Idk if this is true but it seems that songs towards the end of the year somehow got more points than predicted and generally made it higher on the year end list. Is this because UF, TOL, and SYA basically took all the points away from the other songs while the end of the year was more balanced?

Honestly I liked songs towards the beginning of the year more so I'm slightly sad...

a-) you need to explain why you think that broccoli gave too many points to a song, and you need to have good and constructive evidence to back it up, broccoli has told you this many times.
b-) broccoli has made it clear he/she doesn't want to talk to you anymore, so I wouldn't push it.

I see what you're saying, Chicken077, but let me try and clarify.  There isn't a set amount of points to be obtained in any given time period.  Any song can accumulate as many points as it happens to accumulate based on how well high its sales, streams and airplay audience grows to (which are all converted to points each week).  Adele's Hello is a good example of how the sky is the limit for any given song, and how one song's 3 weeks at #1 can amass far more points than another song's 3 weeks at #1.  The total points of all top 100 songs together is going to vary from year to year, just like the total box office grosses vary, etc.  It's totally dependent on the songs and how successful they are in the 3 metrics.  Uptown Funk clearly was WAY ahead of the rest in points, with TOL and SYA not really even close, either... but still managed to score huge point totals.  Point totals are obviously relative to the formula being used, so they are going to vary depending on who you talk to.  That said, I believe my RATIO (relative distance between UF and TOL, etc) is probably fairly accurate.

I feel like Broccoli has been tired to explain now.
His prediction is based on the sales/airplay/streaming points from weekly data, which is objective.
If those data are accurate, the only factor that Broccoli can control is the ratio of these three data points.
There is no "giving some songs too many points" because it solely based on data, not any subjective adjustment.

Again, the 'great chart run' is not the main factor for a song to get higher position.
That's why the songs you questioned Broccoli ranked too low are actually that low.

Again, I'm the only one that was contributing regular predictions... so I'm not really sure how anyone else felt justified in chiming in on something that I nipped in the bud with someone else. I needed to say what I did publicly and directly. Ignoring it didn't make it go away, instead it garnered "well, I guess nobody wants to respond to me" pity parties. Whether you agree with how I handled it or not is irrelevant to me.

I encourage others to contribute more of their ongoing lists throughout the year. I got the impression that I was the only one doing any real work, and I don't appreciate what appears to be people using my predictions to create their own in the latter part of the year and then challenge me on them with vague responses that have no relevant reasons. If this isn't the case, then prove it. That's all. Don't annoy me with "you have this song way too low" when you're not putting in the effort to show or explain your own work. Everyone can make predictions, and do so however they'd like, but please leave my name and my predictions out of yours unless you are prepared to discuss it with me in more detail.

This isn't a competition- at least that's not what it's about for me. It's the process for me that is fun throughout the year. Anyone can take an existing list, move things around and get lucky. That's not what I do. Based on what I consider fairly successful predictions based on official results, I'll continue to track weekly, privately, and stand behind my final predictions. I may or may not share my predictions in this thread weekly like I did this year until I see some of these other people contribute their own, on their own, without someone like me as a crutch to do all the heavy lifting all year. Mind you, none of this would matter if I didn't feel like I was being used and trolled by certain individuals, but unfortunately that's exactly how it feels when you do the work and have certain people trivialize it in their own ways, intentionally or not.

I'm moving on from this now - I just needed to address it. Looking forward to seeing others predictions throughout the year to see how others come to their conclusions... organically.

Oh okay, I get it now. So there isn't an exact number of points that need to be allocated each week, it's only dependent on the songs individual performance. 100. Nice to see this made the cut. Not a bad way to start off the countdown.
99. Drake did a fine job this year, but I don't like this at all.
98. Say what you say about 1D, but I actually like this song.
97. Great to see this make the cut too.
96. The first song ever that did not crack the top 50, but still made the cut. Impressive, but unfortunately this is bit of a mediocre song to me.
95. Glad to see this also make the cut. Never gets too old for me, still love it.
94. Expect this to make the 2016 cut too. Very good message, lyrics, and song overall. She's got good potential to stay in the industry for a while.
93. Excellent song overall!
92. Made this year's cut too. Still love it.
91. I've heard better from her, but it's OK.
90. Another 2014 hit that made it here. Still love it.
89. Excellent song, good vocals, sad this didn't go any higher.

I'm not a fan, but I still saw some good in him and I'm glad he was able to prove it for the most part of this year. Btw, if he releases Love Yourself, it could potentially be his defining song and do well in 2016.

1. Great song in every way possible, it reminded me of the classics and oldies I used to listen to when I was younger as well. Nobody else deserved #1 this year except this.

100 - I'm surprised this made it. This was very overplayed here in the UK, but I really like the dark synths in this.
99 - Pretty decent diss song, the "back to back" bit is catchy.
98 - Bleugh.
97 - The warped instrumentation is very weird for me, but in a good way, not sure I've heard anything like that.
96 - Overplayed in Mainland Europe (especially Spain for obvious reasons), it's pretty meh but I vastly prefer Spanish-speaking Enrique songs over Simpering Loser Enrique songs.
95 - Very nice chill out song, nice to see this finally hit America.
94 - Sooooo happy this became a hit, can we have a UK release please?
93 - I'm usually not a fan of former X Factor contestants, but this is pretty decent.
92 - It's pretty groovy, like the chorus but don't care about the verses.
91 - She's done so much better than this. Also the chorus reminds me of Jimmy Eat World's The Middle

34 - Grrrr, I cannot stand Ed Sheeran, I'm sorry, I think he's one of our worst musical exports.
33 - Meh, it's basically the same 1 min song repeated 3 times.
32 - I'm a sucker for that sax sample, it's too catchy!
31 - Bebe Rexha is the best thing about this song, otherwise it's just average.

16 - It got very overplayed here but I don't think I could get tired of this song.
15 - I didn't think she could possibly release a song worse than We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, but the impossible happened. This is a serious contender for Worst Lyrics of 2015, she and Max Martin are supposed to be professional songwriters and yet this sounds like a 10 year-old wrote this crap.
14 - One of the most OVERRATED songs in existence.
13 - This is Ellie's worst single to date, she is capable of so much better.
12 - This is the first song I ever liked from The Weeknd, it's impossible not to, it's dark while still being very catchy.
11 - My friends really like this song, it's ok.
10 - This is by far his best song. I just love it.
9 - Crap like this is why I initially disliked him years ago. It's not sexy in the slightest, it's actually very creepy!
8 - This song is dumb, end of story.

Whether in the predictions or the actual year-end list, the observation that songs towards the end of the year ranked higher does seem to be somewhat true. This is probably due to the increase in streaming audience. I've noticed this before where changing market consumption patterns throughout the year can affect where songs place, even if there's no formula change. For example, in 2008 songs that peaked towards the end of the year seemed to do better, probably because of increasing digital sales, while towards the end of 2009 songs seemed to do somewhat worse because of slightly lower sales. Stitches has a decent lead over LIGLY at the moment....  I suppose LIGLY could have a slower downslide than Stitches maybe? It'll be interesting.  Looks like Wildest Dreams might have a bit of a rebound next week with sales and streaming getting a boost from this tour video.

Same Old Love will definitely go top 10 next week... and Hands To Myself JUST missed the top 100 this week, so look for a debut next week for sure.

Hopefully LIGLY can at least get to #7 at some point. Hopefully this will also be Meghan's third year with a song in the top 25 of the year end list. If SOL keeps pushing, it may also be Selena's highest ranking song on the year end list.
