Reading that article really took me back to that era. I can remember it pretty well like it was just yesterday. I was just starting high school and as a youngster, I was already suffering from severe bouts of depression with suicidal thoughts and terribly low self esteem, so "Beautiful" resonated really well on me. I will forever remain a "Beautiful" stan! I remember going to F.Y.E. and spending my $20 on the Stripped cd without any hesitations. My mind was just so set on it. I remember watching the video on TRL and Making of the Dirrty video. Her look during the Stripped era was so drastic from her debut, yet so raw and in your face. I can also remember frequenting this fan site and checking on updates during that era religiously. Waaaay before social media, we mostly use fansites to check on news about our faves.
I remember during that summer before the album's release, the site had posted an earlier version of "Fighter". It was more laced with hip hop beats, actually. It had no rocker edge to it like in the finalized version. When she had changed it to sound more rock, I'll admit, that I was little disappointed but the new sound had grown on me soon after that.
Then, there were the magazine scans like Maxim and Rolling Stone. The Rolling Stone literally had a random list of how many piercings she had at the time. I think they had said "14 with 2 unaccounted for". That was really interesting lol
I can also remember the performances she had did during this era like the Central Park one that MTV had filmed, and there was a part where Carson Daly and Christina was strolling around the park and having a little chit chat. He then had asked her if she was a virgin....she was like "Aghhhhh....". Basically refusing to respond. lol
Such great memories I will never forget. Stripped was certainly one of a kind.

I've only listened to that album a couple of times but her version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" will forever haunt me. Yuck!

Actually she only has 1 nom, immersive album goes to the engineer(s) Correct, I was saying that the project as a whole has garnered 9 nominations. She did lose this category in 2001 to Shakira, despite winning in the same category at the Latin Grammys. I think her chances are much higher this go around. The Immersive nod is so random, but deserved. Sonically, it is far and away her best work to date. I hope they bring over a good crop of those producers for her next record.

Not a great start to the night, but she is still up for 4 awards in the telecast. Traditional Pop Album is one of them (and her best shot), along with AOTY, SOTY and ROTY. She likely split votes in Urban Performance (double nominated) and probably did not have the support for the Mexican song category. Fingers crossed!

I am really proud of her for this one. Perfect combo of control, richness, rasp and picking her moments.
