jhomes87 "Still, I wouldn't write off a 5th single until we get confirmation from an official source." I hope you're not holding your breath waiting for an "official source". Comment wasn't directed specifically at you, so there's no need for this tone. It's perfectly acceptable for members to discuss the possibility of a 5th single until we know for sure what the label's plans are. Anyone can go in a thread and say "this is the last single", but that doesn't necessarily mean the information is true or not. All I was saying is that we'll either a) get confirmation that there will be a 5th single or b) the label will announce a brand new single likely sometime next year, which, in essence, would be confirmation that "Southern Girl" will indeed be the final single. I'm leaning towards SG being the final single, but we don't know that yet. But someone coming in here, making a statement, and expecting everyone to believe it as a fact is not confirmation. Aircheck has a McGraw advertisement that says "New Year, New McGraw 1/13/14"

I kinda figured they'd go with a new album, with Tim being his own 'master' now and all. Still, it's disappointing that so many gems from Two Lanes Of Freedom didn't get their chance at radio, while instead my ears were subject to internal bleeding due to the releases of "Truck Yeah" and "Southern Girl", the only 2 songs on the CD that I disliked.
Hopefully the new song is good. I am always up for new Tim music (provided that it's good), but just saying that I am somewhat disappointed at the single choices from TLOF.

Two Lanes Of Freedom was quite the album and there were bound to be tracks that should have been released but were not, and I knew that, but it's nonetheless unfortunate seeing such good tracks "go to waste." That said, much like jhomes87, I'm always ready for new music.

The single I really wanted was "Tinted Windows," but I guess I see why some of the ballads off the album weren't as obvious single choices for an older artist who's trying to remain relevant to modern-day country radio. I'm sure Tim will come up with more unique, decent material for his new album that will still get him mainstream radio success.

"Tinted Windows" sounds like one of those songs Tim would have recorded back in the late 90's or maybe even on the great Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors from 2002. It would have likely been a successful single back then, but fast forward to 2013 and we get stuck with songs like "Southern Girl" instead (which I'd put pretty close to my least favorite of the year). Speaking of 2002, why didn't we ever get "Sing Me Home" onto radio? By far one of my favorite tracks by an artist never released.

Seeing since the Two Lanes Of Freedom era is now closed, let us review Tim McGraw's chart performance from his Big Machine debut:
1. Truck Yeah-2012-#10 2. One Of Those Nights-2013-#1 3. Highway Don't Care-with Taylor Swift-2013-#1 4. Southern Girl-2013-#2
Average chart position: 3.5. Can McGraw do better in 2014 and 2015 with CD #2 from Big Machine? Stay tuned!

Does anyone know how many #1 singles Tim has to date?
As one of his biggest fans on this board, I know he's cost himself several charrtoppers in the 9 years since 'Back When' hit #1, and should be somewhere in the mid-thirties by now, since I believe Ronnie Milsap had 35 number one singles.

If they were going to only go with four singles, it's really unfortunate that we got "Truck Yeah" and "Southern Girl". The title track, "Nashville Without You" and "Number 37405" would have been much, much better choices. I'm always up for new music too, so it'll be nice to get a new album for a third year in a row, just a little disappointing seeing how this album ended up playing out. With TLOF so close to scanning 500K, I wonder if it will be certified Gold and cross the 500K mark before the new album comes out.

^If you're using BB numbers SG peaked at #2 giving him 26 #1 hits which includes that duet with Jo Dee Messina. If MB numbers were included he has got 30+ #1 hits.

Don't Take the Girl Out of curiosity (and hoping I'm not alone in my opinion), but does anyone (else) find Don't Take the Girl to be just downright dreadful and campy? Even back in 1993 when I was just a teen I actually disliked and still dislike that song. With that said, I throughly enjoyed the "Not A Moment Too Soon" album, but that song...just nothing but *cringe* every time. Yet, that's how it's been for me during Tim's entire career :|

I absolutely love Don't Take the Girl. Still one of my all-time Tim favorites.
