Zebra's Top 50 - January 12, 2014 - Week 32 - Week 2This week Tove Lo (whom I know absolutely know nothing about ), an artist I discovered due to Invincible, debuts at number one with "Habits". This is my second my number one debut, with my first being "Roar". This pushes "XO", "Alone Together", "Hey Brother", "Bonfire Heart" "Do What U Want", and "Love Me Again" down in the top ten. Calvin Harris, Alesso, and Hurts hold at number 4 with "Under Control", and American Authors move from 9 to 8. The only other song in the top ten that isn't decreasing is "Dark Horse", which flies from 24 to 7. Other than "Habits", three other songs debut. They are: "Falling" by HAIM (47), "Move" by Little Mix (49), and "Neon Lights" by Demi Lovato (50). I'll do formatting tomorrow, it's just been a lazy day yet I wanted to post something. Year end resumes tomorrow. Enjoy! "Habits" didn't catch me at first but after another listen it was FLAWLESS. I fell in love with it and it easily became my number one this week. Thanks for introducing me to it! It needs to slay on your chart! Glad it made your day, and thanks for commenting! It's got some extremely stiff competition on the top 10 on my chart, this is by far the strongest chart I ever had, on a normal week for example "Habits" would be top 2, "Move" by Little Mix (#38) would barely be top 10, that's just a preview of how strong my top 10 is, it will move up however though I don't expect it to make a very sudden jump to #1.

Yeah, I was listening to their station "New Pop First" when "Habits" came on, I instantly fell in love. <3 I was listening to Alternative when "Oh Sailor" came on, wasn't exactly love at first sight, but I later had the urge to listen to it again & that's when I fell in love with it.

That's cool. "Habits" was way more instant for me than "Oh Sailor" as well. I think I love "Oh Sailor" a little bit more at the moment, even though it only peaked at number 6 (should've peaked it higher). It has great longevity with me, I still love it. "Habits" could take over though.

I would recommend "Superlove" by Charli XCX to you as well, it's the #3 song on their New Pop First station in terms of popularity, though it's nowhere close to as good as "Habits" which is unfortunately only #44. :( Here's the top 50 so you can get a new music fix. :) 50 "Tell My Mama" - Christina Grimmie 49 "Budapest" - George Ezra 48 "F**ked Up" - Joel Compass 47 "She Keeps Me Warm" - Mary Lambert 46 "Dear Darlin'" - Olly Murs 45 "You're Not The One" - Sky Ferreira 44 "Habits" - Tove Lo 43 "Confident" - Justin Bieber 42 "Midnight Memories" - One Direction 41 "Loyal" - Chris Brown 40 "Counting Stars" - OneRepublic 39 "Sweater Weather" - Neighbourhood 38 "Replay" - Zendaya 37 "Classic" - MKTO 36 "Let Her Go" - Passenger 35 "Love Me Again" - John Newman 34 "Burn" - Ellie Goulding 33 "Best Day Of My Life" - American Authors 32 "White Walls" - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis 31 "Stay The Night" - Zedd 30 "Pompeii" - Bastille 29 "Timber" - Pitbull 28 "Heart Attack" - Enrique Iglesias 27 "Team" - Lorde 26 "Cool Kids" - Echosmith 25 "I Believe" - Basic Vacation 24 "Dear No One" - Tori Kelly 23 "Love Don't Die" - The Fray 22 "Elastic Heart" - Sia 21 "The Monster" - Eminem 20 "Story Of My Life" - One Direction 19 "Gold" - Adventure Club 18 "Hey Brother" - Avicii 17 "Young & Beautiful" - Lana Del Rey 16 "Don't Wait" - Mapei 15 "Neon Lights" - Demi Lovato 14 "Hold On" - Colbie Caillat 13 "Free" - Rudimental 12 "Life Of The PRTY" - PRTY H3RO 11 "Say Something" - A Great Big World 10 "Mirror" - Ellie Goulding 9 "Under Control" - Calvin Harris 8 "Run Run Run" - Celeste Buckingham 7 "Ride" - Timeflies 6 "Dark Horse" - Katy Perry 5 "The Monster" - Eminem 4 "Brave" - Sara Bareilles 3 "Superlove" - Charli XCX 2 "Do What U Want" - Lady Gaga 1 "Drunk In Love" - Beyonce Shocked that #1 isn't "XO" instead.

Zebra's Top Albums Of 2013 (20-16) My top albums of 2013 isn't literally just a list of 2013 albums, it includes the albums I have loved the most over the past year. Whether it has been just a few singles that I loved, or a complete album, these are my favorites of the year.
Honorable Mentions: - BEYONCE - Beyonce: "Partition", "XO", and "Drunk In Love" are all so good. I also liked the samples I heard from iTunes, yet this album didn't have enough listening time for me in the year. These songs almost got it there though. - Bad Blood - Bastille: "Pompeii" is FLAWLESS. Also, many of the international singles were good too. I haven't really listened to them much however, but this is still a really good album. - TRUE - Avicii: "Wake Me Up" was really good, but then overplay killed it for me and I'm ready for it to die on the Hot 100. It's a shame, it's actually not that bad. However, "Hey Brother" came through and I love it. "You Make Me" is good too, and some of the album tracks that I've heard are good too. I need to check it out more. 20. Unapologetic - RihannaReleased in late 2012, "Diamonds" was a massive hit for me at the end of 2012/early 2013. I think I gave it 6 weeks at number one, and I still love it. I was also really into "Right Now", "Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary", "Pour It Up", and "Nobody's Business" at the beginning of the year as well. "Stay" eventually grew on me and I loved it, "Pour It Up" and "Right Now" did okay, even though I grew tired of them, and "What Now" started to become a hit at the end of the year. However, the album is so low because it has some duds for me, and "Stay", "Right Now", and "What Now" all burned on me. I never hated them, they just became okay. However, I am starting to like them again. 19. Demi - Demi LovatoDemi was an album I waited until the summer to really check out, even though I loved "Heart Attack" (whoops! ) However, once I started to love "Made in The USA" I decided to check out the album. I also wanted to find out which tracks to support in the survivor game, and I did not regret listening. "Without The Love", "Something That We're Not", "Neon Lights", "Really Don't Care", "Never Been Hurt", and "Fire Starter" were my favorites from the initial listens. However, "Made In The USA" and "Fire Starter" burned on me quickly, but "Made In The USA" is good now. "Neon Lights" started to bubble under as I didn't hate it, but there were so many more better single choices available. "In Case", "Two Pieces", and several of the other slower tracks have started to grow on me now. This album is so low because "Made In The USA" and "Neon Lights" never really caught on in a big way with me. :)18. Love And War - Tamar BraxtonI heard "Love And War" in late 2012 and I was hooked. It was soooo good. More on that later. :) However, I checked out "The One" and "All The Way Home" and they were both home runs too. Each single was/is flawless. The strength of the singles carried this album so high, although I listened to some of the album tracks and I didn't think any of them were really bad, and I liked some. It's on my list of albums to delve into further, but great songs so far. 17. Gossamer - Passion PitLike Love and War, this album is so high due to it's singles. After I heard "Take A Walk" on those commercials I was hooked. I LOVED this song. It's performance this year (it'll be high), isn't really indicative of how much I love it. It has a late 2012 run though, so that helps. It's just so good. "Carried Away" and "I'll Be Alright" were good too. I haven't really listened to many of the other album tracks, but I intend to soon. I like what I've heard so far. 16. Red - Taylor SwiftA late 2012 choice, this album is pretty great. The singles are mainly what got it here, with "Begin Again", "I Knew You Were Trouble.", "22", "Everything Has Changed", and "Red" all being songs I enjoyed this year. The album tracks and "We Are Never..." are good too, but these singles and my constant exposure to this album have kept it high. Great album, great singles. Zebra's Top Artists Of 2013: (20-16) (Cont.) 20. Taylor SwiftLike the Red commentary says, her singles this year were all ones I enjoy. They were so good, and still are. However, I got tired of "I Knew You Were Trouble." and "22" in a hurry. They are still really good though, and I love them again now. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does next. 19. Macklemore & Ryan LewisAn act who started out with my most hated song at the time ("Thrift Shop"), has finished in my top twenty artists for the year. I never expected this. "Thrift Shop" grew on me in a massive way and I have loved it ever since. It may have taken until February, but it hit number one on my personal chart. It was then followed by the number two hit "Can't Hold Us", which is amazing. I never charted "Same Love", which is a shame. It's not a bad song, really, but I didn't like it at the time, and "Can't Hold Us"/"White Walls" killed it. It was Bubbling Under for a while. I like how he is asking for fairness in treatment though. "White Walls" is perfect too though. It should have peaked higher though. My chart was really competitive at the time, so it didn't peak high, but I loved it. Most of their other tracks on their album don't stand out to me though.
18. Passion PitRead Gossamer commentary. Their singles elevated them to this level, and I really, really enjoy their material. 17. Tamar BraxtonOne of my favorite artists of the year, it's a shame to see her rank so low. However, I loved so many artists this year that she ranked this low. Flawless though. All of her singles slayed, and she really made me a fan. I look forward to what she has next.
16. P!nkP!nk mostly ranks this high due to "Just Give Me A Reason". That song is so flawless, and I really loved it in the spring. I rooted for it the whole time on the Hot 100. "Try" was another top ten hit for her this year, and "True Love" did okay. I didn't love it, didn't hate it, it was just meh. I like it now though, and it helps her here too. "Walk Of Shame" was not my favorite, either. However, her album is good.

:) 44 "Habits" - Tove Lo 3 "Superlove" - Charli XCX Shocked that #1 isn't "XO" instead. Thanks! I'll have to check most of these out. Also, "XO" > "Drunk In Love", imo. Both flawless though.
