This song's pretty good. It's countrier than anything they released from their lasta lbum, but I'm surprised by how fast it's shot up so far. I was expecting them to have trouble getting to the top 40 initally; now they're on track to make it on their second week of charting. I'm not too sure how high they'll get, though. I have a feeling top 20 may be as far as this one goes.

I think the song is great! It's getting alot of airplay on our local station (KTOM) already.
By the way, they have a new video for the song coming out on CMT's Most Wanted Live this Saturday, Feb 7th. A new album is in the works too, with a tentative release date in early June.

I'm THRILLED with the new single. I've been a SHeDAISY fan since April of '99, and I think they're finally about to get the recognition they deserve. The last album ("Knock on the Sky") was sheer GENIUS... though I completely understand why it didn't do so well when it comes to sales and charts... but it's one of my personal favorite albums... :)

:)I think "Passenger Seat" is a great tune and I have a feeling it will definitely at least crack the top twenty, especially since there are many stations that aren't even playing it yet.

Well this song certainly beats "Get Over Yourself"...that song was truly horrid.
Not sure why it's moving so quickly though. Maybe they're taking the airplay void left by the Dixie Chicks.

I liked "Get Over Yourself." And maybe it's getting played because it's a truly great song. They're nothing like the Dixie Chicks... saying that they're filling the Chicks void is a little weird... they're entirely different...

I like to play my guitar to Get Over Yourself. Gotta love those fast chord changes. Sure, the song definitely had it's detractors, but until some silly controversy about it started (mistakingly alleged to be a man-bashing song, so DJ's refused to play it) it was climbing up the charts pretty fast, if I recall correctly.
Anyway, I like the song, but can understand why some don't. It's not some sweet-and-light thing. It dealt with some emotions that can make people uncomfortable.
Passenger Seat is totally different, that's for sure.

My dislike for "Get Over Yourself" has nothing to do with the content. I just thought it was boring and repetitive. I thought "Mine All Mine" was great though.
They always seemed to be in the shadow of the Chicks as far as 3-member girl groups go, that's why I made that comment.

The opening starts out like something I'd expect to hear on a Classic Rock station.

It's pretty shady to put them in the same category as the Dixie Chicks, because they're a female trio, in my opinion. Their style is entirely different. I mean, it's like saying Faith Hill is just like Lee Ann Womack or something. Hello, not even CLOSE...
I liked "Mine all Mine" better than "Get Over Yourself" too, and think there were lots of amazing songs on that album that never got released, but they probably wouldn't have been appreciated by the general country music crowd. "Keep Me" was sheer genius... gives me goosebumps. "I Wish I Were the Rain" makes me want to cry. There's some beautiful songs on that album. Not a remotely commercial album, but it was amazing... to be honest, "Get Over Yourself" was one of my least favorites on the album, but I think it made the most sense as a single at the time... *shrugs*

The gals have cited classic rock as being an influence on them, not just country. I like their blending of styles. It helps set them apart some; Too far apart for country purists, but I'm a New Country fan so it's fine with me.
The production on some of their recordings can get a little too layered or busy at times. That's probably Dann Huff's influence at work there. While I find just about anything they put out to be very enjoyable (I skip maybe 2-3 songs out of their entire recorded catalog), the stripped down versions they've performed live are REALLY good... Their peerless harmonies really shine through. I'd love to have a CD of them performing live.
As far as the Dixie Chicks thing, I think what TCorey is saying is that SHeDAISY has been stuck in the shadow of the Chicks through no fault of their own. It's just a perception people have, despite the music being so different. They're both female trios, and that's the first thing lots of people latch onto. SHeDAISY is not trying to muscle in on the Chicks's audience. That's pretty obvous if you listen to each group's music.
By the way, I've only been posting here for a day or so. I like these boards! What a find :)

I've figured out how to play Passenger Seat on guitar. I don't want to post it here, but if anyone's interested, do the private message thing (which I'm assuming works, but I've never used it personally, yet).

Does anyone know where Passenger Seat is on the Billboard country singles chart this week? I'm not a subscriber so can't see the full list at their website. Thanks

What a song! I love it! What a fun video, too! This group is talented and I'm so glad to see radio being more accepting of this new song. I think 'Knock On The Sky' is one of the best albums released and it just didn't get the airplay it deserved. It didn't fit the country genre well, but it's a beautifully done album. I listen to it often. I love how SHeDAISY is not afraid to take chances. They give you something fresh and different each time. They also have some of the best voices out there. Anyway, I'm glad to hear them on radio again and I'm so happy to see it climbing the charts.

Passenger Seat rises one position to number 28 on the AllAboutCountry Hot 40 chart for Feb 23rd. It got leapfrogged by Montgomery Gentry which rose 4 positions, but Reba and Clay Walker both slipped a bit as SHeDAISY passed them.
The song shows a healthy rise in both spins and stations at Mediabase today, reaching over 100 reporting stations for the first time.

Today it's #26 at Mediabase and All About Country... If anyone has today's Billboard number, I'd appreciate it. It was 29 last week on Billboard, and the new chart should be out today. Thanks!

Well, it's been 4 weeks since the previous message above. The song has hit a brick wall lately. Passenger Seat is at #22 on Billboard, but the bullet has shrunk at Mediabase over the last 7 days. A week ago today the bullet was healthy at +254. Now it's only +24, largely because most large market stations haven't picked it up into their regular rotation. It got some support from in LA and Philly but those were among the very few large market stations to give it a fair shot. :'(

I am sure Philly will continue to play the song, as they recently announced that the girls are coming here for a show in June (which I, as Philly's #1 SHeDAISY fan am ridiculously excited about!)... so yeah, they should get a fair amount of play here.
