Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Era

NIn his recent Forbes Magazine interview Bruno confirmed he's been already collecting ideas for his next album:

“I remember touring Doo-Wops & Hooligans, and I was like, ‘Man, the next time around, I want a song that feels like ‘Locked out of Heaven,’” he says. “I feel like live instrumentation is such a big part of our tour and what we do. Maybe there was a void in that for me on the first album, and that’s why I kind of pushed it more on Unorthodox Jukebox.”

These days, life on the road once again has Mars thinking about new material.

“I’m already starting to get excited about going back in the studio and creating more, now that I’m out on the road and basically playing my entire catalogue,” he says. “I feel like there’s definitely some other creative places I haven’t journeyed into yet that I’d like to take the next album to.”

I doubt he will stop releasing one or two 'sappy ballads' per album anytime soon. The average Jane loves that kind of songs from him.

Creatively speaking, Jukebox was a step in the right direction after Doo-Wops. I'm excited to see where he goes next.

Just please, give us a longer album. Hell, a 12 songs album would be amazing.

I'm excited for this. I've enjoyed both of his albums and think the second was definitely a step in the right direction.

I don't expect him to drop the ballads because those have obviously worked really well for him at a period when pop music was mostly about tempo, and then when it started to shift. They also work well as a foil to the more aggressive stuff like LOOH and Gorilla and showcase him well as a diverse talent overall. I just hope that they're at least more...muscular than stuff like When I Was Your Man. You can do emotional ballads with more than just a dull piano progression (same goes for Rihanna and Stay).

I don't want him to stop recording ballads. Hell no. I love his melodies. But for God's sake, he needs to make them less chessy. The overwhelming sweetness of his debut album was too much to handle for me. But "The Jukebox" just blew me away, I think partly because of the fact that it was released only 2 years after D-W&H.

This probably won't happen. Bruno said in one of his Billboard interviews that all his favourite albums have max 10 tracks on the setlist, and he thinks it's why makes them so good. Why should he change it? That +70 minute long material we got from him so far did wonders for him. Sometimes really less means more.

One of the things that I really loved about UJ was that it was short and straight to the point. All of the songs were well written and great versions of what they could have been. Yes, there was some extreme cheese present, but it was still well done cheese.

After this year with Justin Timberlake bloated releases, as well as stuff like ARTPOP and some of PRISM, I am so here for a short, but fully solid album. If you only have 10 great songs, why tack on 2-5 weaker ones to weaken the whole project? Just dump the weak stuff, and focus on making sure that the production on those 10 great songs is the best it can be.

Going from 10 to 12 tracks doesn't mean those 2 extra tracks have to be generic filler. I think if anyone, he's more than capable of writing and recording 12 solid songs.

Well, I didn't mean he's uncapable of writing 12 quality songs for one album, but if his 3rd album happen to have 10 tracks only It would be save to assume such a short tracklist is kinda his thing and both the fans and casual listeners will have to deal with it.

I don't think either of his albums are even close to filler-free, so judging by his history, I think he could benefit from a tighter tracklisting unless his material improves.

Well, it's not a secret Bruno started performing when he was 3-4 y.o. At first, only as an Elvis impersonator, but soon he became a full-time performer in his father's cover band The Love Notes, doing six shows a week in Waikkiki, Hawaii for years.
Finally, some of his performences leaked. (They were posted in October, no one really found them until now )

The singer-songwriter-producer, who has penned hits like CeeLo Green’s “Forget You!” and B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You,” says he’s not interested in churning out tracks for other artists like he’s done in the past.

"There’s a piece of me that’s no longer there — which was basically let me write a song and then sell it," Mars said in a recent interview. “That was back in the day when I was struggling and hustling to pay rent. I was selling songs for 250 bucks … but now that I’m OK, I shouldn’t treat it like a sport.”

Pepsi, Microsft, LG among advertisers chasing Bruno Mars

Corporate America is craving Bruno Mars — but the 28-year- old Grammy Award winning singer has yet to fall in love with Madison Avenue.

Mars, whose worldwide fame is expected to grow enormously after his Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, has so far turned a deaf ear on the host of endorsement offers sitting in his lap, sources said.

Microsoft, LG Electronics, Beats and a range of soft drink firms are chasing the Hawaiian-born star, who has 17.6 million Twitter followers, a source told The Post.

If marketers had their way, Mars would look more like a Nascar driver than the cool crooner he is.

Jarrod Moses, a branding expert, told The Post that if Sunday is a fun day for Mars, the singer will be able to jack up his endorsement fee ask to “$2 million to $4 million.”

Mars’ music has been licensed to appear in ads for Hyundai and Pepsi.

Mars was named Billboard artist of the year in 2013 and picked up a Grammy Award last weekend.

The Warner Music Group artist is worth around $17 million, according to reports.

“Mars appeals to Latin Americans, he’s pop, he’s an amazing musician and an amazing persona,” Moses added. “He’s been smart to be conservative.”

Meanwhile Mars’ label, Warner’s Atlantic Records, is gearing up to make the most of his Super Bowl appearance. His latest tour, “Moonshine Jungle,” continues this winter. Mars is also set to be a guest DJ for Apple’s iRadio.
