Also, great to see "Adventure of a Lifetime" atop, nice rebound of "Run Away With Me", "Wild" enters in the Top 20 and "Automatic" keeps going, as well as "I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)", "Love Me", "Never Forget You", "Magnets" and "Used to Love You". Oh! And good debut of "Last Christmas", but I don't like that drop of "Fire and the Flood". :(

Pretty much all of those keep rising except for Vance who's time is up, unfortunately. It's a good song but kind of lost in the shuffle. Thanks Juan Carlos! Stay wonderful! <3

Commentary:

Carly manages to score a 3rd number one from Emotion as "Gimmie Love" jumps from 3 to 1. It's a rare feat that an album track hits number one, and I think the last one to do so was Azealia Banks's "Ice Princess", which later ended up as one. Coldplay thus slips from 1 to 2 with "Adventure Of A Lifetime". Adele occupies the next three positions as "Hello" slips from 2 to 3, "When We Were Young" inches from 5 to 4, and "Water Under The Bridge" flies from 22 to 5. Look for the latter two songs to challenge for number one next week. LEON slips from 4 to 6 with "Tired Of Talking". Tinashe and Justin Bieber score top tens this week as "Player" and "Sorry" fly from 15 to 7 and 13 to 8, respectively. "Gone" falls 2 spots with "Gone" while Carly rounds out the top ten with "Run Away With Me", which slips from 9 to 10. This is Carly's 19th straight week in the top ten, which I believe is the most since "Radioactive" spent over 20 in the frame just over two years ago. Needless to say, "Run Away With Me" has had one of the best runs of all-time and is looking to wind up high on my all-time list.


Brothers Osborne leads a pack of debuts and re-entries this week as "Stay A Little Longer" enters at no. 15, a new peak. Ellie Goulding claims the second highest entry as "Something In The Way You Move" debuts at no. 21. Other debuts come from Mutemath, Fleur East. Sam Hunt, The Weeknd, and MØ.

Adele scores her 2nd no. 1 from 25 as "Water Under The Bridge" jumps from 5 to 1. Carly switches places with Adele as "Gimmie Love" drops from 1 to 5. Normally songs don't have such steep drops from no. 1, but the chart is just so competitive right now. Coldplay holds at no. 2 with "Adventure Of A Lifetime" while Adele advances from 4 to 3 with "When We Were Young". Tinashe jumps from 7 to 5 with "Player", which becomes her 2nd top 5 hit. Also, I don't think Chris Brown has had a top five hit since 2012 so that's something. "Hello" drops from 3 to 6, giving Adele a third song in the top ten. I think Carly was the last artist to do this. "Sorry" inches from 8 to 7 while "Tired Of Talking" drops from 6 to 8. DNCE and Brothers Osborne each scores their first top ten hit this week as "Cake By The Ocean" and "Stay A Little Longer" jumps from 11 to 9 and 15 to 10, respectively.

Zebra's Top 100 - December 13, 2015 - Week 133, Week 51

Commentary:

That Adele reign just won't let up. "Water Under The Bridge" holds at no. 1 for a 2nd week while "When We Were Young" inches from 3 to 2. Adele controls the top two, but her domination doesn't stop there. "Love In The Dark" moves from 11 to 8 to give Adele her fourth entry in the top ten ("Hello" is the other, it slides from 6 to 10). No artist has ever done this before. "Player" inches from 4 to 3. "Adventure Of A Lifetime" dips from 2 to 4. "Stay A Little Longer" jumps from 10 to 5 while "Sorry" holds at no. 7. Troye Sivan scores his 2nd top ten hit and his highest peaking song ever as "Wild" jumps from 13 to 6. "Happy Little Pill" peaked at no. 7. "Shadow" by the Chromatics also enters the top ten as it moves from 12 to 9. 

Fourteen (!) songs debut this week. Excluding the week where Adele's entire album charting, this hasn't happened in a while. It was rather common late last year, and I guess this one is following suit. Empress Of scores the top debut with "Standard", which enters at no. 31. Other debuts come from Reba, the Chainsmokers, Foals, Maddie & Tae, Snakehips, BASECAMP, CHVRCHES, XY&O, Madeira, Arca, Paperwhite, and Cappa. 

Also, a noteworthy change in chart rules has gone into effect lately. Since posting the chart on Pulse, I've been kind of lax with the "singles only" rule. However, I'm just going to make it a formal rule change: anything can chart as long as I'm enjoying it (and it isn't too old). I've found that this reflects my tastes for each particular week more accurately, such as the weeks I was obsessed with 25.

Zebra's Top 100 - December 20, 2015 - Week 133, Week 51

Commentary:

Empress Of manages to knock Adele off of the top spot as "Standard" flies from 31 to 1. This causes "Water Under The Bridge" to slide from 1 to 4. Troye Sivan narrowly ranks at number 2 this week (up from no. 6) with "Wild". Adele almost held at number 2 with "When We Were Young", which ranks at number 3 this week. The Chromatics jump from 9 to 5 with "Shadow" and Tinashe's "Player" slides from 3 to 6 as it gets lost in the shuffle. Other than "Standard", two other songs score new peaks in the top ten for the first time. Brandon Flowers earns a 3rd top ten hit from The Desired Effect as "I Can Change" flies from 20 to 7. He previously had top ten hits with "Can't Deny My Love" (1) and "Lonely Town" (5). Jamie xx scores the other top ten entry as "I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)" leaps from 18 to 9. In between the two new entries we have Adele again with "Love In The Dark". Coldplay rounds out the top ten as "Adventure Of A Lifetime" falls from 4 to 10. 

Elsewhere, the chart becomes rather hectic this week. A lot of songs finally start to break out and make large leaps, while several others finally grow on me and debut/re-enter. The Cold War Kids lead the pack with "First", a re-entry at no. 33. Ellie Goulding also scores a re-entry at no. 34 with "On My Mind". George Ezra's "Blame It On Me" enters at no. 61 (late I know, but I forgot to chart it earlier in the year) while the X Ambassadors re-enter with "Renegades" at no. 67. I was dissatisfied with its peak. Other debuts come from Jason Isbell, Coldplay, Carly Rae Jepsen, Missy Elliott, Fetty Wap, Chris Stapleton, and Ashley Campbell.

Commentary:

Adele rebounds from 3 to 1 to claim her 3rd number one from 25 (and 7th overall) with "When We Were Young". "Standard" thus falls from 1 to 2. Brandon Flowers nabs his 3rd top five hit in a row as "I Can Change" jumps from 7 to 3. Ellie Goulding blasts from 12 to 4 with "Something In The Way You Move". "Wild" and "Water Under The Bridge" drop from 2 to 5 and 4 to 6, respectively. "I Know" inches from 9 to 7 while One Direction jumps from 11 to 8 with "Perfect". Snakehips & co. vault from 35 to 9 with "All My Friends", which could contend for number one as early as next week. Rounding out the top ten is the Chromatics, who fall from 5 to 10 with "Shadow".
