This is a remarkable interview where Shania candidly describes her near-death experience with COVID, her desire to reunite with Mutt, and her relationship with her son, Eja. I've been a super-fan of Shania since I was in grade school, and I've never heard Shania talk as much about Eja as she does at the end of the interview. She also elaborates on a project that almost came to fruition in 2010; man, what could have been!

Pulse Country Announcement: If there is anyone else who would like to participate in the year-end 2022 country rankdown, you have just about a week to send me a list! Here is the thread. All are welcome, even if they don't regularly participate in games. All you have to do is rank the songs from favorite to least favorite, and then send me your list privately. I will compile the results and then reveal it like a countdown to determine what Pulse's collective favorite country song of last year was! I'd love to see as many country forum regulars joining in as possible, so that our tastes are accurately represented :)

Best Country Song Grammy goes to "'Til You Can't" I love Willie Nelson, but the fact that he won for best country solo (again!) is why country Grammys have jumped the shark. Itâs about name/reputation with the ârightâ people, just as much as any other award show

Honestly, itâs not even all of the Grammys. It just seems to be the Country music voting board (which is separate from the others). A lot of the winners tonight in other genres were really strong, future-focused, and current winners. For whatever reason, the Country community continues to overreward the already-overrewarded, for the sake ofâŠpadding their numbers? Legacy? IDK. But for Willie Nelson to have received 2 of the last 4 Country Solo wins, and another one of the last 4 having gone to an obscure Vince Gill cut, kind of explains it all.
Happy for the Pearce/McBryde win. Nice to see them win for a solid song, and to see them both become first-time winners!

Best Country Song Grammy goes to "'Til You Can't" Willie Nelson didnât deserve to win, happy with the other two. When was the last time a song won vocal event of the year at both the CMAs and ACMs, and the Grammy for best duo? This song literally steeped all the shows!

"Never Wanted to Be That Girl" is THAT bitch. Love to see it continuing to clean up at the awards shows.
It's nice that Willie is still alive and releasing music at the age of 107, but he does NOT need any more hardware for his cabinet at home. Let someone else get a chance, jfc.

Qualifying it to Vocal Event definitely lessens the number of songs that could do this, of course. Little Big Town, for instance, won Vocal Group from the CMAs, ACMs, and Grammys the year of "Girl Crush," but that's not Vocal Event. Same for Brothers Osbourne who swept all 3 last year. I can't think a Vocal Event winner that has done this, so it might have made history! Meanwhile add win a Grammy to the list of things he didn't do ;)

I was really happy with Kacey Musgraves Performance. I only watched it for her and the Memorandum.

Love Bonny Raitt, but her winning is same vein as Willie. BeyoncĂ© still canât win album, and forget about rap winning album as well. Nobody is saying the Grammys should be who sells the most, but their winners tend to skew older and more traditional. Itâs not like theyâre rewarding the people who are critically pushing music forward either.

I wonder how many votes for Willie are sympathy votes because he had rough time with COVID-19 last year and he never won Best Country Album specifically (because it did not exist back when he was releasing well-perceived concept albums).
At least the album is great. It's my third choice to win though.

Willie winning is a choice. One award is fine, but idk about multiple.

She wonât. Those types of groups are the only reason she cares. Sheâs your bog standard moron conservative who co-opts an actual crisis as a way to slander Dems through Pizzagate-type conspiracies. The entire âconservative attention on sex traffickingâ thing is based on bulls**t lies and theyâve actually done more harm than good to people legitimately trying to stop human trafficking because theyâre overloading crisis lines with their dumb conspiracy bulls**t and causing groups to waste resources following up on idiotic leads. Sheâll go on national television to talk about child exploitation and then spend her time and energy promoting a party thatâs actively trying to lower child labor ages.

Oooooorr we could try NOT to derail this thread with extremist political rants that are specifically designed to intentionally piss off a whole bunch of people just because one can't effectively communicate their thought process without belittling and mocking people that they disagree with....
It would behoove most of us to ignore the bait and move on.
Edit: Oh good, a new page! That'll make the ignoring easier!

Earlier I said that I thought Morgan Wallen is the only modern country singer that could perform the Super Bowl halftime showâŠ..I also now think that Chris Stapleton could as well. He knocked it out of the park with the national anthem last night.

I never doubted Chris Stapleton's draw, especially among many non-country genre listeners like rock, blues and pop. Very easy to set up collaborations during the halftime show and the generic public feedback of his live performances are excellent (the National Anthem performance has over 1.7 million views on NFL Youtube page in 13 hours).
