It's incredible how she's racked up 13 #1 hits and she's not even 30! It's time for IDJ to put out the #1s album and tack on a few extra tracks.

Pitbull did it again! 11 years of a successful career and still getting top 2 on the billboard hot 100 in 2013 as a lead artist. His talent always speaks for itself. Legend in the making!

Weird how they didn't mention the chart points separating Timber and The Monster.

Also congrats to Pitbull on his connection to the new #1! Rihanna was supposed to be on "Timber," and now she is #1 on the Hot 100. The power of Pit!

Mariah is prob popping a few extra Xanex pills today! Five more #1s to go RiRi! Just remember those type of 'jokes' can go both ways and far deeper if you get my drift. ;)

I don't know so im asking Mariah has 14 solo #1s , 1 duet , 3 collaborations (w/Mariah as the lead) Rihanna has 6 solo #1s, 7 collaborations (4 as lead , 3 as featured)

It should not matter if a #1 by a certain artist is a solo or a collaboration. It is what it is.

I'd def. say slightly more than "nearly" of Mariah #1s were not solo lol. Like Rihanna, Mimi had at least 3 #1s (I can instantly think of) with other featured singers or groups (I'll Be There duet w/ Trey Lorenz, One Sweet Day duet w/ Boyz II Men, and Thank God I Found You feat. Joe and 98 Degrees) Some may even say/dispute that some of her other songs- esp. the real urban sounding ones had 'tremendous input'(*featured raps* etc..) from other singers who greatly contributed to the hook and success of the song (even if they weren't 'officially' featured or given credit w/ Mariahs name on the single). Nowadays, the way the music biz is, ANY key role one plays in a song almost assures they'll be included as a 'featuring artist' at the minimum.

Although I don't care much for "Monster" it is undoubtedly the most popular song in the USA (I thought it was the most popular song last week, but that is besides the point). Not sure what the record is, but four weeks at #2 before going to #1 must be one of the longer waits in HOT100 history (I think Pitbull and LMFAO had longer waits).

Which are these? She has 1 #1 with a featured rapper ("Heartbreaker"), and I'd hardly say Jay-Z greatly contributed to its hook. Pop stations were even playing a no rap edit.

It is what it is. according to Billboard I guess it doesn't matter.. but most of Mariahs number ones were sent to number one by Mariah alone. I think there is a difference when you have another fanbase helping a song's performance. its still impressive but it just isn't AS impressive as Mariahs run. only my opinion though

Why is there so much hoopla over the possibility of Rihanna beating Mariah's record of solo and/or female #1's but no one mentions that she could also possibly beat The Beatles - who actually have the overall record?
I feel like The Beatles' record for most #1's gets overlooked.

the beatles and Mariah. both took all (or almost) their number ones to the very top on their own!
now with all the collabs and features... it makes some people's totals less impressive.
its the same way with iTunes now, people have so many more charting hits.

Not sure what the record is, but four weeks at #2 before going to #1 must be one of the longer waits in HOT100 history (I think Pitbull and LMFAO had longer waits). I thought they debuted at #3 then waited at #2 for just 3 weeks. More than 50% sure that's the case. I really like The Monster and def. prefer it over LTWYL. Its way more fun, prefer the melody, production etc..I don't get the comparisons at all to LTWYL- only 'similarity' is it's another Em and Rihanna duet lol. MJ and Paul Mac. did 2 huge duets in the 80s and they also sounded nothing alike. Back to what's certainly going to be a continued heated debate as Rihanna gets closer to Mimi, if it was a man people def. wouldnt be discussing it 1/2 as much. Thats why the Beatles are barely being mentioned. It's just the fact that both are women who have very similar strong/loon fan-bases and whose personalities can be polarizing to certain people. Also, both obviously are still alive lol (unlike Elvis, Beatles, MJ and Whitney etc.) Whether they admit it or not, people and fan bases love to see these kind of things (two attractive, relevant/powerful women competing..simple as that lol). It's almost like a boxing match. If Rihanna main competition were artists who passed away or someone like Garth Brooks lol most people would hardly even be talking about it.

I really doubt that Trey Lorenz's name helped that song top the charts. lol but technically very true

I don't think it demeans Rihanna's success at all, but I do find it more impressive when an artist can get solo #1s as opposed to "just" being a feature. I think this way of everyone though. I know they count, but in my head I always have a little footnote.

You're right. Paul McCartney would be ahead of everyone when you compile his #1s with the Beatles and Wings, plus his solo career.

I've been saying this for years. Why not count everything? Paul McCartney would have like 29 #1s and Diana Ross/Mariah Carey would be tied with 18. I think the entirety of person's career, whether it's solo, group, or duet should be included to the #1 total just like counting features.

You can cout whatever you want. The list with the Beatles at 20 and Mariah at 18 is just one way of looking at it
