I knew "Thrift Shop" would be #1 this week. I really can't believe that Taylor continues falling in position, despite still gaining in points! Ugh! "Ho Hey" is only above it at the moment because she's not available on streaming. >:( In fact, if she were available on streaming, she'd currently be #2 or #3 this week, most likely falling from #1 this week. Major annoyance.
"Suit & Tie" entered lower than I originally guessed, but his sales are shockingly higher than I what I thought they'd be at the end of the week. I was guessing #2 with over 500k at the beginning of the week, then lowered expectations to #3 with about 285k at the end of the week after it slipped hard on iTunes.
So "I Cry" fell out of the top ten again. It had a nice run, and it will go down as a cool chart fact that it peaked in the same spot as the song it heavely samples.

Is this the first time that JT and Britney had been in the top 10 at the same time?

Is this the first time that JT and Britney had been in the top 10 at the same time? Include 'N Sync songs in Justin's column and the answer is no. That happened twice: Late in the winter of 1999 when "(God Must Have Spent)..." took a big jump into the Top 10 while "...Baby One More Time" was still Top 5, and on 6/24/2000, with "It's Gonna Be Me" back-to-back with "Oops" as #9 and #10. Solo, however...the week that "Gimme More" quantum-leaped up to #3, "Ayo Technology" fell 6-13, never to return to the Top 10. And then it very nearly happened again in February 2009. However, the week that "Dead and Gone" entered the Top 10, "Circus" was pushed out (never to return) - and this was the same week that "Crack a Bottle" also quantum-leaped to #1...

Biggest upward movement - Hot 100 (not to #1) 86-4 (82 positions) — Zac Efron, Andrew Seeley and Vanessa Anne Hudgens — "Breaking Free" (February 11, 2006) 100-23 (77 positions) — Andrew Seeley — "Get'cha Head in the Game" (February 11, 2006) I forgot how HUGE the original High School Musical was. "Breaking Free" was #1 on digital sales that week, IIRC. What if "Breaking Free" had managed to actually get to #1 on the Hot 100? fridayteenage would also like to say WANEGBT jumped 71 spots, making it hold the record for biggest jump on the Hot 100 by an artist who crossed over from country to pop in their career.

Ohhh god all of those qualifiers... Here is a little known fact: Mariah Carey was the first artist to go to #1 while wearing a lavender hat and a butterfly necklace on a wednesday afternoon before 6pm.

Damn, the Barden Bellas can't just call their songs medleys? Those titles are over the top like Stars on 45's Beatles medley!

What makes it even better is that it's still top ten on the Hot 100 after 30 weeks on the Hot 100 AND the fact that the song's main radio format has already sent it to recurrency. Then there's the fact that the song has entered the top 10 like three separate times in a long span of time.

Right, in your original statement, you mentioned Home being in the top 10 after 30 weeks - Some Nights was in there after 43 weeks. Both songs have gone recurrent. Hence, I did not see how it was even better. As to Home going to top 10 on there separate occasions, that is indeed remarkable - but you didn't mention that in your original post. In any case, I love both songs dearly and am glad they are doing so well. Both, non-number 1s, will probably sell much much more than We Are Never Getting Back Together, which has fallen far below both songs.

For post count=2 the dialogue is interesting
Anyway, I see designations of one thing being better than another as someone's opinion rather than a statement of fact
