This is one sad, dreamy song. Oh, some sweet day / Gonna take away / This hurtin' inside.
#29 on the Hot 100 in 1963.
Linda Ronstadt's classic cover reached #3 on the Hot 100 in 1977.

Toi, I think you went into my iPod and decided to make posts out of some of my favorite songs in the Nostalgia section, haha. I absolutely love this song. Roy Orbison had a way with a melancholy lyric that few others can match.

I adore this song and Roy Orbison. Easily one of the best male falsetto's ever. My mom was a fan, so I listened to a lot of his music growing up. His songs are so damn nostalgic for me, it isn't even funny.
I absolutely love Linda Ronstadt as well and her version is also wonderful, but in a very different way. If I had to choose, I would definitely choose Roy's. But I think Linda's is excellent as well.

Love both his and Linda's versions.
Roy's did much better internationally than in the US. It went to #3 in the UK and #1 in Australia.
