A 2-week post coming this week. Actually...July 18 appears to be delayed a bit, but in this case it's once again on Mediabase's end. July 11, 2014Currents: - Fourth week on top for "Fancy". About 6 & a third separates it from #2, which was "Am I Wrong". Trouble is, Sam Smith keeps charging (6-3) and shows signs of overtaking them completely with the chart to come. Not sure he'll stop "Fancy" from nabbing a fifth week at #1, but that may be all Iggy gets.
- "This is How We Roll" continues to plummet: Down 5 & 1/2 in Positive, up a little more than that in Negative, and down about 7 full points, as it slides 14-20.
- "Bailando", on the other hand, shows some real promise, as it gains just under four points and a little more than two in Positive, as it leaps 27-22.
- Other second week reports: "Really Don't Care" barely moves, but the FGL drop pushes it up one. "Maps" gains exactly two-and-a-half in Positive, but loses just over half a point as it drops about one-and-a-half in Familiarity (somehow... ???).
- "Love Runs Out" returns at #30, with figures similar to "Maps" this week - not a great deal of love, but also among the least-disliked songs.
- There were no debut songs this week, and literally the only chart change from the week before was OneRepublic's re-entry.
Currents/Recurrents: - This week's "Coming Back For More" award goes to..."Say Something". Again. Yup, it comes right back at #2. It should also be no surprise that "Feel So Close" vanishes.
- "Rude", which holds at #7 on the Currents-only chart, leaps 19-9 on this one.
- "Clarity", after getting back up to #10 a month ago only to then descend, reverses course once again and leaps 20-10. The gap between it and "Rude" was rather tiny last week, and is even tinier this week.
- Other disappearing acts: "Locked Out of Heaven", "I Love It", "Die Young", "Give Your Heart a Break", "Love Somebody", "Diamonds". "Say Something" and the aforementioned "Love Runs Out" are the only returns this week.
- The chart goes down to 72 this week.
Currents/Recurrents/Golds: - "Love Runs Out" isn't the only OneRepublic song to return this week; "Good Life" returns at #12.
- "Lights" jumps nine to #31.
- "Good Feeling" jumps six to #47.

Chart's up, finally. July 18, 2014Currents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=C&TestDate=7%2F18%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - Fifth week on top for "Fancy", and probably its last, as it's now in decline, and Sam Smith pushes his way to #2 with a nearly four-point gain. Only half that distance remains to #1.
- Nico & Vinz, sadly, lose both their titles as the most-liked song and least-disliked song on the chart. Sam Smith takes the former, and would have also taken the latter if not for this week's highest debut.
- Tonight's pending chart action/finalization appears to have been taken into account; songs like "Classic" and "Not a Bad Thing" have already been shifted out of here.
- "Rude" leaps from 7 to 4. Though they gain four-and-a-half, they're still just over three points behind Sam, and unless things change drastically, he'll most likely block them from the top spot.
- This week's highest debut is "Boom Clap", which soars right in at #10. As stated, it's the song that takes over as the least-disliked song on the chart, and it's also the fifth-most-liked song as well.
- "A Sky Full of Stars" debuts at #14, with, more-or-less, less-impressive (but still decent) versions of "Boom Clap" 's credentials, as it does rank among the 10 most-liked and least-disliked songs each.
- "This is How We Roll" continues to hemorrhage, though despite huge Positive/Negative shifts against it again this week, its overall point loss is minimal due to a six-point Familiarity gain. There's a few songs below its Positive standing, but only "Wiggle" is currently hated more. Yes, that's right - Jason DeRulo's now on the two most-hated songs on the chart. The real reason it does manage to go up a notch this week is due to removal of no less than five recurrent/purged songs from last week.
- The final debut this week is "Habits" at #27, another one in the "not a lot of love but not a lot of hate" department - and, bare minimum Familiarity as well.
- The chart goes down to 29 this week.
Currents/Recurrents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=CR&TestDate=7%2F18%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - The yo-yo swings on "Say Something" again; it's gone this week. Actually, now "Pompeii" and "Demons" are easily the two oldest songs in the Top 10.
- "Love Somebody" continues to be that song that can't decide whether to stay here or stay gone; it's back again.
- Also back after a longer stay away is "Titanium". It's the only other song to return this week.
- Of the songs that disappeared from the Current chart, only "You and I" also disappears from here. Other disappearing acts (there's a lot of them, about half of which are first-time departures): "Animals", "Red Lights", "Let Her Go", "The Way", "White Walls", "She Looks So Perfect", "Hold On, We're Going Home", "Thrift Shop".
- All the departures means this chart goes down to 65 this week.
Gee, Mediabase must have been on a real purging kick this week - there's the batch of recurrents/purges moved out of Currents, the glut of departures from Current-Recurrent, and to top it off, all three of last week's Gold songs depart this week with no new ones to replace them.

July 25, 2014Currents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=C&TestDate=7%2F25%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - As expected, Sam Smith moves into the top spot this week.
- There's not a whole lot to report on this week. The chart is largely static this week, with the majority of songs actually seeing slight decreases in Positive and/or increases in Negative (yes, even "Stay With Me"). Therefore, while Charli XCX and Coldplay don't see very good second weeks, in truth very few are having a really good week this week at all.
- "Habits" evidently dropped back below 60% Familiarity; it disappears this week.
- "Cool Kids" debuts at #25 with slightly-better-than-average Positive, and it's on the lower end of Negative.
- "Black Widow" debuts at #27. Pretty much the things separating this from "Cool Kids" (that is to say, the only things where the difference isn't totally minimal) are Potential, Favorite, and Negative, all of which are in Echosmith's favor.
- "Don't Tell 'Em" debuts at #28. This doesn't have a lot of hate either, but it does have a bit less love.
- "2 On" debuts at #29, with middle-of-the-pack Positive and Negative.
Currents/Recurrents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=CR&TestDate=7%2F25%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - Not much action here either, but there's a BIG story over here this week. This week's "Coming Back For More" award goes to "The A Team", which returns once again - at #1. Surprise!
- "Mirrors" has a bit of an unexpected plunge this week; it slides 22-35.
- "Animals" and "Hold On, We're Going Home" bounce right back in, more-or-less where they had left off. "Treasure" also returns yet again.
- Other disappearing acts (besides the aforementioned "Habits"): "Neon Lights", "Titanium", "Story of My Life"
- This chart goes down to 69 this week.
Once again, no Golds in the mix this week.

Still no "Rather Be?" ??? Nope. This happened with "La La La", as well - I think it still hadn't appeared even after logging one official week in the Top 10. Didn't appear until the second week.

Apologies for not doing this last week. :( August 8, 2014Currents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=C&TestDate=8%2F8%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - Sam Smith spends a third week on top. Magic! moved up to #2 last week; this week the Top 5 remain static from last week.
- I'm starting to think that Familiarity might be over-weighted in their Pop Score formula. Four of the current Top 10 - Fancy, Latch, Sing, Summer - also are currently Top 10 in Negative, while having <60% in Positive (you need to be higher to even have a shot at Top 10 Positive, currently).
- Another case in point: "Maps" leaps from 21 to 13, gaining just under a full point in Positive, pushing it to 57.67%. But it gains just under four Pop Score points, and just over four points in Familiarity.
- There's also not much justification in "Break Free", which gained just over a full point in Positive (just shy of 62% now) and dipped slightly in Negative but didn't really move in Familiarity, should therefore only gain a quarter of a Pop Score point and get pushed back a notch to #17. Oh wait...it did also drop over a full point in Favorite. Yeah, yeah that must be it.
- Another Familiarity booster: "Chandelier" leaping from 26 to 20.
- I'm not really seeing what's keeping "Bailando" so low (20-22)...low Familiarity, sure, and its Negative is a bit high. So too, however, is its Positive and its Favorite rating; the latter is the fourth-highest on the chart.
- Oh, and how about "Shower" (31-26) leapfrogging "Black Widow" (holds at 27) - with nearly a NINE-point difference in Positive ("Black Widow" gains over two full points to 62.45%) and nearly TEN-point in Negative ("Black Widow" loses nearly two points there)??
- "Rather Be" debuts at #30, literally five-hundredths of a point out of Top 10 Positive, and with the third-lowest Negative on the chart (only "Habits" and "Black Widow" are lower).
- "Delirious" debuts at #31, with not so rosy fortunes - on the bottom end of Positive.
- The chart goes down to 32 this week.
Currents/Recurrents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=CR&TestDate=8%2F8%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - "The A Team" departed from #1 last week, though surprisingly it stayed on the chart (#4). This week, it continues its "normal" descent, dropping two more to #6.
- Also sticking around after a high return is last week's "Coming Back For More": "Take Me Home", which slips 10-12 this week.
- This week's returns? There actually aren't any. Departures: "I Will Wait" (popped back in for a week last week), "Roar" (again), "Jealous (I Ain't With It)" (spent its sole week on the chart last week), "First Love".
- The chart goes down to 66 this week.
Currents/Recurrents/Golds: Last week, three Gold songs popped in - "My Love", "Nothin' On You", and "Take Care". They stick around this week, with "My Love" holding at its #2 position (and actually gaining a bit on Sam Smith), "Nothin' On You" up one to #40, and "Take Care" down one to #43.

August 15, 2014Currents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=C&TestDate=8%2F15%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - Sam Smith stays #1 for a fourth week, and the Top 5 stay as they are for a third week.
- Prediction for the next #1: "Boom Clap", as on the airplay chart. It gains nearly three points from last week (moving 7-6), and the distance to #1 is just over 14 and a half, which seems totally do-able.
- Maroon 5 continue their suspicious jumping , leaping 13-10 and over Coldplay (12-11). Guess whose song people are liking more?
- Oh, and Sia and OneRepublic (20-14, 21-15) both over Ariana + Zedd (17-16). Kind of makes me wonder if Au$tin would be up for making a better in-house formula once again. :)
- Florida-Georgia Line are also in rebound mode (14-12), though in their case their Positive rating actually is going back up - up over three points this week, though it's still not terribly high.
- "Don't" sails in at #18, with a whopping 65.12% Positive rating, good for second-highest on the entire chart. Don't think I've seen a debut figure that high all year, though I could be wrong. It's also easily the least-disliked song on the chart.
- One jump that's worth its move, though, is the one for "Habits" - up from 29 to 24, gaining about two + a third in Positive. It also leapfrogs "Black Widow" (27-25), which gained in Pop Score but lost in Positive.
- "V. 3005" debuts at #30, with not terribly good scores - comes in on the lower end of Positive, and a bit above the middle in Negative.
- Faring worse, though, is "Bang Bang", which debuts at chart bottom of #31 with the second-lowest Positive on the chart (only "Come Get it Bae" is lower).
Currents/Recurrents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=CR&TestDate=8%2F15%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report - This week's "Coming Back For More" award goes to "Still Into You", simply for returning - it returns at #11. Honorable mention does go to "Stay", however, as that returns at #13.
- OK, make that two..."Holy Grail" returns at #18, about 20-30 notches higher than it had been when it was last on the chart.
- The descent of "The A Team" continues! It plummets this week, falling from 6 to 19 with a six-point drop. At first I'd thought it had simply disappeared.
- Who does disappear, though? "Sing"!
- Other disappearing acts: "Take Me Home", "Animals", "Tennis Court" (after an 8-notch jump last week!), "Safe and Sound", "Clarity", "Love Somebody", "Wiggle", "Treasure", "Hold On, We're Going Home".
- Also returning: "Summertime Sadness", "Suit and Tie".
- This chart goes down to 63 this week.
Currents/Recurrents/Golds: All three of last week's Gold songs disappear this week. Returning, however, is "Super Bass", up at #9 - much higher than it did the last time it stopped in.

The only change to the Top 5 this week sees Charli XCX jump 6-4, with "Fancy" disappearing from here due to recurrency.
- The only debut of the week sees "All About That Bass" come in at #12, with rather polarizing scores. It comes in on the lower end of Positive and with the third-highest Negative (only "Problem" and "Come Get it Bae") are higher, but also with the fourth-highest Favorite rating (behind "Stay With Me", "Rude", and "Bailando"). Hmmmm.
- Ed Sheeran builds on his second week a little (18-17), with Positive, Favorite, and Familiarity slightly up, and Negative slightly down. Thinking that he'll take Sam's Positive crown away from him in a couple of weeks.
- "Bang Bang" (31-28), on the other hand, goes up in both directions, albeit more than slightly.
- The chart goes down to 29 this week.
Currents/Recurrents: www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?Sort=P&Archived=1&FORMAT=H1&SEX=3&AGE=3&GRC=CR&TestDate=8%2F22%2F2014&newPage=Show+Report- This week's "Coming Back For More" award goes to "La La La", which jumps 16-8 - a new high for that song.
- Honorable mention goes to "Animals", which returns at #9 after a week away.
- "Radioactive", meanwhile, hits kryptonite this week as it plummets 9-21, down four and a quarter points.
- The returns stop diminishing for "The A Team" this week - actually, the returns stop coming at all; it's gone again.
- Other returning songs: "White Walls", "Loyal", "Thrift Shop". "Come With Me Now" is the only other song to disappear.
- This chart goes down to 66 this week.
Currents/Recurrents/Golds: Last week's sole Gold song, "Super Bass", holds at #9 this week; all of its points hold in place as well.

Libra or anyone else, are this week's callout scores working for you? I get HAC and pop callout scores, but nothing shows up for AC, rhythmic, urban, or urban AC. Pop is what I care about most, but still.

www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp?ob=3So what I'm getting from these scores are: If you are black, you are going to have the lowest callout scores. Which is a shame too, because most of my favorite songs/artists (besides Walk the Moon) are getting smeared from CHR. Edit: Not trying to start an argument here but it is frustrating to see the resistance to r&b and hip hop songs today. Plus CHR radio has never been so whitewashed in history. I just hate to see songs from genuine artists get snuffed out here just because hip hop has suddenly become counterculture to the culturally divided majority of this country.

Pop should play pop. Yeah its nice to have other genres make an appearance, but I'm glad that urban era of the early/mid 00s that dominated pop radio is over. This is the place where we wanna hear pop music, unfortunately black artists mostly do RnB/HipHop which is why they are currently not getting (too) much attention.

I shouldn't get mad when pop doesn't play what I prefer (which probably is stupid since I listen to urban too). It's probably just the cycle of music. In the meantime hip hop and r&b artists still make good showings on the hot 100 so that's a good point.

Iggy, Macklemore, Hoodie, Eminem.... All White, All Pop smashes (Hoodie not so much). All songs with a catchy chorus. The times where a rap song without a singer in it's chorus could smash are long gone It's true that R&B is non existent on the pop charts when there was a time when it was pretty common, and it's true that the soul singers smashing on the charts are white. And i don't doubt there's racial biased on some radio stations, but anyway blacks are very far from being underrepresented on the music business, not in the total numbers and even less in comparision with other minorities. There was an article on billboard about the lack of hip hop/rap hits in the hot 10 for a while, and i think it's totally circumstantial, in fact some songs barely missed the top 10. Music has its cycles, there was a time rap and hip hop totally dominated the charts which in my opinion is weirder than what is happening right now, because looking at billboard top 10 the variety of sounds is wide right now

Hey everyone, this thread has two purposes. One is to let you know that you can actually see the callouts online, they're public! I didn't know this, just figured I would let you know if you didn't. All you have to do is google "mediabase callouts." The other part of this thread is to ask your opinion on them. Are they really an accurate representation of what the public thinks of a song? What do you think? How exactly do they get this data anyway and what is the sample size? Can you think of examples were radio has kind of ignored a negative callout?

The sample size is shown in the top left corner each week. This week was 914.
They've been running lower than usual this year for some reason.

I'm surprised that there's no thread on the Top 40 Pop Radio Callouts at all, so I decided to make one of the top highest and lowest callouts from last week (Net Positive):
TOP CALLOUTS: *Jonas Brothers, Only Human - 75 Pop Score; 46.5% Net Pos. *Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber, 10,000 Hours - 68 Pop Score; 42.8% Net Pos. *Lizzo, Good As Hell - 84 Pop Score; 42.1% Net Pos. *Lewis Capaldi, Someone You Loved - 86 Pop Score; 47.3% Net Pos. *SHAED, Trampoline - 79 Pop Score; 46.2% Net Pos. *Post Maone, Goodbyes - 83 Pop Score; 51.4% Net Pos. *Maroon 5, Memories - 71 Pop Score; 47.7% Net Pos. *Halsey, Graveyard - 63 Pop Score; 42.9% Net Pos.
LOWEST CALLOUTS: *Taylor Swift, Lover - 61 Pop Score; 28.2% *Ariana Grande/Miley Cyrus/Lana Del Rey, Don't Call Me Angel - 58 Pop Score; 27.0% Net Pos. *Tones and I, Dance Monkey - 50 Pop Score; 23.0% Net Pos. *Camila Cabello, Liar - 55 Pop Score; 20.0% Net Pos.
First, I wanna start by saying how happy I am for Post Malone, he's dominating literally every single chart right now; top 40 callouts looking extremely well for him with over 50% net positive rating. As for Halsey, I expected 'Nightmare' to be a decent success on radio but i don't know why it failed. Graveyard seems to be sticking with top 40 audience quite a lot and I'm just truly happy for her as well. Also, Lizzo now has 2 big radio hits in a spawn of like 5 months? that's just incredible!
As for the lows, Taylor Swift surprised me by far. After the calamitous scores of 'ME!' and 'You Need To Calm Down', I was expecting 'Lover' to stick to top 40 audience like 'Delicate' did last year! Her callouts have been unfathomably terrible this year - no words.
'Don't Call Me Angel' in itself is just...not good! I love Ariana Grande, and I certainly do love me some Lana and Miley, but these callouts were expected tbh, this song doesn't stick at ALL.
As for 'Liar', its a decent song but it has no memorability tbh. The song just lacks a lot and feels like a CC1 reject, but I'm still a little perplexed at how terrible these callouts are...WOW!

Also, I'm quite curious to see callouts for Dua Lipa's new song "Don't Start Now". It seems to be sticking pretty well with top 40 listeners.

"Good as Hell"'s burn rate is huge omg. 24%. I get it, though. The song is fun, but man it wears down on you after a bit. "Someone You Loved" has the next highest burn rate at 18% and "Memories" is third at 16.9%. Crazy that "Circles" is only fourth.
This week's top three favorites are "Someone You Loved" at 33.8% (wow), "Lose You to Love Me" at 31.1% (also wow), and "hot girl bummer" at 29.2%. On the flip side, "South of the Border" and "Yummy" are both below 20% with 19.7% and 17.9% respectively.
"Yummy" also takes the cake for highest negative with a massive 40.2%. "Good as Hell" is second with big 34.5% and third is "10,000 Hours" with 27.3%.

The rank is calculated using a formula of my own creation. (I don't particularly like the "Potential" and "Pop Score" components. They don't really tell us anything.)
