna 17 Michael Jackson 17 Phil Collins/Genesis 17
George Michael/Wham 15
Prince 14
Hall & Oates 13 Lionel Richie 13
Huey Lewis & The News 12
Bruce Springsteen 11
Kool & The Gang 10 Whitney Houston 10
Gloria Estefan/Miami Sound Machine 9 John Cougar Mellencamp 9 Duran Duran 9 The Police/Sting 9
Bon Jovi 8 Billy Joel 8 Diana Ross 8 Air Supply 8 Chicago 8 Cyndi Lauper 8

Another big artist from the 1980s would be Kenny Rogers. He had six top tens during that decade. They are: 1. Coward Of The County-1980-#3 2. Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer-with Kim Carnes-1980-#4 3. Lady-1980-#1-chart wise, his biggest pop hit 4. I Don't Need You-1981-#3 5. We've Got Tonight-with Sheena Easton-1983-#6 6. Islands In The Stream-with Dolly Parton-1983-#1

The Police/Sting Sting had 3 solo top 10's in the 80's and the Police had 7 top 10's. This is R&R chart data, since I don't have Billboard data on hand.

Cyndi Lauper had 7 top 10's didn't she? Cyndi had 8 top 10s in the 80s (and 8 overall), she should be added to the original post: "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" #2 "Time after Time" #1 "She Bop" #3 "All Through the Night" #5 "Goonies 'R' Good Enough" #10 "True Colors" #1 "Change of Heart" #3 "I Drove All Night" #6 She had another that came close ("What's Going On" peaked at #12 in 1987) but no cigar.

Sheena Easton had 7 (8, if you include "U Got the Look" but I don't think she was credited for it).

Michael Jackson/The Jacksons - 18
Figured since Phil Collins was combined with Genesis as was Sting/The Police and George Michael/Wham I'd do the same for MJ.
Though not credited he was featured on the #2 Rockwell hit "Somebody's Watching Me" in 1984 and was also instrumental in the success of the massive #1 "We Are The World" in 1985 (I'm reaching here but fuck it). :)
