Congrats on their first number one. They have been close a whole lot of times and finally got over the hump. These guys are really deserving of a number one. I don't always like all their music but they work hard and put on great shows.

I don't really like them, but I agree they deserve a #1 after all those near-misses.

I've never been huge on them either, but it is nice to see them finally get a #1.

(I'm glad someone else posted this so I could celebrate!)
YEAH! I am a huge fan of these guys. After seeing them live four years in a row, I have to believe they're going to be around a long time. I hope this new milestone helps seal that deal.
And here's the press release:
First #1 Single - 'If You Ever Stop Loving Me'
Gold - Album Sales of 'You Do Your Thing'
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Hot country duo Montgomery Gentry is flying high this morning after receiving word that their current single "If You Ever Stop Loving Me" has hit the #1 spot on both country single charts - Billboard and R&R. This marks the first #1 single for the duo -- they've come close with six previous Top 5's. YOU DO YOUR THING, their fourth Columbia Records album, has been RIAA certified Gold status with sales in excess of 500,000. Released May 18, the achievement makes it the fastest selling album of Montgomery Gentry's career and placing total sales well in excess of three million. "When I got the phone call early this morning from Larry Pareigis (Sony-VP Radio Promotions) I jumped out of bed. Man, I couldn't believe it. It freaked me out! I can't thank Sony enough or all of our friends out there that have backed us through the years. Our first #1 -- it's unbelievable. I can guarantee you there's going to be one hell of a party -- so if you feel the earth moving don't worry -- it's not an earthquake it's us! We're just getting started," said a revved up Eddie Montgomery. "We've been waiting for this #1 for a long time and it feels great! We have to thank all of our friends at radio who have been behind us and wanted this as much as we did, the songwriters who wrote such a great song and of course the fans who requested the song and bought the album. We're fortunate to have such great people supporting us," added Troy Gentry. "Gold and #1 are the first two steps in 'the year of Montgomery Gentry,'" said Sony Nashville president John Grady. "It is their time." Following an album release party that drew around 10,000 fans in their Lexington, Kentucky hometown, the duo made appearances on "The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno," "CBS Saturday Early Show," "The Jimmy Kimmel Show," "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," and they opened the recent "Academy of Country Music Awards."

This is great. I always felt Montgomery Gentry was overlooked when it came to the #1 spot. Here's hoping that this is the start of a trend!!!
