Yes, the only times he didn't make the Year-End charts are 1970, 1971, 1978, 1981, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993 & 1996. He also had a top 40 hit in 1999 with LeAnn Rimes called "Written In The Stars". It didn't make the Year-End chart and it was his last Top 40 hit. To add, he managed to have a Hot 100 entry from 1970 to 2000. Since then, no entries. Although he did had a close on with "I Want Love" from 2001 but it only bubbled under (#110). Nothing even bubbled under since then.

If Simon Falk's numbers for Hot are correct, and assuming it stays in the top 20, it should make it with the week of November 30th, 2019 at around 175000 points. That kicks Go Loko out of the 2019 year end list and puts the cutoff at Walk Me Home. I don't think Ballin' or HIGHEST IN THE ROOM can make a play unless a remix comes out, so This Is It and Walk Me Home should both be safe, but anything could happen (the extra week might not even count and then screw both On Chill and Hot, sparing Go Loko and Robbery).

It was way better than 2018 which was just Drake Drake Drake all the time. 2017 has too much mumble rap. Better than 2016 too. Best year for pop music since 2015. im not sure if 2019 was better than 2017. 2017 had FAR lower lows (cough Tunnel Vision cough), but the hights were also far higher. DNA alone could make up for any otherwise terrible year

2017 was okay but the holy trinity of Castle on the Hill, Praying and DNA. elevated it to good.

Wow, a song that peaked at #49 is probably gonna make the Year-End list, huh? Well, El Perdon peaked at #56 and made the 2015 Year-End list due to sheer longevity, and IDGAF (which also peaked at #49) made it last year, so I guess it isn't too unprecedented.

I mean Talk You Out Of It will probably break El Perdon's record (it peaked at #57 and stayed on the charts for 26 weeks).

What do you guys think will be the cutoff amount this year (using rimetm & fhas' predictions chart)? Right now the cutoff is, bizarrely, Walk Me Home, which would be a ridiculous song to have on the year end but right now is at #71 at week 37 which means that at a normal rate of change it will be #75 at week 39.
At this point I kinda just want the year end list to be as absurd as possible, like see how low can we actually make the #100 cutoff because it would be quite entertaining if it was something ridonculous like Walk Me Home or This Is It.
Hate to quote old messages but the #100 cutoff might even be lower than This Is It or Walk Me Home, especially without November 30th.

November 30 not being included really is the worst case scenario oh my god

You're tolerance for 2017 will depend on how much you can tolerate trap (I don't hate trap rap for the record so yeah, it's one of the better years in my opinion), but the fact that year had Praying, DNA., Redbone, and Slide negates any Tunnel Vision or terrible suicide hotline songs that year had

I agree with you that Tunnel Vision is terrible though. I must be the only person who thinks Praying, DNA and Redbone are all just okay. Slide however is amazing so no denying that. Overall 2017 was just above average, certainly better than 2018 though.

Currently working on an analysis and ranking of the years so far, going in-depth with the trends and the big names but here's a spoiler for the ranking (from worst to best): 2016 2018 2014 2013 2010 2017/2011 (still debating on this one) 2019 2015 2012

2019 has been extremely boring, so yea. 2020 can't come fast enough Yeah, there are only a couple standouts from this year- When The Party's Over is currently my #1 for the year if we're strictly going by the year-end Most of this year was dominated by chart news like Wow!!! The Jonas Brothers??? In 2019?????? and Billy Ray Cyrus??????? haha!! and no room for actually interesting songs

About all of them except for "DNA." is something I can agree on. "DNA." is better than being "okay".

while weโre talking about artist streaks, I just realized that this year will be the first since 2014 that a song not written or performed by Ed Sheeran will not be in the top 2 of the year end

Good work. And of course, it should be noted that in all of these scenarios that Highest In The Room, Ballin, and Lover would fall short, though not by much if November 30, 2019 is included. We lost

ok so one weird chart thing that happened but never was or is discussed is how the fuck did White Walls somehow break the 20-50 rule to stay on at #51 for a 22nd week in 2014?

Easy answer to that, you know how sometimes Billboard will reveal a chart position on top 10 reveal day only for it to flip with an adjacent song (this happened to a couple of songs this week)? Well, in that case, they didn't notice that swapping 50 and 51 would make the new #51 not jive with recurrency. The same thing also happened to I Love It on the August 31, 2013 chart.

Simon Falk just predicted Ballin to jump 10 spots to 21. Does that change anything or is it still probably gonna get caught between years?
