"I turn the volume down Throw up the food I'd found Shut off the lights And I hope that I'm not crazy
I like their voices though I'm not fond of the buffalo I want to hear them sing something else besides Wild West Show!"
ok...ok... For the first time in the history of this board I believe that I am HATING a song. This one makes me want to get sick. The background music is the ONLY redeeming quality.

I liked the song the first time I heard it, but once I got familiar with the lyrics I liked it less. The music is fine, the vocals are good, but some of the lyrics are unintentionally giggle inducing... Especially the Tonto and Pinto lines. Sure, they rhyme and all... but geeze. Why do I just laugh inside when I hear them sing that? Maybe it's the way they have that slight hesitation before, and emphasis on, the last syllable (Ton-TO, Pin-TO) that does it. Gcook, I liked your take on the lyrics. Nice job... it made me laugh (but there's a difference between intentional laughter and unintentional) But hey, enough stations are playing it to be #20 at Mediabase. It's even #10 at KPLX in Dallas, giving the song a big bunch of audience impressions in the process. Just be thankful you didn't have to listen to a Tampa station play Wild West Show for over 100 spins about a week ago! Every hour, on the hour.

If my local station (or my satellite radio station) would have played that song 100 times in one week I would have went down there and hung the MD by his neck from a local billboard downtown. >:(

Infinity owns both Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater Country stations, so I don't know if it would do them any harm if one of them played a song once an hour.

The song is losing a lot of spins now (over 200). It is done.

Yes, Wild West Show seems to be on the way out (I never HATED it, I just thought a few lines in the lyrics were funny), but Big and Rich's new single "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" is off to a good start. It was #82 last week and today it's #48, with a +151 bullet (good enough for 15th on the JUMP chart... with only 45 reporting stations... not bad at all). I haven't heard it yet, and the title has me scratching my head wondering what it's about.

It can't be any worse, IMHO.
