Yes, but I'm also VERY certain that they didin't expect 'AJU' to hit a stone wall after blowing onto the charts the way it did.
When a single debuts THAT high (#24 in R&R, and the SECOND highest debut in BB since they reconfgiured their charts in 1991), and doesn't go to #1, then something went south VERY fast!!!!

There's no big mystery here. High debut based on hype and hope. Then the song couldn't stand up to the hype, so it tanked. People were dying for some new music from Gretchen Wilson -- until they heard it a few times. It's not a matter of posters being critical of the song -- it's what happened at radio. Fast start based on her previous record; fast collapse based on people's reaction to the song itself. And, given the short shelf life most artists have, I'm sure there are a lot of nervous people at her label -- but she's one hit away from the AJU episode being forgotten.

The simple fact that AJU out sold the first cd on opening week tells me that her career is just fine,And tells me shes goona be a thorn in the side of alot of dooms-dayers in here. Was it a good choice for single? No.Its probably one of my least favs on the cd.BUT i think "I Dont Feel Like Lonvng You Today" is gonna do VERY well for her.....

Everybody's bound to have a single soar up the charts only to run out of steam, but I've heard most of the new CD, and it's very good.
Hopefully she'll bounce back like Toby Keith did after 'Stays In Mexico' and the dreadful 'Mockingbird and return to the top three real soon.

The new one's really good! It's like night and day. A modern reincarnation of Tammy Wynette -- will this be accepted? I hope it is.
