The single is #16 on Mediabase and RR, so it's doing well. On Mediabase, its gaining 298 spins with an audience impression of 19 million! The album sold 88,000 copies this week, jumping to #3. Total sales are now just over the million mark. Here's the chart run on the US charts: US Main Album Chart02-04-04-03-04-04-06-08-03 US Country Album Chart01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01 I wonder how much it'll end up selling? I'm hoping that it'll reach 3x Platinum status... And finally, tonight CBS will air the CMA Music Fest which features performances by Gretchen and others! So don't miss it!  |

I am not at all impressed by her. She offers nothing new and is just living on a redneck gimmick. Just remember that this will be her biggest album ever because of all the fake hype and promotion an Nashvilles support. Having said that she still only sold 1 million in 2 months. Shania did that in a week. My prediction is that after the summer the redneck thing will wear off. Does anyone remember Bill Ray, he had more hype in the mainstream and his first album sold 9 million copies. First albums mean zippo, it is how you promote or the support you get. Lets wait till she releases a follow up album. To be an established superstar you need to prove yourself and having a few hit singles because of hype means nothing. Shania could get zero airplay and sell tens of millions worldwide. Call me when she sells 35 million of one album which will be never.

Having said that she still only sold 1 million in 2 months. Shania did that in a week. But Shania didn't sell that many DEBUT records. She absolutely did not. So your comparison is way off base and has absolutely no foundation whatsoever. Selling one million records in 2 months for your debut is impressive, let alone for a female (who have been struggling with success the past 2 years) |

Musicfan, what don't you understand. Debut cd's mean nothing, it is about having more than one cd that sells well. Do your research, Shania's first album with a #1 single(TWIM) sold over 20 million worldwide. Shania's first album wasn't even hers, they banned he videos and she didn't even write the songs on it and she got no support from Nashville. Wilson has been gettin hype and support for this album all over Nashville so she should sell well.
Get one thing straight, Shania is a worldwide megastar with world records. Gretchen isn't even a country star yet. Shania has the amazing talent,looks,charisma and drive to be one of the biggest stars in the world. Gretchen doesn't offer anything new, she is far from attractive(look at he face and body, yuck) and only rednecks will even give her a listen. So don't even try and talk about a megastar like Shania until gretchen can sell even one quarter of what Shania does or when they give a redneck woman a tv special, which wil be never.

Anyways, today's chart update...
The single has yet to break into the top 20 of Billboard's Country chart, and is still #16 on Mediabase gaining 260 spins with an audience impression of 19.6 million.
As for the album, here are some updated positions:

I love the video too but dont you think maybe it should have been released a week or two earlier? I mean the single has been on the charts for awhile now. The video will get lots of plays at first for being new but it will probably die down. I would have released it 2 weeks ago to help the song climb higher in its first few weeks.

You know what's funny? You don't equate radio airplay to success (or you say that the amount of airplay isn't going to affect the sales) yet you believe that the amount of cd's sold equates to quality. HELLO!!!! That is probably not the most accurate assumption in the world... if that is the case then you must believe that CSI is the best show on tv, Fox News really is fair and balanced, that Hershey produces the best chocolate, and that Al Gore should be president.  According to your philosophy... whoever sells the most is the best. Right? And I don't believe I am a redneck and I enjoy Gretchen. That points falls as well. Also, I don't find Shania all that pretty either. Don't get me wrong... I like Shania's music, but coming in here bashing Gretchen Wilson to build up Shania does absolutely nothing to build up Shania's credibility. I find Gretchen's music refreshing, but it comes from real life and the heart. It is stuff that has been collected from experiences in her life... not canned and commercialized like Shania's. Also... if you have listened to "Pocohontas Proud" from Gretchen's cd, you will understand that she hasn't had a cakewalk in life. |

While as a Shania Twain fan I really don't like the behaviour of the kinds of itsallaboutshania.
Gcook, but Shania doesn't had an easy life either.
As much as how much she writes about or not, it's her personal choice as an artist. Not only dramas and hardship are real in life...
In order to defend an artis you think was insulted, the answer is not necesserily to start and insult the other artist....

I was specifically responding to the attack that Gretchen has had Nashville behind her since day 1. I know that Shania has been scorned by music row. I am sorry if it sounded like I was bashing Shania. I was not in any way bashing her intentionally. That is the thing with computers and online posts... you can't tell the tone of the post most of the time. |

gccook, you are a clown. Only a blind bat would not find Shania stunning with her face and body. You must be an ugly duckling like Gretchen Wilson(her face looks lopsided and her belly is fat)
It is stupid to even mention Wilson in the same breath as a worldwide megastar like Shania. News flash for you, I saw her on Jay Leno and not only does the camera not even make her look good but she didn't even get couch time with Jay. For an upcoming star you would think she would talk to Jay. Maybe some day you can both buy a double wide trailer to live in and get yourself a face lift.

The single is now up to #14 on Mediabase. Hopefully we'll see it chart in Billboard's Top 20 this week.
The album is still doing well, though it will fall from the #1 position on the Country album chart this week. HITS has the album at #5 with another 87k sold, so it's holding up well.
Elsewhere, in Norway the album falls 14-15 in its third week on the chart and in Australia the album falls 21-31 on the main chart, and remains 2-2 on the country chart.

Certification is shipped to the stories but they even jumped the gun on that. Gretchen will have to sell 100,000 a week for 2 more months before she is actually double platinum.
