Those sales are truly dumbfounding. The second best opening of her career. Check out her previous opening numbers:
Trisha Yearwood: 30,727 (with "She's In Love With The Boy" - #1) Hearts In Armor: 15,057 (with "Wrong Side Of Memphis" - #5) The Song Remembers When: 22,152 (with "The Song Remembers When" - #2) Thinkin' About You: 35,137 (with "Thinkin' About You" - #1) Songbook: A Collection of Hits: 125,797 (with "How Do I Live" - #2) Everybody Knows: 21,543 (with "Believe Me Baby (I Lied)" - #1) Where Your Road Leads: 39,021 (with "There Goes My Baby" - #2) Real Live Woman: 52,847 (with "Real Live Woman" - #16) Inside Out: 44,277 (with "I Would've Loved You Anyway" - #4) Jasper County: 117,502 (with "Georgia Rain" - #17)
So, her worst performing lead single gives her by far her best opening week sales for a studio album. Go figure...

I don't think this CD is among her best though and the sales are far more than I expected. I hope she can maintain and get a smash with the second single.

This CD is close to, if not, her best.

I'd say there was a lot of pent-up demand for this album--not to mention, it gets better and better the more you listen to it. Her vocals are outstanding.
Considering she barely did any promotion for it until it came out (or the week before?), this is beyond impressive.

IMO Everybody Knows is my favorite by far. Her last albums have been pretty bland to me. Good to see these numbers even though the cd is boring to me.

Very happy for Trisha. I have to say, her last two CDs were, honestly, precious to me. RLW and IO had some KILLER songs on them, and the lack of commercial success, while not baffling, was disappointing. It doesn't surprise me that this CD - which is fluffier, is doing better commerically.

I haven't bought this album yet, but I deifnitley will. I saw her last night on a public television performance that was filmed just a few weeks ago and, as usual, she sounded absolutely incredible. I wasn't a huge fan of "georgia rain", but I'm very interested to hear the other tracks, especially after reading all the varied reviews on this thread.

I would have appreciated having 14 or 15 songs instead of 11, but I think it's a strong album. She's in good form on Who Invented the Wheel, River of You, Sweet Love, Gimme the Good Stuff (my pick for second single, but it'll never happen) -- she sounds very good, and the arrangements and vocal interpretations are solid. There isn't anything amazing on the record (I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners qualifies as amazing for me) but I enjoyed it, and won't regret its purchase. I didn't love the ballads, which were disappointing, considering how well she generally sings ballads. Good album, though.

Gimme the Good Stuff (my pick for second single, but it'll never happen) I don't know. She's singing it on the Ellen DeGeneres show as I type this. I also like "Try Me" and "Trying To Love You." ~ Jim

Congrats to Trisha - Jasper County has been certified gold. This has taken less than 2 months, while it took her last album, Inside Out, over a year to do this. Trisha and MCA have to be happy with JC's performance so far.

I know certification is for shipments not sales, but it's ridiculous when this album has yet to sell 250,000 and is being certified Gold(500,000)
