Radio always ignores her anyway, but this is the most immediate banger she's put out prob... ever? I would love to see them at least try it. Sounds like a hit to me.

Sometime last year his wife said there was an album of like 12 or 13 unreleased songs ready to go so I hope that’s what it is

It’s a new song somehow here’s what was said in the email I got from his email list I can’t post the single cover or the email since I’m on mobile sorry Friends, It's been a while since we've last spoken and even longer since I released my last new recording. You have been my most loyal supporters for many years and for that reason, I want you to be the first to know that this Friday, May 3, I will be releasing my first brand new studio recording in more than a decade, "Where That Came From". There were times I wondered if my days of recording new songs were behind me and the gift of getting back into the studio to record something new for y'all is something I'm deeply grateful for. This song is a special one and done differently than any of my previous recordings. It’s a thrill to be able to get back in the saddle again to produce and share new music with you. You'll hear much more about the special team of folks who came together to help make this magical moment in my career possible in the coming week. In the meantime, just know that when it comes to me singing songs for you, there's always more where that came from. Thank you for singing along all these years. -Randy

“Special team of folks”… hmm, I noticed Carrie posted a heart on his social media post?? … Maybe some sort of collaborative album? I’m thrilled for whatever this is. If he’s really able to sing again in any capacity worth recording, I’m ready to support it! What a true accomplishment!

I noticed a tribute on his personal Facebook page a couple of nights ago before it was officially announced, but it was unexpectedly removed shortly after. It wasn't until the following evening that news confirmed his passing, which reportedly occurred shortly after tour rehearsals. Sadly, this loss follows the recent passing of his personal manager, Erv Woosley, and fiddler Gene Elders, just over a month ago in late March. No doubt, it's a challenging time for Strait and the Ace in the Hold Band.

This is incredible! Anyone know what the story is here? NO WAY this is his current voice.... This sounds not a day past his prime! But the mixing sounds so incredibly fresh and modern, you could definitely convince me this was a 2024 recording...

Not sure if it’s officially been announced, but Ingrid Andress is now signed to Crush for management. Some of their notable artists on their roster include Miley Cyrus & Lorde. Ingrid’s now on their website: crushmusic.com/

While I am not a fan of AI in general, I think this is great! It is definitely Randy's voice, just not him doing the actual singing.

Hmmm, I'm kinda torn on how to feel about Randy Travis using AI to create a new song. Obviously I love the track and it's so nice to have something "new" from Randy again and it's cool that he has a way via modern technology to essentially 'get his voice back' as stated in the article, but by the same token, knowing that this single was AI-generated feels... a bit icky to me in a way. I know his case is special (he literally can't sing anymore due to his health issues), but I feel like this just kinda continues down a path that feels... disingenuous because where does the line get drawn? I doubt this trend takes off to where modern artists who still hold the capability to perform their own music stop doing so in favor of AI, but... how could we really be sure when the technology is developing to where it can be borderline impossible to tell the difference? Idk, I get mixed feelings on the whole thing. Happy for Randy and I enjoy the song, but I'm not left fully satisfied by this.

Reba McEntire on the state of country music: Just like every Tractor here, I love Reba to pieces, but those were some non-answers there, especially about the state of being a Black fan of country music, and it was quite clear that, while you can tell she’s disappointed, she wasn’t willing to rock the boat with the industry, especially with her hosting stint coming so soon. I really wish she would, though—she’s one of the biggest legends in the history of country music, and I would argue that it would be particularly poignant for her influential voice—perhaps a voice second only to that of Dolly Parton in terms of being influential—to speak truth to power while hosting country music’s biggest night of the year. She’s at the point in her career that there’s nothing to lose—it shouldn’t feel like a risk to express frustration at her own industry. In fact, it could even potentially bolster her legacy even further. ”Come talk to Reba, I’ll welcome you” okay Queen, we love to hear it!! But what about those who were in the audience for Beyoncé’s performance at the 2016 CMAs and said “Get that Black bitch off the stage right now?” (Just typing that sentence made me feel icky.) What about the radio programmers and industry executives who outright refuse to give Black artists—especially Black women—the time of day? That was the perfect opportunity for Reba to brainstorm how to change this industry from the inside out. “We just suck it up and work even harder” very clearly only works if you’re white, Queen—and these days, it barely works even then. We see with Cowboy Carter and Beyoncé’s featuring of Black female country artists, and the reception to those songs, that there is a clear audience that would do everything in their power to bring support. There is an audience that would bring more listenership to an industry that has grown increasingly popular in the 2020s decade thus far. There is an audience that would watch these Black artists perform live at every opportunity, including on televised awards shows, bringing in higher ratings to such events. Shouldn’t those be good things?

There is an audience that would watch these Black artists perform live at every opportunity, including on televised awards shows, bringing in higher ratings to such events. Shouldn’t those be good things? Prefacing this by saying that everyone is free to have their own takes of course, but I mean... idk what more anyone could realistically expect her to say here? I thought she answered the questions very eloquently and put her heart on her sleeve when she said that she didn't think skin color should make a difference in whether someone is seen as a good singer or that if anyone feels unwelcomed, it surely wouldn't be at the hands of Reba. I feel like we put too much expectation sometimes on these stars, like almost as if Reba should have had some sort of master plan that she had rolled up in her back pocket. She speaks in open support of more women and POC on country radio, but she herself physically can do very little beyond advocating for that change. She cannot control what happens with PDs on stations across the country. Or with voting blocks at the awards shows in the industry. Or with making a black woman feel "safe" going to a country concert if the country act she's seeing is someone other than Reba. She responded to the questions exactly the way Dolly Parton always does when spoken to: with warmth and understanding while standing on the correct side of history, but there's no magic fix that can be offered up by someone in her position. A separate thought from that, but when Beyoncé first announced her country project I remember there being some pointed discourse on Pulse about the impending collaborations she had planned for the project and how it was going to be her opportunity to uplift black voices and therefore many were expecting her to not include any features with white artists... and then the album came to fruition and had high profile duets with Miley Cyrus (the current radio single) and Post Malone. Granted, she DID stack the record with black artists, but the females who ended up with credits on the set were featured far less prominently than the male ones (Shaboozey, i.e.), so even Bey kinda missed the mark with the power she was wielding imo. It's certainly helped with Shaboozey getting his flowers in a big way, but she essentially threw all the women onto one of the shortest tracks on the record, and it was a cover song. The significance of it was felt given the messaging of "Blackbird", but the fact that was all the women got felt like a void to me (like Shaboozey got two separate features so...). It's certainly not like it's Bey's responsibility though, just like I don't put that burden on Dolly or Reba, but I did find it interesting to note.

There is an audience that would watch these Black artists perform live at every opportunity, including on televised awards shows, bringing in higher ratings to such events. Shouldn’t those be good things? I feel that saying she has nothing to lose isn't necessarily correct. She is gearing up to launch a new TV show this fall, plus a new album. She's gonna have a hard enough time getting that album heard because of her age and that she's a woman. She's a legend and I'd like to think she'd be untouchable but with the way the industry has bent over backwards to protect the racist, homophobic, and transphobic artist like Morgan Wallen and Jason Aldean these past few years I don't blame her for not being more vocal. That goes for anyone else within the Country genre unfortunately. Look what happened to Maren, she is a great example of someone speaking up and it has nearly destroyed her career. As much as I want all the Country artist I like to speak up and say enough, we also have to be realistic that they also have their own careers and lives to think about.
