Mariah looks incredible. I love Almost Home. And I cannot WAIT for her new album.
One thing I will say I wish Mariah did more was... sing!! For example, Fallon kept saying how she should sing with Prince last night. (not that Prince would have necessarily wanted her there, as he was promoting 2 new songs), but... how awesome would it have been to get up on stage and even just rift along with him?
Little things like that are what would grab headlines and make people remember how incredible of a singer she is. Instead, she said she needs "3 days vocal rest, humidifiers"... what other real singer would respond like that?
Mariah shouldn't be so self conscious about her voice. Get up there and blow everyone away like you can!! If she had gotten on stage for even a minute with Prince last night, it would be all over the news today.
Either way, can't wait to see Almost Home live. Praying for you Mariah- you've been my favorite for 20 years now!!!

blue nosed- why do you have to be "team" for one act? It's possible to enjoy more than one, ya know. :) You absolutely must appreciate the kookiness and divaliciousness that is Mimi Carey- and, of course, her unabashed, hopeless-romantic love-song repertoire. She will perform AH on Idol- probably this coming Thursday, as Oz opens Friday. good question, andI don't have an answer. I always felt rooting on Mariah was a diss to my girl M... silly, I know. I think it's the battle over "most successful female" title...IDK....but anyway, loving Mariah and would love love to see her soar to the top with a massive hit!

She looks fucking amazing. Wow. I really hope she keeps this look for the new era. It compliments her age perfectly.

Like you said, even if it was just for a little bit.

thats right, and it def would have made headlines today.. that would have been a great moment in music.. with the last few songs weve heard from Mariah... Christmas, Hip Hop, Pop.. Im so anxious to hear what they have chosen for the first single off the album. I think shes going to suprise people. If her album is sheduled for May? We are getting a new single very very soon.

Yeah, if they do indeed intend to take advantage of a May album release, surely we'll be a new single this month, then.

My Mimi looks good enough to eat she really has raised her fashion/glam game up. Beyond the clear loss of weight is the less dark makeup and proper fitting clothes and the fact she is dressed sexy and classy but not skanky.

I couldn't sleep tonight so I was going over Mimi's dubious history with the Grammy awards and I always wondered why "Always Be My Baby" never made a dent, at least in terms of nominations, in the 1997 Awards when it was such a massive commercial and critical hit in 1996 ... And then I remembered that Sony, for some reason, sent that to the R&B categories for the 1996 Awards and it got nominated for Female R&B Vocal and lost to Anita Baker. Stupid move. ABMB was basically just an album cut when those nominations came out in December of 1996 and wasn't yet a massive hit. Had they waited, maybe Mimi picks up some nominations and, God forbid, a win at the 1997 awards.
Although she would've had to beat then-Grammy darling Toni Braxton for R&B vocal (You're Makin' Me High) and Grammy darling Babyface for R&B Song (Exhale), or taken out Toni if they chose to submit to pop, where she won with Unbreak My Heart. I think she also, maybe, could have picked up a ROTY or SOTY nod. We'll never know.

^What's the difference? Just more noms that she would've lost no matter who she was going against.

Things have changed with the Grammy awards, back in the 90's I got the sense all that massive success with her record sales and #1's hindered her chances...but if her abuse of the charts was in the past decade or so she would have won A LOT of grammy awards imo
her record sales, #1's>>>>Grammy trophy

I think she also, maybe, could have picked up a ROTY or SOTY nod. We'll never know. She was up for something during the '93 Grammys. I remember the clip they played was "Dreamlover." My mom put her cigarette out, her coffee down, and shouted at the TV when Mariah didn't win. Oddly enough, even though I knew about "Dreamlover" (it was a camp counselor's favorite song) at 6, my parents getting the Music Box cassette that summer was my introduction to Mariah. My first CD was the "Hero" single (followed by Mariah Carey, Unplugged, and the AYNAF single)...I bought every Mariah album/CD single up until Honey (after that, just the CDs). My radio memory goes as far back as remembering "Someday" -- I remember being shocked when I finally found the version Casey Casem and Rick Dees played (the 7" straight) because of whatever FOMM used to be in like '98. My first non-wind induced boner came during the "Honey" video the summer before 5th grade. LOL.

Like you said, even if it was just for a little bit. It'd be cool, but he's way into pop/rock these days (and has been a lot of the decade). She did "The Beautiful Ones" justice. I really liked his collaboration with No Doubt. Something like that with a little more instrumentation/melody in the verses would be really cool. I know one of her favorite songs is that Shelia E. song he wrote...I wish she'd make an uptempo like that, or even use some kind of interpretive, redone/modern sample. I heard the new Daft Punk song clip last night during SNL ( www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qcDadaQjbvY) and couldn't help but wish they worked with Mariah. They've always made really melodic dance music, usually based off of R&B samples ("Digital Love" being the best example). They could easily be her C&C. I know it kind of sounds like LFN because everything disco does now, but it's way more organic.

Prince would have been a cool duet... when Mariah was in high school.

^Truth. If there are going to be any collabos on this album, the only one I would really be stoked about is Miguel, but I'm not even sure if their voices would blend. And I really wouldn't mind her saving rap for remixes unless she blows something out of the water like "One and Only" (original). I'm still adamant on an uptempo first single, especially for the summer...I just don't think she's worked with any producers who make uptempos yet (Hit Boy doesn't count -- he does mids, and I'm almost positive they did a ballad since he was blabbing about her vocal range).

I'd be stoked about a Miguel combo, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend and the supposed Robert Kelly duet. The only rapper that belongs on this cd is Aubrey Graham. If it ain't him, save the offers for mixes.

In the mid to late 90's I would have killed for a Mariah & Robert Kelly duet now not so much, give me current artists like Miguel and Frank Ocean or even Kendrick Lamar.

Kellz,Kendrick, J. Cole, Frank, Miguel, Drake...I'm here for all/any of those. Drake has good chemistry with the female singers he collabs with (Rih, Alicia). He and Mariah could come up with something Butterfly or Memoirs-esque. Something moody and emotional I'm thinking.

Given Mariah's relationship with Nicki, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see her working with anyone in the Young Money camp.

^Agreed. I would like to think that none of them would be against working with Mariah, and certainly because of the Nicki BS. If for no other reason, to make more money themselves, etc....
