This will be the third single from Sara Evans' Restless album. I like it a lot; it's a very country song, much moreso than anything she's released in awhile. Not what I was expecting her to release (I figured it'd be a ballad like "Niagra, "Need To Be Next To You" or the title track) but I think this is a good choice. Since "Perfect" is doing so well, I wouldn't expect this to go for adds for a little while still.

Ooh..this song is good. It's so infectious. I'm glad they didn't go with the power ballad route with "Niagra".

Though I was really hoping "Rocking Horse" would get released, I think this will be a good as well. I am really hoping 'Perfect' will break the #1 slumb for the WoC...

I think this album is so good that 5-6 singles could be released. After SITB, I'd like "Restless" to get released for a change of pace. But after that, I'd go with "Rocking Horse". I think "Otis Redding" would make a good choice, too.

The only song I agree with you on is Rocking Horse. To me, while Restless is one of my favorite songs on the album, I can't see it on radio. The Irish feel and the long, drawn out chorus would bore most people (remember our Chesney-loving, Keith-obsessed country listeners). And to me Otis Redding is just too different for radio to give it a chance. I think her best chances for singles are: Rocking Horse Tonight Niagra (iffy, because it's pretty poppish, but a good song nonetheless) It's funny how in 1999-2000 if she releaed Niagra it probably would have been a multi-week #1 smash power ballad. How the times have changed.

I would freak if she released 'Tonight.' It is one of my favorite songs of hers... ever. However, I think it's way too mature for what country radio is playing now.
I also love Otis Redding but Sara has suggested that it's a difficult song for her to sing, so I don't see that as a single.

I would have preferred "Need To Be Next To You" or "Niagara," however this one is just fine for me. Sara Evans has the best female recording voice in country music today. She can do no wrong.

SARA EVANS Suds in the Bucket Producer(s): Sara Evans, Paul Worley Writer(s): B. Montana, Jenai Publisher(s): Mike Curb Music, Songs of Moraine, BMI; Curb Songs, Moraine Music, ASCAP Genre: COUNTRY Label/Catalog Number: RCA 82876-60702-2 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: May 15, 2004
Culled from Sara Evans' "Restless" album, this is a lively single that is tailor-made for country programmers in need of uptempo tunes for summer. The song is awash in fiddle and steel guitar and has a catchy chorus. The visual lyrics tell of a young girl who leaves "the suds in the bucket and the clothes hangin' out on the line" as she takes off to Las Vegas with her prince charming. Her parents are left wondering, "How could 18 years just up and walk away?" The lyric is cute and will remind all parents of the fleeting joys of childhood and how quickly the kids begin building their own lives. Evans gives a spirited performance and once again demonstrates why she should be country's next female superstar.—DEP

Since Monday the spin count for Suds in the Bucket is up 307, rising at a rate that's suspiciously like the early stages of a Reba/Terri paid-spins deal. As of today (9/10) she's closing in fast on Gretchen and just passed Andy Griggs.

Are we now being too suspicious at everything, or is it now so that all female singles nearing the top need to buy their way to #1 /want/can't resist that number one spot?

I love this song, and hope it goes #1, preferrably the old-fashioned way.

Though I know only a little about charts in general, I was wondering this same thing. I'd like to, even gullibly, take it as a good sign for the women of country. If there is going to be "A Next Big Superstar," Sara gets my vote. The song, the vid, the album, the voice... all wonderful.

I was simply making an observation that her song is beginning that linear sharp upward climb the last few days that is very similiar (so far) to what happened recently with those other female artists. Read into that what you want. I'm not knocking Sara. I happen to like the song, and personally prefer female country artists over males. I hope my my use of the word 'suspiciously' isn't making some of you think I was dissing Sara; that wasn't my intent.
Besides, if her spins start slowing down tomorrow, this recent urge of hers probably had nothing to do with spins being bought.

I am not knocking down Sara (or Terri or Reba) either, I am just interested to know the truth. Truth shall set you free and so forth. Or would it be better to say that ignorance is bliss? I am starting to think that might be a better option, lol

As of Sunday night's update, Sara is only about 200 spins behind Keith, with Keith losing about 120 and Sara gaining around 200. Looks like Sara will most likely be #1 next week. Good for her - this one deserves it!

Sara has advanced to the #1 slot on Mediabase as of this afternoon's update. Looks like she'll be #1 next week on R & R, and hopefully Billboard.

Keith Urban is still ahead in terms of spins, so a Billboard #1 is still iffy.

Sudsy at the top -- Sara Evans has plenty to celebrate this week, with a chart-topping hit and a brand new baby arriving within a few days of each other.
Sara's “Suds In The Bucket” tops both the Billboard and R&R charts this week.
Sara will have to hold off celebrating with any “suds” of her own for a bit, since she’ll be busy this week delivering her third child in a Nashville hospital.

She had her baby on Wednesday, the song hit #1 in the new issue of R&R which hit newsstands the next day, and she made it to #1 in the new issue of BB, which hit newsstands today (10-9-04).
What a sensational week for her; she certainly deserves it!!!!
