Tameka is a nutjob on that show. I see why his mom hated her.

^Tameka is convinced that Sheree is lying about her and Usher having slept together. smh. Usher is bae but everyone knows he is community dick + she isn't even with him anymore. Double reason that she shouldn't care who else he has been or will be with.

Double reason that she shouldn't care who else he has been or will be with. She's implied more than once that she thinks it happened while she and Usher were married. Either way, she needs to let it go.

Any truth to the rumors that this will instead be an EP released in December?

Any truth to the rumors that this will instead be an EP released in December? Hmmmm...that could work. Include all the singles he's released so far, plus 3-4 new songs. Then for the next full album, just start over and find a new sound/theme!

Wendy discusses the current state of his carrer at 8:48 Thoughts/discuss etc. I think she's correct for the most part but I do not understand why he's going on tour without an album to coincide. His promotion has been sloppy for this era as "Good Kisser" wasn't the hit it should of been. And yes Chris Brown is successful, but I don't think he's THAT much more successful than Usher at this stage of his career. Fortune flopped and Brown didn't have a major hit until Loyal for "X". I just think the state of R&B is bleek right now and Usher is no exception to it.

That was a good interview, I hope he does the Breakfast Club next.
"Lovers & Friends" really is THAT record.

Cliff notes? I can't watch it now, but if something interested is discussed I will later.

Plenty of artists have toured without an album releasing or in light of a push back.
But in Usher's case, it might not be the best move. Looking For Myself wasn't a huge success, so for 2013 and 2014, he's had very low buzz. Although I love "Good Kisser", it's peaked already. I do hope the tour sells well and that the album is decent and at least goes Gold.

They really played up his veteran status on The Breakfast Club. It was good to hear him recognized for paving the way for so many R&B singers today.

It's sad his album is on "hold". I also would like for him to stop chasing these trends & realize he is one of the seasoned veterans in the game, despite his age, & appeal to audiences closer to his age group.

Damn, so he said Confessions was inspired by Eminem and Bone Thugs N Harmony. Who'd have ever guessed that?

Damn, so he said Confessions was inspired by Eminem and Bone Thugs N Harmony. Who'd have ever guessed that? I can kind of see/hear the Bone Thusgs influence. In particular I'm mentally comparing the title track to Crossroads...hard to put it into words but there is a certain blend of sparse but very pronounced percussion with otherwise full-bodied production. I would not immediately have traced that back to Bone Thugs, but now that I'm thinking about it, it's not entirely off the mark. Em, though? Never would have guessed that and am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. ---------------- Re: all the videos above - - Wendy brings up a lot of good points. Honestly I think it's just the growing pains of aging out of what was his place in the industry to whatever the next level is for him. I think something Wendy kind of touched on but didn't fully flesh out is the 'in-between' spot Usher is in right now with potential fans. He's no longer a primary artist for younger audiences to go to, but musically - well, more so lyrically - he is still in a 'young' mindset. He's still recording stuff I could imagine Chris, Trey, or August singing. So the older audience that has decided they've outgrown those youthful lyrics really aren't checking for Usher right now. They aren't thinking about a tour either, and not just b/c they have real-life things to attend to. He can possibly recapture them with an album full of songs like Climax, There Goes My Baby, Hey Daddy, Without you and Good Kisser even. But as long as he feels like dipping into Lil' Freak/I Don't Mind/DJ territory, they're not really going to be able to relate to all that. FWIW apparently the largest markets (NY, LA, Chicago) are selling very well, and I feel like that might be indicative of what the strongest part of his fanbase is, but I can't quite pin it down. The interviews have all been great, but I think he is doing some selective spinning when it comes to the "I'm just having fun now" thing. There is no denying that this promo blitz and tour were set up to coincide with his album release. The thing is, he knew the album was being pushed back a month or so ago, so he could have scrapped the tour and the interviews and no one would have known. I do believe he decided to fully commit to what he did have lined up because he's ready to get out there and do something regardless of the state of his album, I'm just not fully on board with the story line that merely having fun was his sole goal all along. He also seems to finally be coming around to buying into the icon talk and really playing up his tenure, to which I say it's about damn time! I liked when Ebro pointed out how oddly humble he is about his accomplishments (which was funny b/c at the same time they were picking at him for some of his hilariously unintentional ego moments, like when he was talking about his relationship with Chris and somehow analogized himself to MJ in the process). Usher has a strange way of clearly feeling himself without actually bragging.

Usher is a fool. I love his personality. One of the few artists in which I can tolerate more than just his music.
