I've never thought that she was incapable of getting a US hit, but it's been so long since the album came out that it's just odd seeing a song hit the top 40 from it now.
When was the last time an album took this long until something hit the top 40? Songs About Jane?

I just remembered that I first heard Ellie Goulding's lights for the first time in late 2009, although that was in a different version than the one that became a hit. |

It was such an odd decision for them to push this and it's even more odd that this may wind up being a hit. Not that I'm complaining, it was such a pleasant surprise to randomly hear Lana on the radio when driving.

I liked LDR when she came out but grew a bit tired of what was a good album. I never really noticed this track on the album but this is quite good, I hope it becomes a success and I think it will go Top 20.

I'm glad this is doing well so far, but I still think it's so weird that they chose to push this over 'Blue Jeans', 'National Anthem', 'Born to Die', etc. IMO, none of those songs would have needed a remix to make a dent on the pop charts.

Taylor Swift has the same problem, as does Regina Spektor, one of the most flawless live performers of all time. |
