Danny said it best. The top 10 is somewhat respectable but some of those placings are just mind boggling.

52. “Can We Go Back” 40. “Impossible” Individually, I adore every element: The piano, arrangement, vocal, and chorus are on point. But for some reason the whole of the song isn’t as good as the sum of its parts. The reason is that the list-maker is deaf 35. “You Love Me” 34. “Don’t Let Me Stop You” 32. “Honestly” 18. “Let Me Down” 15. “Never Again” That's more or less my top 10, but #1 is perfect! I found it way before it was even posted here... I thought it was irrelevant - is that blog even taken serious? Otherwise I can't explain us judging a random person's shi**y list.

This is random, but I really loved what she did visually with the My December era. The album shoot, the single covers, her outfits on TV appearances, etc. The closest she has come to having a defined, consistent image maybe ever. The Wrapped in Red theme was also cute, but there was just something about having the whole era united under a single visual concept that was very striking, powerful, and relevant.

I totally agree! Visually MD was her best era! She was that dark, mystic rock-diva. But I have to add that she was pretty My Decemberish even during Breakaway! She kinda went deeper with that look in her next era.. before brightening up for AIEW.

I think the "Stronger" era will always have a special place in my heart for numerous reasons. The material was really good, the tour was excellent (especially the requests - I still to this day can't believe she choose mine), and it really brought her back to form. She had that massive hit, had a good relationship with her label; the only thing lagging was the slightly disappointing music videos (Mr. Know It All and Stronger did have some good moments though).

34. “Don’t Let Me Stop You” WHAT?! This was a jam. "Irvine" ahead of "Chivas"? "Ready" at 55?! "Long Shot" < "I Do Not Hook Up"? Pshhh. I know "I Do Not Hook Up" is pretty popular here, but I always preferred "Long Shot." I don't know...I wish she had kept "hand in your pants." But "Long Shot" sounded like Jagged Little Pill meets something off of the Can't Hardly Wait soundtrack. I also enjoy listening to Katy's epic fail and then Kelly's golden nugget. Would have loved to see "I Forgive You," "Hello," and "Standing In Front of You" as singles, but radio was still in the dance-pop/rock transition. I still find it so bizzare that "Dark Side" flopped, though.

Most randomly awesome moment of the day - I went to the career services office today to have my resume looked over. I have an 'interests' section on there b/c we're told a lot of interviewers use that as a conversation starter, so I figured what the hey and put 'Kelly Clarkson' down. The advisor saw that and said, "I do believe this is the first time I've ever seen someone put down Kelly Clarkson as an interest...who do you have for legal writing? Because if you had my wife [one of the writing profs here] you would know that she is also a huge Kelly fan. All I heard last November and December was her Christmas album." "That's perfect! It's a great album!" "Yes, I do have to say it is pretty good." So yeah, my advising session was 75% "Kelly Clarkson is awesome" and 25% "your resume looks great." Yay! I worked with his wife over the summer and I already knew she is an amazing person, this just confirms it

Genres > Country/Folk Grammys 2014: Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers vs. Kelly Clarkson/Vince Gill (Maybe Tim McGraw/Taylor Swift?) NOMINEES FOR BEST COUNTRY DUO / GROUP PERFORMANCE:
"From This Valley" by The Civil Wars
"Don't Rush" by Kelly Clarkson (feat. Vince Gill)
"Your Side of The Bed" by Little Big Town
"Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw (feat. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban)
"You Can't Make Old Friends" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly PartonWHO SHOULD WIN: "Don't Rush" by Kelly Clarkson (feat. Vince Gill) There's seemingly a plot line behind every candidate for Best Country Duo/Group Performance this year. "From This Valley" plays into the drama behind The Civil Wars' breakup and divorce. "You Can't Make Old Friends" has sentiment on its side, thanks to the performance of real-life old friends Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. "Highway Don't Care" just packs about as much star power as any country song from 2013. All of the above are quality entries ("Your Side of The Bed" suffers from an awkward flow, even if it's got a great concept). Those who haven't embraced Kelly Clarkson's conversion to the country charts yet should reconsider their positions however, because her collaboration with Vince Gill best wraps both performer's talents into a classic duet. Gill never gets his own solo vocal passage, but he provides wonderful harmonies to Clarkson's lead, and contributes a noticeable guitar passage to round off the track. WHO WILL WIN: "You Can't Make Old Friends" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton The Grammy committees love to see music legends still making contributions to the scene, and they love it when two legends team up to make that contribution. "You Can't Make Old Friends" is a song that's perfect for a duet performance from standard-bearers like Rogers and Parton, and we expect the committee to eat it right up. The Civil Wars would be a great choice as well, but the committee understand it'd create an uncomfortable situation to put that pair onstage together. www.musictimes.com/articles/3686/20140124/grammys-2014-dolly-parton-kenny-rogers-vs-kelly-clarkson-vince.htm^there's a poll

All of the songs in the Country Duo/Group field are fantastic this year...she's in very good company. I'll be very surprised, though, if she wins. I'm guessing it'll be Highway Don't Care.

I always got A's on philosophy-essays ... probably becaue of ending each one with a Kelly Clarkson quote :)
I hope she'll get the Grammy! She deserves so many more! Wrapped In Red should be nominated in 2015, right?

The Grammy's love The Civil Wars. I think they definitely benefit from being an actual group/duo where as the other entries were almost all collaborations minus Little Big Town.

The Grammys re weird... Letting The E.N.D. win over AIEW (or Funhouse) and it's like forbidden for Kelly to win a country-related Grammy

Just a reminder that around this time last year, we were all swooning to death over this. (They definitely asked Carole King back this year, since she was unable to attend in 2013 right?)

I am not the slightest bit sad that she lost yesterday. I think it is an honor that she is nominated in Country categories. She is a pop/rock artist (a versatile one of course), but still is not yet a full blown Country artist. Also, she was up against alot of amazing artists and they are very respected in their field.
