Confirmation by Aircheck Daily here:
Garth Books: Pearl's Garth Brooks is firing up the machine with today's tour announcements and a new single release from his current Walmart exclusive box set. "You know what, since it's you and since we've had a history forever, let's announce it," Brooks told ABC-TV's Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts this morning (12/9). "We're going on a world tour in 2014. I can't believe I just did that but you are a doll." Later on CBS-TV's The Talk, Brooks revealed plans for a three-year world tour that will make everything else he's ever done "look small." As for radio, Brooks' new single is "The Call" and features Trisha Yearwood. Details regarding promotion for it and tour are unavailable, though Brooks has enlisted Sharla McCoy to produce this week's radio tour announcement. Interviews are being booked for Wednesday-Friday with every reporting radio station and syndicators, and audio will also be distributed to non-reporters.

I grew up with his music, so no one has any idea how excited this makes me!!! I hope it's good, and I guess I'll find out when I watch the DVD. Does anyone know if he wrote it?

It's a great song! I hope it can compete with today's Frat, Rock, Fluff filled radio playlists!

I hope this is a monster hit. The return of Garth and Trisha is desperately needed with the state of today's country music. I hope radio embraces them again. I've been really rediscovering Garth's music since his special a couple of weeks ago, and am so ready to have him back in a big way.

Call me crazy but I'm skeptical Garth will be a big Hit on radio again with this song. I think he'll have a lot of buzz around him and Radio will play his music but I'm not sure this song strikes me as a huge Country hit in 2014. I could see it being a manufactured hit.

If anyone can remind country radio to not forget about the traditionalist listeners, it's Garth. I'm excited about this release, and just hearing Garth on the radio again. I was a HUGE fan of More Than A Memory (well after its #1 debut), and looking back it's one of my favorite songs by him. It's the drum in the song that is powerful, which is weird to me.

I'm pretty excited for this as well. I wonder if Garth is bringing in his own promotion team or if he's partnering with Big Machine again?

We're the same age :) All of Garth's studio albums were released by Capitol Nashville, but when he came back with "More Than A Memory" and The Ultimate Hits collection, he had formed his own label (Pearl Records) and had partnered with Big Machine.

I recall Scott Borchetta saying that Garth called him, when he did "More Than A Memory" came out to help be the promotion label for that project. With a radio tour, a huge world tour, and a new record to boot, it's gonna be a deadly (In a good way) combination with Big Machine with Garth.

Country 92.5 (WWYZ) posted "We just received a brand new ORIGINAL song from #GarthBrooks! We'll play it in less than 3 minutes... Listen here: www.iheart.com/live/445/" i'm assuming they played The Call. I tried to scramble to get to hear it but I'm pretty sure I missed it. ETA: Writers: Karyn Rochelle and Cory Batten

I just love Yearwood's vocal on this one.

Maybe with Garth partnering with Big Machine, that'll push Taylor out of the spotlight. :) I kid, I kid...sort of.

Makes you wonder why they can not get a Taylor Swift song to debut at #1. I know a lot of you have talked about the high burn out rate of her songs, but come on, she's the biggest artist over there.

The Garth Brooks #1 debut was really a special case scenario that couldn't/won't be duplicated again. He spent a ton of time away from radio and the national spotlight (years), then threw a huge party with PDs at his personal residence. Part of the deal was they would help him make history by having his song debut at #1 with a week long deal. I guess Taylor could do that if she wanted to take 3-4 years off completely from the public eye, but that's not in the cards for her career path. It wouldn't make sense to not advance her career just for a #1 debut.

I know a lot of you have talked about the high burn out rate of her songs, but come on, she's the biggest artist over there. Like dajross6 said, it's not going to happen again, with anybody. It doesn't matter how "big" of a star someone is. A #1 debut is not natural; it would basically require the coercion of all major media companies (Cumulus, Clear Channel, etc), PD's, and label people to get it done. That's surely what happened with Garth's semi-comeback back in 2007, but it won't happen again, not for anyone. "More Than A Memory" was that once-in-a-lifetime special scenario in which they could go for it without really damaging Garth's career, since he was basically still on retirement. If anyone were to manipulate radio in such a big way again, I think it would be incredibly detrimental to that artist's career.

Debuting at #1 is gimmicky, only suitable if you aren't trying to be around for the long haul. If Garth wants to be a regular on country radio again, he shouldn't want that kind of short-term success associated with his lead single.
I've enjoyed a lot of Garth's music, but I'm a lot more interested in hearing from Trisha. Just seeing her name attached to this song made me have to go play I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners Anymore. I hope she can use this duet as a way of returning to country radio, not that it's likely. She was one of my favorite artists of the 90's.

Didn't "Good Ride Cowboy" from 2005 get a high debut, as well? I think it debuted at #8? Along with "The Ultimate Hits", I also own "The Lost Sessions" album. I wished "Love Will Always Win" was a bigger hit. I think "Good Ride Cowboy" debuted at #26 on Radio and Records if I'm not mistaken. That is purely on memory though. And "Love Will Always Win" was another example of a song being too slow for radio. "That Girl Is A Cowboy" peaked at #30 on Radio and Records as well. The worst of the three IMO.

"Good Ride Cowboy" debuted at #18 on Billboard, I believe, which at the time was the record for highest debut. Keith Urban then broke that record with "Once In A Lifetime" when it opened at #17, and Kenny Chesney bested that with a #16 debut for "Don't Blink". Then of course Garth came along and made sure he'd have the record permanently.
And, of course, we've had some silly Clear Channel debuts that have been really high...I think both "Feel Like A Rock Star" and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" debuted at #13. And just in case anyone forgot, FLARS managed to climb all the way up to #11 before peaking, whereas WANEGBT fell back from #13 and never got that high again.
