Why wasn't included the week of Nov. 24 on the 2018 year-end chart? It's because of the extra week of 1/3/2018, where Billboard decided to change from being two weeks ahead to just one week. They had to not include this chart otherwise Billboard wouldn't be able to get their year-end lists out "on time." I don't buy this. The full Nov 24 chart came out on Tuesday 20th November. That is easily enough time to get out their year end lists by mid December, it's not exactly a lot of work required.

Honestly, I'm hoping this is the scenario. Having these late year hits make it feels much more representative than having Go Loko or This is It make the list.
Also, i'm too lazy to post the scenario 5 results. I'll post them if it somehow happens but.... yeah, 54 weeks is just absurd.

I don't buy this. The full Nov 24 chart came out on Tuesday 20th November. That is easily enough time to get out their year end lists by mid December, it's not exactly a lot of work required. It kinda is though. Because: 1) There's way more than just the year-end Hot 100 songs. They do year-end charts for many of their charts. 2) They don't do just year-end lists for songs, they also do it for artists. Yeah but how does any of that take time? It's just inputting weekly numbers into spreadsheets surely? And unlike us who have to estimate, they actually have the numbers. Plus they're not random individuals doing it in their spare time, they're a whole company working full time. Unless they've not even bothered starting it until this week, which would just be stupid, there's no way it should be taking them weeks.

I think we should close this thread once Billboard comes out with their official Year-End List. Sure, but I'd like to do a side by side comparison of all the year-end lists to see who came closest to the real thing, so we can declare a "winner". SPOILER: It won't be me. I think I'm still understating longevity. I added 10 pts per week charted, and may increase it to 20 next year, if a number of low charting, long-charting hits that didn't make my list end up in the real thing.

Random comment on the above, wouldn't it make sense to put AIWFCIY's chart position rather than showing it as a -out- since it's back in the charts again?

Kinda crazy that Post is on track to have every single one of his year end entries be within the Top 40 for the second year in a row, can't think of this ever happening once let alone twice.

I mean, imagine telling someone a year-ago that a country-trap song would be the biggest hit song of the year. also, even though they only provided backing vocals, the Dixie Chicks charted on Soon You'll Get Better with Taylor Swift

I hope scenario 4 is the one that’s chosen too. The songs at the bottom seem more representative and memorable than Eyes On You, Robbery, Go Loko, And Walk Me Home. On Chill, Ballin, and Lover are better and more memorable than those.

I would be okay with scenario 5 (on rimetm's predictions) as long as Ballin' replaces Hot and This Is It and Tequila make it.

So is eyes on you safe in all cases ? I'd say it's pretty safe, like a 95% chance it will make the 2019 year end list. Anything up to All To Myself I'd say is pretty much locked.

At most 5. There are 3 weeks in play so there are 6 combos but the one that excludes all weeks would make it 51 weeks which makes no sense at all so it's excluded.
