Exclusive: New Michael Jackson Album In November Disc includes 10 previously unreleased tracks By Daniel Kreps Jul 30, 2010 11:34 AM EDT An all-new Michael Jackson collection featuring 10 unreleased songs will be released this November, a rep for the Jackson estate exclusively tells Rolling Stone. At the time of his death Jackson reportedly left hard drives filled with unheard music, much of it recorded during the King of Pop's '80s peak. Jackson's manager Frank DiLeo told RS that he estimates that Jackson's vaults contain more than 100 completed and unreleased songs, including collaborations with Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo. "There are a couple of songs we recorded for the Bad album that we had to cut that are just sensational," DiLeo said. "Every time that [Jackson] recorded, he over-recorded. He would record anywhere from 20 to 30 songs for each album," former Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola told RS last year. Any of them could have been as big a hit as the ones that came out." One of the most noteworthy tracks was a Thriller outtake titled "Don't Be Messin' Around." Other candidates include any of the reported five songs that Jackson recorded with Will.i.am. Last year, a pair of unreleased Jackson tracks, "Another Day" and "A Place With No Name," leaked, and recently Rodney Jerkins, who co-produced Jackson's 2001 album Invincible, revealed to VladTV that he's currently working on the collection. As Rolling Stone previously reported, the album of never-before-heard Jackson songs will be the first in a 10-project, seven-year deal the Jackson estate inked with Sony Music in March 2010 — a $250 million pact that will also include reissues of Jackson's classic albums, new greatest hits sets, a DVD collection of all Michael's music videos and possibly a Cirque du Soleil show. The hybrid karaoke and dance simulator Michael Jackson: The Video Game is also expected out by the end of 2010. www.rollingstone.com/music/news/17386/186832

Will.I.Am says new Michael Jackson album is a Bad idea Black Eyed Peas frontman claims forthcoming compilation of unfinished material should not be released Finally, one man has the moral fortitude to turn down big money and protect Michael Jackson's legacy – and it's the auteur behind I Gotta Feeling. Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am, who collaborated with Jackson before his death, has criticised plans to release the singer's unfinished music. "He wouldn't have wanted it that way," Will.I.Am said. "Freaking parasites!" "I don't think that should ever come out," the musician, producer and songwriter told the Associated Press this week. "How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain't here to bless it? ... That's bad." Referring to Jackson as his friend, Will.I.Am said the late singer was a perfectionist who oversaw every aspect of his recordings. "Now that he is not part of the process, what are they doing? Why would you put a record out like that?" Will.I.Am first collaborated with Jackson on 2008's 25th-anniversary reissue of Thriller, producing remixes of The Girl Is Mine, Beat It and Pretty Young Thing. The Black Eyed Peas frontman later joined R Kelly, Ne-Yo and Akon as one of several musicians contributing to Jackson's comeback album. Frank DiLeo, Jackson's manager, recently cited Will.I.Am's songs among the list of unreleased tracks that could appear on a new Jackson compilation, due in November. If included on the posthumous release, Will.I.Am would earn a fortune in royalties. "So what?" Will.I.Am said. "How much can you suck from [Michael's] energy? ... What's wrong with what he already contributed to the world?" www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/aug/04/will-i-am-michael-jackson

"Posts" like this do not add to the discussion at all. You could have summed up your thoughts in a one sentence post instead of using icons to do that for you. Those are meant for adding 'emotion' to a post, perhaps to make your point stronger, but it just adds nothing at all. If you don't have anything to add and/or say something (positive or negative), then there was no need to have posted at all.

I think it's going to happen no matter what people say. People will end up buying it anyways lol. I agree... There's no stopping this from happening. I'm glad Will.I.Am is standing up for morality here, but when large sums of money are involved, such concerns tend to fall on deaf ears.

MJ was a perfectionist but he also was a spend thrift that owed half a billion dollars and now the bills have come due.

I don't like how and why they are doing the releases of his unreleased material, but it would be nice to hear some of the music. Michael Jackson video game detailsRelease Date: November 2010 Publisher: Ubisoft Developer: Ubisoft Genres: Music, Dancing, Singing Mode(s): Single-player, Multiplayer Platform(s): Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Nintendo DS (new motion technology on the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, which captures gamers movements.) XBOX Version The Xbox version will utilize the forthcoming Kinect software, which projects an image of the player onto the screen. Ubisoft's Tony Key said: "Your goal is to dance like Michael. Do what the guy on the screen is doing and you're there. It'll score you based on the quality of your performance." The Xbox 360 version will use Kinect in the same way that another Ubisoft title, Your Shape, employs the technology, that is by projecting an image of the player in game to get rid of the usual avatars. Furthermore, there will be no need for a microphone, as the one incorporated in Kinect will do just fine, letting Michael Jackson fans dance and sing at the same time without the need of other peripherals. PS3 version The PlayStation 3 version will be compatible with Move and will also need a microphone for the vocals, according to Eurogamer. Wii version On the Wii, it will have the same game play mechanics as the popular Just Dance, in which players use the Wii Remote with Wii Motion Plus attached and attempt to mimic the on-screen silhouette dancer. Nintendo DS and the PSP versions The Nintendo DS release will behave like Elite Beat Agents, apparently, with the player using the stylus to tap circles or follow pathways between various points, keeping the rhythm of the song. The game play is suggested as taking the form of a traditional Rhythm-Action title, with the players asked to press the corresponding face button to that which is presented on-screen. As players progress, new venues will be available alongside the new tracks, leading to some of Michael Jackson’s most famous performances. In addition to the Rhythm-Action game play, Michael Jackson: The Experience on PSP will feature a series of mini-games and a quiz mode. Few details are available on how these extras will be offered within the package (whether they’ll be available form the start or unlockable rewards) www.mjfanclub.net/mjforum373/showthread.php?t=34496

From MJFC:
New Details On New Album
MJ(10-8-2010) Jackson Estate administrator and long-time Jackson lawyer, John Branca recently spoke to Vibe Magazine and said the project will feature an all-star roster of producers.
"We are finishing up the album as we speak,” Branca said. “There will be some Will.i.am, Teddy Riley and Rodney Jerkins songs. We don’t want to put 10 unrelated songs together. We want to put together an album that fits well.”
While Branca would not give out any specifics on the tracks, he did say that the King of Pop was always very hands on during the recording process.
“Some of the songs Mike [was] working on by himself. Michael always over-recorded. A song like 'Billie Jean' was supposed to be on the Off The Wall album, but for whatever reason his team didn’t think it was strong enough. So there’s plenty of good new material for this upcoming project.”

And to think his team STILL chose TGIM as the lead (and probably his worst adult-age) single, which almost killed the album.

I can't remember where I read it, but the release of TGIM as the first single was because MJ and the label felt that with two BIG names on the song, it would overshadow the album release, so they chose to release it first to get it out of the way. Something like that. I don't think anything could have killed an album like Thriller. IMO, his worst adult age single is "Heal The World", close follow up the B-side "Childhood." But TGIM is pretty close, too. Another thing too is, this is the first time I have ever heard that "Billie Jean" was to be on Off The Wall. I was under the impression it was written in 1981, two years after the release of Off The Wall. I have been a fan for man, like 25 years, and have never heard this before.

IMO, his worst adult age single is "Heal The World", close follow up the B-side "Childhood." But TGIM is pretty close, too. For what it was, "Heal The World" served its purpose. But I didn't care for it that much. I don't skip it when I listen to the albums/playlists it's on though. I kind of liked "Childhood" but it was just kind of 'there'.

Michael Jackson's parents Joe and Katherine 'to divorce after 60 years of marriage'
Michael Jackson's parents are set to divorce after 60 years of marriage, after the King of Pop's mother Katherine tired of her husband Joe's cruel behavior.
The pair became estranged five years ago, but the family matriarch reportedly decided to file for divorce after Joe, 81, suggested she was to blame for their son's shock death last year.
Mr. Jackson, who was accused of abusing Michael as a child, said in June: "I begged her to go over and stay with him, but she insisted he needed his privacy."
Mrs. Jackson retaliated, saying through her spokesperson: "Joe Jackson's statement and conduct toward Mrs. Jackson are outrageous." Referring to the abuse of their children, the spokesperson then said: "The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget."
According to a report by Showbiz411, a source says of the alleged divorce explained, "She’s never gotten over [Joe Jackson blaming her for Michael's death]."
The couple became estranged five years ago and live apart. Mrs. Jackson has sole custody of her late son's three children Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12, and 'Blanket', 8, in Encino, California and Mr. Jackson based in Las Vegas.
Despite already being separated Mrs. Jackson was said to be reluctant to officially end the marriage, because as a Jehovah's Witness she doesn't believe in divorce.
The couple, parents to nine children including Jackson 5 members Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon, married in November 1949 and have 26 grand children.

A list of songs that are currently planned to be on the album has been released and it looks like the new album is going to contain unreleased material that he recorded in the past few years of his life as well as unreleased material from the 80s and 90s. I was hoping they would put out a new album of material he had been working on recently before releasing songs that are 20 years old or older. He recorded plenty of material in the past several years. Its not like all he had were a few newer songs to release

Michael Jackson video set to be released
NEW YORK – Michael Jackson's complete library of videos is being restored and rereleased, as well as a never-released clip for his song "One More Chance."
The "Michael Jackson's Vision" boxed set is due out on Nov. 22 and includes 4 1/2 hours worth of material, including the full version of "Black or White," which was cut short after its initial release due to violent imagery and Jackson's gyrations.
Jackson made a short film for the song "One More Chance," but it was never released. He was charged with sexual molestation in 2003, right around the time the single was released. He was acquitted in that case.
Other videos include Martin Scorsese (Scor-say-zee)-directed "Bad" and his most famous video, "Thriller."

Michael Jackson video set to be released That's great! I own the VHS of the HIStory release that had only some of his videos. "The extended version is also available on Jackson's DVDs. The original version (without graffiti) is available on the VHS and Laserdisc releases of Video Greatest Hits – HIStory (the DVD release contains only the "graffiti version"), and online at MTVMusic.com." So ideally, this release should have the true original version. Let's hope it does.

WestEnd posted this detailed info about the collection at DJRicoMixshow earlier today: Packaged as a deluxe boxed set, Michael Jackson's Vision contains more than four-and-one-half hours of video across three DVDs, capturing the entire spectrum of Michael’s pioneering short films (music videos).
● More than 40 short films ● 10 short films never offered before on DVD ● Includes the debut of the short film for the R. Kelly-penned "One More Chance"
Michael referred to each of these productions as a "short film" and not a “music video.” Here, for the first time, is the complete collection of all 35 of the short films produced by Michael during his career as a solo artist - 10 of which are appearing on DVD for the first time. All of the short films have been meticulously restored and remastered for the ultimate audio and visual experience and a bonus DVD includes 7 additional videos including “Enjoy Yourself” with The Jacksons, “Say Say Say” with Paul McCartney and the previously unreleased video for “One More Chance”. This is a true representation of “Michael Jackson’s Vision."
TRACKLIST DISC 1 Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough Rock With You She’s Out Of My Life * Billie Jean Beat It Thriller Bad The Way You Make Me Feel Man In The Mirror Dirty Diana Smooth Criminal Another Part Of Me Speed Demon Come Together Leave Me Alone Liberian Girl

Can't believe they are adding the dreadful "Cry".
The problem is, all of his important videos have been available on DVD for ages, except the TDCAU prison version all the previously unavailable ones are among his worst, so this is once again a pointless rehash of his stuff.
It's also weird to include so much stuff from the Moonwalker movie. Oh and "You Rock My World" is on Number Ones so I assume they meant it's going to be the long version then?

Since some of the stuff is unavailable or not widely available. For the collectors, this is good. But for the casual fans, of course this wouldn't be much of a draw. An official DVD or Blu Ray release of Moonwalker has not happened in the U.S. yet so that may be part of the reason. Although, they should try to make a release of that. There are some bootleg versions and international releases of it though. Hopefully it is the full, long one otherwise it would just be a wasted opportunity.

^That's true, the casual fans who picked up Number Ones DVD (which I believe was a massive seller) and even HIStory won't be needing this one for the simple videos like "She's Out Of My Life". So they indeed might be relying on collectors now.
They should have pushed a Moonwalker DVD/BR in the US, I believe in the UK it's been selling pretty well. But my point was that "Speed Demon" and "Come Together" add nothing to his videography and without the Moonwalker context they will feel ridiculous alongside the acclaimed videos.
Is it the intro of YRMW that's cut on Number Ones?

'Michael Jackson's Vision' DVD Boxed Set Available Everywhere Monday November 22 OCTOBER 13, 2010
EPIC/LEGACY RECORDINGS TO RELEASE "MICHAEL JACKSON'S VISION," THE FIRST-EVER COMPLETE COLLECTION OF ALL THE SHORT FILMS PRODUCED BY MICHAEL JACKSON
Deluxe Boxed Set Features 4 1/2 Hours of Content Across Three DVDs Showcasing More Than 40 Videos In Newly Restored Color and Remastered Audio
"Michael Jackson's Vision" Available Everywhere Monday, November 22
In collaboration with the Estate of Michael Jackson, Epic/Legacy Recordings is releasing Michael Jackson's Vision on November 22, making available for the first time ever the entire library of short films produced by Michael Jackson during his career as a solo artist.
Packaged as a deluxe boxed set, Michael Jackson's Vision contains more than four-and-one-half hours of content across three DVDs, capturing the entire spectrum of Michael’s pioneering short films that transformed the entertainment industry with timeless, pop culture classics that today’s youth embrace with as much passion as their parents did a generation earlier.
Michael Jackson's Vision brings together more than 40 videos, ten of them previously unavailable on DVD and each presented in newly restored color and remastered audio. And this release marks the debut of the short film for the R. Kelly-penned "One More Chance."
The simultaneous emergence of MTV as a television force and Michael Jackson’s breakout as a global superstar provided the most epochal musical/cultural shift since the Beatles. Seizing the potential of MTV's 24-hour reach, Michael Jackson produced and starred in a series of what would become iconic short musical films that redefined and established the perimeters, and parameters, of an entire new medium.
Jackson's short-form zombie dance party masterpiece, "Thriller," famously directed by John Landis, remains a cultural phenomenon. It recently became the first (and only) music video to be inducted by the Library of Congress into the National Film Registry, an elite collection of only a few hundred films.
Michael Jackson's Vision includes the full-length versions of the John Landis-directed "Thriller" and “Black or White” as well as the classic “Bad” directed by Academy Award ®-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Also included in the boxed set are Michael’s collaborations with such other noted film directors as John Singleton, Spike Lee and David Fincher as well as “Ghosts,” his rarely-seen collaboration with special effects legend Stan Winston.
Michael Jackson's Vision will be available in a limited edition deluxe boxed set featuring a 60-page glossy hard-bound book that includes behind-the-scenes photos from Michael's personal archives.
The state-of-the-art packaging includes cover art using lenticular virtual imaging technology to vividly represent memorable scenes from Michael Jackson's signature short films.

The comprehensive DVD package is probably going to be the marketing focus of the holidays rather than unreleased music
