I can see her having a hit with an original song by a DJ like Florence Welch with Sweet Nothing. That would be amazing if it ever happens.

I also wished another remixer had been commissioned just for the sake of variety but I really like this remix, too. With that said, this song is not as catchy as "Summertime Sadness" to me.

Agreed. ...and I saw this coming from a mile away. They know none of her songs are going to be a hit without dance mixes. I don't see what's so non-radio friendly about her songs? They're all catchy and her voice is pretty. Sure, they're kind of depressing..., but not all pop songs have to be cheerful. I'm convinced Dark Paradise can smash on its own now, no remix is even remotely necessary. I also think this song could do it too, but they won't give her the chance now. Dance remixes of ballads like this rarely work because you can just hear how unnatural they sound. SS wasn't really a ballad so it wasn't so poorly suited to a dance remix.

As for next singles, my guess would be 1 National Anthem 2 Off to the races 3 Dark Paradise
Or smth from Tropico like American or remix of American

For "Dark Paradise", there is a remix, but it's not as Dance-oriented as the SS one was. It has an 80s sound to it. It's by Parov Stelar. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FJ7F6trvBc

Dark Paradise is another great song. This should be released after Young and Beautiful.

There are actually many unoffical remixes I have 7 of Dark Paradise And more than 20 of Summertime Sadness
Diet Mountain Dew could pass on radio without any changes

For me it is the best song of 2013 I am really curious to see if the remix if this will be as successful as Summertime Sadness

So unfortunate that such a stunningly beautiful song got such a shit remix treatment. But, I mean, if it works...
Hope there's even more singles after this! "Lolita" is the only song that I don't love off Born To Die. It's such a stellar album. I was never as high on "National Anthem" as everyone else was until recently--would love to see that, "Dark Paradise," or "Radio" next (if there is a next).

I heard that she is not that happy with the remix of Summertime sadness and she prefer people know her for her real sound, so it will be really absurd give radio another remix. Young and beautiful it's a perfect song for the fall, people liked it before she had a hit on the radio, and the song keeps selling, so why not try to send the original to radio, if they don't buy it's their problem

'Off to the Races' is the bomb, but it wouldn't work as a single. 'Dark Paridise' isn't one of my favorites, but it could work.

My only hope is that radio listeners discover the beautiful original.

well, the original is well known, isn't it? this remix could make others to discover it pretty much like it was the case with Summertime sadness

I wish they'd test the original a little bit and see how it goes before they had Cedric Gervais remix it. It would have been great hearing the original on radio but that's likely not going to happen now.

It would have been great hearing the original on radio but that's likely not going to happen now. Like someone said before, release the original to Hot AC, AC, and Alternative. Her music is perfectly tailored for those formats rather than the remixes being played there. Plus, I hope this song is a shoo-in for the Academy Award nomination and probable win!

Plus, I hope this song is a shoo-in for the Academy Award nomination and probable win! I thought she said she had already written the song and then gave it up for the soundtrack? If so, it wouldn't be eligible for the Oscars (unless they changed their rules), which mandates that all original songs be written specifically for the movie. That's why "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge wasn't eligible (originally written for Romeo & Juliet).

'Off to the Races' is the bomb, but it wouldn't work as a single. 'Dark Paridise' isn't one of my favorites, but it could work. Why? A song about an underage girl doing sexual favors for her step-dad and earning money for it to buy booze and drugs sounds like a great theme for pop radio. But I guess Dark Paradise is good too.

Dark Paradise was already a single After Summertime Sadness last year in Europe So, I guess it is kinda obvious choice

I wish her best songs were a little less... genius. If 'Cola' or 'Off to the Races' were a little less abrasive lyrically, they'd be massive. Why? A song about an underage girl doing sexual favors for her step-dad and earning money for it to buy booze and drugs sounds like a great theme for pop radio. No I agree; but after Britney featured horses in her video for 'Radar', I just don't think pop radio is willing to embrace anything involving them. Even metaphorically.

Why not send the remix to pop and rhythmic and original to hac and ac. That's a good option, but i still think the original is far better suited for a fall hit on pop radio than the remix. Right now there's a lot of variety on the chart, it's true that dance songs are doing still well, but lately ballads are doing well too, so there's not reason for a remix (apart to dance charts and clubs). People liked this song from the beginning and it's still selling, so i think radio will embrace it. It only needs a little push

I'd like to see the original sent instead of the remix as well; just automatically going with the Gervais mix on this is asking to have her pigeon-holed into his sound for her songs on Pop radio.

I know OTTR has been praised by some radio PDs so you never know...but I think Y&B should be released next sans the Cedric Gervais remix. one was more than enough.
