AMAZING! One performance is all it needs to take off for real. Although I don't know if a performance of the regular version will benefit the song nor can I imagine Lana performing the Cedric Gervais Remix Unfortunately, performing live is not one of Lana's strong suits. SNL set her career back 2 years and I can't imagine she's gotten much better since then. I saw her live about 6 months after that performance and she was definitely coming into her own. She still needed to work a bit on some kind of movement and how to get around the stage (she had to keep checking that she wasn't tripping on the mic wire), but her singing ability was undeniable. I agree with the statement that she needs to work on performing for TV cameras.

Wow, crazy that this is doing so well. I personally hate the remix in comparison to the original version but hey, good for her!

Once this is done I hope they slowly go into a new album campaign. Not for a release this year, but maybe send a buzz track out around the end of fall and eventually release a new album in Q1 next year.

She has to establish herself first before she can release a 'buzz' track that will probably kill any momentum her previous single(s) created. Plus, she can release more international singles from Paradise while she makes herself a name in the US so as the new single from the new album impacts everywhere at the same time. Blue Jeans and National Anthem should both be tested after this one ends its run.

I feel like she's established herself well enough already, or at least as good as she's going to with this campaign. In particular, I feel that a 'buzz' track would do good things for her because she's done well in the blogosphere. Her US sales are very impressive considering that there has been no tour and no radio play up until now. They did a re-release and it did well, especially when you consider that Ride didn't become a big hit, even in places where her previous singles had done well. Her European tour has been very successful. Once that mini movie thing she's working on comes out, there's not much that can be done with this project. A release early next year gives her a good shot at attention once everyone else is tired from the Q4 push.

I completely agree that she has definitely done amazingly well in the US all things considered and that she's a huge name in Europe and Australia but I feel like BJ and NA are too good to go to waste. The US HAS TO hear them because they're just so good.

If they are going to send out any more singles from Born To Die then it would have to be between National Anthem, Off To The Races, Radio or Blue Jeans as those are the only songs that seem even mildly radio friendly from the original disc. In that expression I mean seem less depressive and sound like they could be placed in between other songs currently on the radio. It's actually a good idea that they are neglecting Paradise, as no songs on there could work outside for American and Ride, which I don't see crossing over big time. They wasted Young and Beautiful which in hindsight seems like an easy hit.

Been really into this. The single mix is just perfect. Listened to the original version and it's good too.

I seriously still can't believe I've been hearing Lana on US radio. It's so nice to for her to just randomly come on radio like that while driving. The last time I heard it the radio DJ pointed out that this was the Cedric Gervais remix and not the album version. Hopefully it was b/c people were checking Lana and her album out and were confused b/c you know...they were checking out Lana! If they release another single from the album, I would love it to be "Diet Mountain Dew". It's a personal highlight on the album for me plus it's upbeatish, which I guess could potentially help on radio.

I would love it for them to release "Blue Jeans" after this. "National Anthem" would be a good choice too. Really glad Lana is having a lot of success with this song so far! It's being released in the UK too. :)

A few thoughts inspired by the discussion from the past few days I think following this with another Born To Die track also remixed but to a lesser extent would be a good idea. I definitely don't think she should just send dancified remixes to pop radio forever, but transitioning from the radio remix of "Summertime Sadness" to something of her usual style would be too jarring and could kill the momentum this song brings. And the reason I pick a remix of a Born To Die track as opposed to a remix of a new track is that it would probably feel too tacky and misidentified to lead off a new project with a remix. So going from heavily remixed "Summertime Sadness" -> moderately remixed Born To Die track -> non-remixed new track from her next project is what I'm thinking, as something that would work in keeping up her pop radio success while not compromising her music and/or musical identity. My personal preference for the Born To Die track would be "Video Games" as I still absolutely adore it, and for me personally it doesn't compare to anything else of hers - but that's just my opinion and most people would probably disagree on it. I do think "Video Games" would be better suited to being 'moderately remixed' than, say, the title track though, but still anything could probably work. Back to the current song; I'm really wondering how high it will reach. I'm still failing to process the fact that Lana managed to get a pop radio hit by throwing out a generic dance remix of a random year-old track while the focus was supposed to be on a completely different track - but hey, I like her and I'm happy for her. I'm glad it's been doing well on iTunes since being released as it's going to need those (unless it pulls a Krewella, which I kinda felt it was doing at the beginning). Hopefully radio latching onto the track so quickly and good sales and hopefully good callout will be able to carry it to the top 20. Edit: It's being released in the UK too. :) ooh, I was also wondering if they'd do that. Do you know when it's coming out? I can't find it on the release schedule

I think something like the Gesaffelstein remix of 'Blue Jeans' would work as the next single.

I think this version of National Anthem is the perfect middle-ground sound needed to maintain her success on US pop radio.

I think this version of National Anthem is the perfect middle-ground sound needed to maintain her success on US pop radio. I'm sure I'm the only one, but I'd actually prefer that she release the album version of that song rather than anything close to the demo.

Loving the success this song is receiving thus far. I hope they push more songs from the album because it is FLAWLESS. Aside from the songs mentioned, I could see Diet Moutain Dew and This Is What Makes Us Girls also being big in the US. They could even try those two on Urban.

Blue Jeans and National Anthem are both great songs but song quality is not the only factor to take into account when releasing singles, timing is another.
The album has been out for a long time, and the longer they try to push singles to US radio, the more time slips to capitalize on her International popularity. Maybe one more single after this depending on how long it lasts, but they're hopefully planning a new project behind the scenes. Even before this started taking off, her level of fame in the US was high enough to give new material attention.
There's no point in pushing Video Games. Despite its lack of success when it first came out, I feel like a large amount of people are familiar with it. It's easily her best known song.
A Q1 release would also be ample because there's gonna be a big Q4 rush, so once the debris from that has settled there won't be a danger of her getting lost in the shuffle. The only big female artist that's looking to release next year right now seems to be Adele, but it looks like that'll be later on in the year.

I agree that her best bet for another hit is another remixed song from her album that's not quite this dancy. I don't see anything from her album being a big US hit in the original versions.

They should go with Off to the Races as the next single. Maybe just slightly redone the track, add some guest rapper(A$AP Rocky or Kanye) and send it to radios. I've heard a few radio hosts complimenting this track, so Interscope should definitely give it a try.
