I don't care about the vocals, Miley got me laughing her whole performance, that will enter on the "VMAs best moments list" for sure.

No doubt Miley/Robin Thicke & Kendrick Lamar although I'd give credit to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as well.

Miley will be talked about sure, but not really for the right reasons. Fuck knows what she was on.

1. Miley/Robin - Simply legendary 2. Bruno - Perfection 3. Macklemore/Ryan Lewis - Not fantastic, but very good overall
4. Justin - Wasn't interesting enough for its length 5. Katy - Underwhelming finale, but not exactly a terrible performance 6. Gaga - Disappointing, wasn't nearly interesting enough 7. Drake - Didn't even really feel like a performance 8. Kanye - Just wtf
Ariana and Austin did fairly well too

Justin, Bruno, Katy, and Macklemore.

Justin killed it but had the advantage of doing a medley of hits AND bringing NSYNC out
Otherwise
1 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (with Jennifer Hudson and Mary Lambert) 2 Lady Gaga 3 Bruno Mars 4 Kanye West 5 Robin Thicke & Miley Cyrus 6 Drake 7 Katy Perry

Lady Gaga had the best performance. Miley had the funniest and most entertaining, though.

Gorilla - I was texting. 07. Blood On The Leaves - I was texting. 06. Hold On, We're Going Home/Started From The Bottom - see the above photo. 05. Same Love - I wanted my life to be taken from me as Jennifer Hudson and Beth Ditto engaged in that terrifying lesbian staring contest. 04. Roar - What roar? More like a bore! I might have thought this was only just boring if Lena Dunham's fictional friend—and Queen of Brooklyn, if you're to believe MTV—hadn't introduced Katy Perry. So instead, I found it frustrating—which is a step above boring. 03. Can't Stop/Blurred Lines/Give It 2 U - White liberals cry cultural appropriation; birdbrains lash out, making all kinds of declarative statements. I say it's a little troubling we choose to gloss over the objectification of a 20 year-old woman. I mean, if anything was truly repulsive, it was the combination of Robin Thicke's new money gut and groin area thrusting into Miley Cyrus. Sure, it's her agency, and we all do stupid and misguided shit at 20 but Britney did not get a lobotomy for this. Whatever, at least people cared. 02. JT/NSYNC Medley - I couldn't tell what was more exhausting: the beatification of the 32 year-old, 3 albums-deep Justin Timberlake—who, by the way, isn't half the performer he was in his heyday—or the running time on that performance. But the real question is this: has anyone ever seen a Justin Timberlake music video? Ah! 01. Applause - An actual performance and an awesome one, too.

Justin had the best performance of the night, although I thought his falsetto was particularly rough and grainy at choice parts of his set. That doesn't really matter though, Miley stole the night and that's all people will remember this year for.

Justin, EASILY. The only other performance I enjoyed was Bruno.
