^ Most of these are not that well known by me but there are a few. -Kevin Sharp I thought had some great music. Even his Make A Wish album was good in the mid 2000's. "I Think I'll Stay" I'm surprised didn't at least chart. That song is the definition of catchy. I was a big fan of Kevin's Measure of a Man album. Another one of those during that time that I had on repeat. Still have to pop it in and listen to "Nobody Knows" now and again when I'm feeling blue.

I just went through my library of albums and picked out some really obscure artists; Does anybody remember these names? Allison Paige, Amie Comeaux, Archer Park, B.B. Watson, Baker & Myers, Blake & Brian, Bobbie Cryner, Brother Phelps, Bryan Austin, Butch Baker, Cee Cee Chapman, Chad Austin, Chris Cummings, Claudia Church, Cleve Francis, Crystal Bernard, Dale Daniel, Daniele Alexander, Danni Leigh, Dean Miller, Deryl Dodd, Dude Mowrey, Eddie London, Elbert West, Emilio, Frazier River, Greg Holland, Helen Darling, James House, Jameson Clark, Jason Rigenberg, Jeff Wood, Jennifer Day, Jenny Simpson, Jerry Kilgore, JJ White, Joanie Keller, Joanna Janet, Julian Austin, Karen Staley, Keith Perry, Keith Harling, Keith Stegall, Kevin Sharp, Kim Hill, Kippi Brannon, Kris Tyler, Leslie Satcher, Lisa Stewart, The Lynns, Marcus Hummon, The Marcy Bros., Mark Nesler, Marsha Thornton, Marshall Dyllon, Matthews, Wright & King, Melodie Crittenden, Michael Martin Murphy, Michael White, Mike Walker, Mila Mason, Monty Holmes, Noah Gordon, Noel Haggard, Orrall & Wright, Pake McEntire, Paul Brandt, Paul Jefferson, Paul Overstreet, Paulette Carlson, Raybon Brothers, Redmon & Vale, Regina Regina, The Remingtons, Rick Ferrell, Ricky Lynn Gregg, Rob Crosby, Robert Ellis Orrall, Roger Ballard, The Roger Springer Band, Ronna Reeves, Roxie Dean, Ruby Lovett, Shane Minor, Shane Stockton, Sharon Anderson, Smokin' Armadillos, Sons Of The Desert, Sonya Isaacs, South 65, Stephanie Bentley, Stephanie Davis, Steven Wayne Horton, Susan Ashton, Tamara Walker, Tammy Graham, Tara Lyn Hart, Thrasher Shiver, Tim Ryan, Tony Toliver, Turner Nichols, Twister Alley, Victoria Shaw, Wayland Patton, Wesley Dennis, Wild Rose, Woody Lee, Zaca Creek, 3 Of Hearts, 4 Runner & 10 City Run. Those are all the artists I've rarely ever heard mentioned on here that I own at least one album from. I've bolded the ones I've heard of, but at most I've heard only one song by each of them. I know Keith Stegall as Alan Jackson's producer. Looks like I have a lot of work to do when it comes to obscure '90s artists. Totally saving this list.

I have to say I love Steve Azar, I have all his albums and I don't think there's a weak track on any of them. My favorite single is easily "You're My Life", but really all of his singles were great! I really love "Dreams Of A Dancer" from his first album, it's really catchy to me. There's tons of artists that came and went in the 90's which is why talking about them all for 8 hours and we've still only scratched the surface. :) I remember Pearl River, they're on my list of albums to buy along with Palomino Road & Burnin' Daylight. Those are all the artists I've rarely ever heard mentioned on here that I own at least one album from. I recently purchased some of these off your list, i believe you had one similar before. I thought Rick Ferell was a decent enough album. I really enjoyed Elbert West,Shane Stockton, and Noah Gordon's albums with Noah Gordon probably being my favorite, being that's the style i enjoy the most. Also found a guy named "Rick Vincent" who was good as well. I need to check out some more of these because there is some good stuff here.

I remember a lot of these, although I'd forgotten some of them until reading their names again. Some of them I just remember the artists' names and not their songs. Three of my very favorite songs are Blake & Brian's "Another Perfect Day," South 65's "A Random Act of Senseless Kindness," and Deryl Dodd's "A Bitter End." Crystal Bernard is better known as an actress; I think she's best known for playing Helen on the TV series Wings. I don't put Michael Martin Murphey in the same category as the others because he was very successful for several years. He had 12 Top 10 country hits, two of them #1: "What's Forever For" (also a Top 20 pop and Top 5 AC hit) and "A Long Line of Love." When his chart success waned he left mainstream country for cowboy music and later bluegrass. Another name I'll add is brother act Darryl & Don Ellis. They had three chart singles in 1992, the highest of which peaked at #58. That was the title song from their debut album, "No Sir." That was another of my favorite songs from that era (I liked MANY ballads that didn't chart very high from that era). Don Ellis later co-wrote a couple songs on Blake Shelton's first two albums (back when Blake actually recorded good country music).

Just heard a great song...and so I have to post my own Random Video of the Day (or should I say Night?)
Artist: Gary Allan Single: "Smoke Rings In The Dark" Writers: Rivers Rutherford, Houston Robert Album: Smoke Rings In The Dark Label: MCA Nashville Video Director: Chris Rogers Year Released: August 1999 Billboard Peak: #12
"Smoke Rings In The Dark" was the lead single and title track to Gary's 3rd album, which was released on October 26, 1999, and became his first Platinum album. Gary's first single from 1996, "Her Man", got up to #7 but all 3 of the follow-ups missed the top 40. When he returned with his second album, the lead single "It Would Be You" also climbed as high as #7 and both follow-ups once again missed the top 40. "Smoke Rings In The Dark" managed to climb as high as #12. The follow-up, "Lovin' You Against My Will", stalled out at #34, but Gary finally had a bigger breakthrough with the 2000 release of "Right Where I Need To Be", the 3rd single from Smoke Rings In The Dark. "Right Where I Need To Be" was Gary's first top 5 hit, peaking at #5.
The song "Smoke Rings In The Dark" talks about a man and the pain of loneliness as well as unrequited love, with lyrics such as "And all I'm takin' with me are the pieces of my heart, and all I'll leave are smoke rings in the dark" in addition to lines like "So I'm not gonna wake you, I'll go easy on your heart. I'll just touch your face and drift away like smoke rings in the dark." Billboard praised the song, including the production and songwriting, as well as Gary's performance and the overall 'retro' feel of the song.
The video includes scenes of Gary and his band performing at a bar, as well as scenes in which Gary plays the broken-hearted man from the song.

But I'm glad it's in this thread too now...Great minds think alike I guess...I wanna do a wink face, but I'm not an expert on the mobile device. Lol This is my favorite Gary song. One word COOL! The sound of this song is so awesome, yet haunting. And Gary's vocal performance seals the deal. To this day I think it's one of the best singles ever released to country radio.

Haha, I couldn't remember if you had done this one sabre14, but it's one of my all-time favorites. I thought about doing another Gary song but I just happened to hear this one earlier in my day and it's been stuck in my head. Probably my second favorite song of his, only behind "Best I Ever Had".

Yes. "Best I Ever Had" is my second favorite. I haven't heard this song on a radio station since I was a kid. It's great you heard it today. It's a shame this wasn't a #1 for him. He always plays it live though at his shows. Again, words can't express how much I love this song.

I remember "Smoke Rings in the Dark," and I remember his early pattern of one #7 song per album followed by songs dying in the 40's. Blake Shelton had a somewhat similar pattern with his first two albums (although less dramatic). The first single from both albums hit #1, with all of the follow-ups falling short of the Top 10 (although, unlike Gary, they did at least make the Top 40). Blake broke the pattern with his third album when the second single hit #1 (after the first single stopped at #37).
One song of Gary's in particular I think should have fared better is "Forever and a Day," the follow-up to "Her Man." It had a rockabilly sound.

^If only Gary had gone on to become as popular as Blake is. I don't dislike Blake, but most of his music over the last few years just hasn't been that great. Gary, on the other hand, has never let me down. He has this raw, gritty, and soulful sound to his voice and you hear it in all of his songs. I think I prefer his voice more than any other's. Gary can interpret a song in such a powerful way as well.

Those are all the artists I've rarely ever heard mentioned on here that I own at least one album from. Great list. I own albums from quite a few of those, but most I don't. I'm drawing a complete blank on Eddie London, Kim Hill, and Roger Ballard. A few that I own which are not on your list are: Joy White, George Ducas, Junior Brown, Iris Dement, George Fox, The Cactus Brothers, Mike Henderson, Stacy Dean Campbell, Girls Next Door, Clinton Gregory, Dean Dillon, Mandy Barnett, and Larry Boone. The Cactus Brothers are probably most well known for being the band performing in the night club scenes in George Strait's movie, Pure Country. Also, there is a great instrumental album I own by Mark O'Connor, called The New Nashville Cats, which features a who's who of Nashville session players. I especially love the fiddle work on "Now It Belongs to You." Steve Wariner provided the vocals on that one. Remember back in the 90's when Mark O'Connor was winning the Instrumentalist of the Year award at the ACM & CMA Awards? They used to give out that award on tv, just like all the other awards. I wish they still honored the musicians like that nowadays, as there really are some talented players out there.

^ Most of these are not that well known by me but there are a few. -Monty Holmes I remember. He had a song called "Why'd You Start Lookin' So Good" in 1998. I believe he mad one or two albums, but I'm not quite sure. He also wrote some George Strait songs right? -Orrall And Wright I know only because they wrote "Get Outta My Way" by Carolina Rain. So I went back to their album and I liked what I heard. Unfortunately that was back in 2006 and I don't remember most of the tracks, but I know it was good. -Kevin Sharp I thought had some great music. Even his Make A Wish album was good in the mid 2000's. "I Think I'll Stay" I'm surprised didn't at least chart. That song is the definition of catchy. -Victoria Shaw is such a awesome songwriter. She co-wrote "Two Pink Lines" by Eric Church and "Outside My Window" by Sarah Buxton. That alone would make me a fan. But her artist work was fantastic as well. Her In Full View album was great and I still remember her songs "(A Day In The Life Of A) Single Mother", and "Cry Wolf". Don't forget, Victoria Shaw also wrote The River and She's Every Woman for Garth Brooks, Too Busy Being In Love for Doug Stone, and I Love The Way You Love Me for John Michael Montgomery. She should have been a major star.

^ I didn't know she wrote "I Love The Way You Love Me". That was one of the most heard songs by me when I was a little kid (5 or 6 years old). I didn't know who sung the song but I know people must have liked it cause it was on every time I would go out with my parents.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Zac Brown Band Single: "Colder Weather" Writers: Zac Brown, Wyatt Durrette, Levi Lowrey, Coy Bowles Album: You Get What You Give Label: Atlantic/Southern Ground Video Director: Darren Doane Year Released: December 20, 2010 Mediabase Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 (April 16-23, 2011)
If most of you have stepped outside today, I think you know why I felt the need to do this video ;). Zac Brown Band have been one of the biggest superstars in country music for the past 6 years. The group consist of Zac Brown, Coy Bowles, Clay Cook, Daniel de los Reyes, Jimmy De Martini, Chris Fryar, and John Driskell Hopkins. The band has gradually formed since the early 2000's in Atlanta, Georgia. Zac toured numerous venues around Georgia and the country and made his independent album Home Grown in 2004, along with starting his label of the same name (later changed to Southern Ground). They signed to Live Nation Artists in 2008. The debut single was "Chicken Fried". Zac first recorded the song for his independent album in 2003. The song also was recorded and released to country radio by the Lost Trailers in early 2006. But after only charting for a few weeks, Zac changed his mind and wanted the song for himself and had BNA pull the song from radio. "Chicken Fried would peak at Thanksgiving 2008 at #1. The second single was the future #1 "Whatever It Is" in 2009 (Mediabase only). In fact Zac and his group would not miss the top spot with their first 9 singles. The song that broke the streak was "No Hurry" (#2) in early 2012. During that streak they had the singles "Toes", "Highway 20 Ride", "Free", "As She's Walking Away", "Colder Weather", "Knee Deep", and "Keep Me In Mind". Their first five singles were off their Foundation album, and the ladder five were from their You Get What You Give album.
"The Wind" would be the lead single from their album Uncaged in 2012, but only peaked at #11, becoming the first single of theirs to miss the top 10. The other singles were "Goodbye In Her Eyes" (#1), "Jump Right In" (#2), and "Sweet Annie" (#1). They have so far sent 14 singles to country radio with 13 of those hitting the top 5 and 11 hitting #1. Their latest album Uncaged won 2013's best country album of the year at the Grammys. Zac has been known to speak his mind sometimes and in October, 2013, during an interview with a Vancouver radio station, he called out the recent trend on country music, and called That's My Kind Of Night" by Luke Bryan the "Worst Country Music Song I've Ever Heard". This was big news because of the fact an artist had called out one of his peers. Though since then both Luke and Zac haven't fully commented on the controversy. Zac Brown Band is expected to release brand new music in 2014 off a new studio album.
The video for "Colder Weather" features Australian actor Liam Hemsworth playing the male lead role. "Colder Weather" is not only my favorite Zac Brown Band song, but one of my favorite country songs since the turn of the century. The imagery in this song with lines like "Whispering Pines", "Truck Stop Diner Just Outside Of Lincoln" are fantastic. This song should be mandatory for every country station to play as a heavy recurrent during the Winter months :). My other favorites from them were "Goodbye In Her Eyes", "Highway 20 Ride", and "As She's Walking Away" with Alan Jackson.

I love ZBB (who doesn't?).
Just so consistently good. Own and love all their albums.
"Highway 20 Ride", "As She's Walking Away", "Sweet Annie", "The Wind" and the one you posted "Colder Weather" are my faves of theirs.
"Keep Me In Mind" is the only one I can say I outright dislike.

I love ZBB (who doesn't?). Me. ZBB are incredibly hit or miss for me. I absolutely adore As She's Walking Away, Keep Me in Mind, and Knee Deep, but most of their catalog I just can't get into. Colder Weather was a station changer for me (zzzzz) but I know I am super in the minority.

I swear they played "Sweet Annie" 30 times in a day when i was listening to the radio one day last week.

2011 was when I first started listening to country music. It shames me to say that I used to always make fun of my dad for listening to country music, but then I heard Zac Brown Band. ZBB got me into the whole country music world, and they remain my favorite current country act. They opened the doorway for me to experience some of the great country music I've been missing all these years, so ZBB will always have a special place with me.
Colder Weather is definitely my favorite song by them. The imagery, tempo, and passion all contibute to the "colder weather" feeling of the song. It's certainly one of my favorite country songs of the past 10 years.
Levi Lowrey, one of the writers of Colder Weather and The Wind, is also extremely talented. He's on the Southern Ground label with ZBB and released his super-underappreciated debut album I Confess I Was A Fool in 2011. His self-titled sophomore album comes out in February, and I could not be more excited.

I heard a song on my iPod shuffle today and had to share it.
Artist: Kip Moore Single: "Mary Was The Marrying Kind" Writers: Kip Moore, Dan Couch, Scott Stepakoff Album: Up All Night (Deluxe Edition) Label: MCA Nashville Video Director: Michael Maxxis Year Released: March 14, 2011 Mediabase Peak: #40 Billboard Peak: #45
Kip Moore is a country music singer/songwriter from Tifton, Georgia. He released his debut album Up All Night in April 2012, though this track was only included on the Deluxe Version. He moved to Nashville, Tennesse in 2004 and signed a record label with Brett James. He scored his first #1 hit in 2012 with "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck" and followed it up with 2 more #1's in "Beer Money" and "Hey Pretty Girl". He released the lead single, "Young Love" for his sophomore album in late 2013. Kip Moore has become one of my favorite artists in just a couple years, and this one may be his finest. His debut album is one was my favorite of 2012. And this biography isn't very good.

^ Yay, my favorite Kip song. But it wasn't about a truck, hence the success of his next single ;)
This actually peaked at #40 on mediabase believe it or not.

Wasn't Cyndi Thomson from Tifton, Ga too? Funny that such a small town would supply two artists who had incredible success with their first CD.

Here are a couple terrific (in my opinion) songs from the 1990, both of which somehow failed to make the Top 40. Proof that even back then the best songs weren't necessarily the highest charting songs. I thought of these as a result of the recent discussion about forgotten artists.
Artist: James Bonamy Single: "Naked to the Pain" Writers: Donald Pfrimmer, Richard Lee Wold Album: Roots and Wings Label: Epic Video Director: Chris Rogers Year Released: 1997 Billboard Peak: #65
James recorded two albums for Epic in the mid to late 1990s. His first album, What I Live to Do, produced four chart singles: "Dog on a Toolbox" (#64), "She's Got a Mind of Her Own" (#26), "I Don't Think I Will" (#2; his only Top 20 hit), and "All I Do Is Love Her" (#27). He had three more chart songs from his second and final album, Roots and Wings: "The Swing" (#31), "Naked to the Pain" (#65), and "Little Blue Dot" (#63). He left the music business (I don't know why) and worked at a communications company. He is now a worship leader for a church in Florida.
Artist: Ty England Single: "Smoke in Her Eyes" Writer: Hugh Prestwood Album: Ty England Label: RCA Nashville Video Director: Martin Kahan Year Released: 1995 Billboard Peak: #44
Ty is a former member of Garth Brooks' band who started his solo career in 1995. The first single from his self-titled debut album, "Should've Asked Her Faster," was the biggest hit of his career, peaking at #3. It sounds to me like a Garth song, and if I recall correctly Garth sang backup. The other singles from his debut album were "Smoke in Her Eyes" (#44) and "Redneck Son" (#55). His second album, Two Ways to Fall, had two chart singles: "Irresistible You" (#22; his final Top 40 song) and All of the Above (#46). He only had one more chart single, "I Drove Her to Dallas" (#53), from his third album, Highways & Dance Halls (recorded as Tyler England). One of the songs from this album was Travelin' Soldier (later a #1 hit for the Dixie Chicks; in fact, the #1 song at the time of the controversial comments that effectively ended their radio career). After a hiatus of over six years he released one final album, Alive and Well and Livin' the Dream, on an independent label. Two singles from the album failed to chart.
ETA: And matty005, the Gospel According to Wikipedia says that Cyndi Thomson is, indeed, a native of Tifton.

I've gotta leave a random video of the night as well :)
Artist: Scotty Emerick (featuring Toby Keith) Single: "I Can't Take You Anywhere" Writers: Scotty Emerick, Toby Keith Album: The Coast Is Clear [unreleased] Label: DreamWorks Nashville Video Director: Michael Salomon Year Released: 2003 Billboard Peak: #24
Scotty and Toby wrote the song "I Can't Take You Anywhere" and it was initially recorded by Toby himself, appearing on his Pull My Chain album--an album which featured 3 smash singles: "I'm Just Talkin' 'Bout Tonight", "I Wanna Talk About Me", and "My List". However, "I Can't Take You Anywhere" remained an unreleased album track.
Scotty eventually landed his own recording contract with DreamWorks Nashville, and he recorded an album, The Coast Is Clear, for the label. "I Can't Take You Anywhere" was Scotty's first single from the album, and Toby is featured with a bit of a cameo in the video as well. The song peaked at #24, and its follow-up, "The Coast Is Clear", stalled at #47. Shortly after that, DreamWorks closed its doors. Scotty would go on to sign with Toby's newly-formed Show Dog label, but he only released one single for the new label before they parted ways. He released an album independently in 2007, called Love Me Like My Dog. The song "Like My Dog" was later recorded and released as a single by Billy Currington and peaked at #24 for him in early 2012.
Despite leaving Toby's Show Dog label, Scotty remains good friends with Toby, and has often performed with him on tour. Scotty has written many songs for and with Toby, including such smashes as "I'm Just Talkin' 'Bout Tonight", "Beer For My Horses", "I Love This Bar", "Whiskey Girl", and "As Good As I Once Was". Scotty also co-wrote 3 of the songs on Toby's most recent album, Drinks After Work.

It still amazes me to this day why James Bonamy never took off, i thought he had some great songs. And his albums were very unique in lyrics for a 90's album.I always liked "The Couple" and "All I Do Is Love Her" the most, but really both albums had some really good material.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Alan Jackson Single: "That'd Be Alright" Writers: Tia Sillers, Tim Nichols, Mark D. Sanders Album: Drive Label: Arista Nashville Video Director: Steven Goldmann Year Released: December 9, 2002 Billboard Peak: #2
Let's not kid ourselves, Alan Jackson is a legend in country music. The 55 year old singer/songwriter has been making country music for as long as I've been alive. Alan signed with Arista Nashville in 1989 and released his debut single "Blue Blooded Woman" (#45) that same year. That would be the only single to miss the top 10 for Alan over the next 9 years. He went 27 straight without missing the top 10 and 26 of those hit the top 5. "Song For The Life" (#6) was the only one, and that barely missed the #5 slot. His first of those was "Here In The Real World" (#3), which was also the name of his debut album. The album produced "Wanted" (#3), "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow" (#2), and "I'd Love You All Over Again" (#1). "Don't Rock The Jukebox" (#1) which was the title track of his second album was released in 1991. Followed by "Someday" (#1), "Dallas" (#1), "Midnight In Montgomery" (#3), and "Love's Got A Hold Of You" (#1). The next album A Lot bout Livin' (and A Little Bout Love) would produce one of the biggest hit singles of the 90's "Chattahoochee" (#1). Throughout the 90's Alan would be one of the 3 or 4 biggest starts in the genre. Other well known singles of his was "Livin' On Love" (#1), "Gone Country" (#1), "I Don't Even Know Your Name" (#1), "Little Bitty" (#1), "Who's Cheatin' Who" (#2), "Little Man" (#3), and "Pop A Top" (#6) to name but a few. He would win the ACM Male Vocalist in 1994 and 1995. Along with CMA Entertainer Of The Year in 1995.
Alan was still going strong in the early 2000's with #1's such as "It Must Be Love", "Where I Come From", "Drive", "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere", "Remember When", and the heartfelt "Where Were You" in late 2001/early 2002. He would win two more CMA Entertainer Of The Year in 2002, and 2003. But Alan would soon slow down some in the mid 2000's. After having two top 5's with "Too Much Of A Good Thing" and "Monday Morning Church", he went three consecutive singles to miss the top 10, "Talkin' Song Repair Blues" (#16), "USA Today" (#17), and "Like Red On A Rose" (#13). All of those Mediabase peaks. His final string of chart dominance came during 2008-2009 with three #1's in "Good Time", "Small Town Southern Man", and "Country Boy". His final top 10 single was the mid 2009 peaking "Sissy's Song" (#9). His last top 40 was "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore" (#24), and his last charting single to date "You Go Your Way" (#41) in 2012. In all Alan has sent 63 singles to country radio with 49 top 10's, and 25 #1 singles. He has recorded 14 studio albums with 10 compilation's and two Christmas albums.
This video was directed by Steven Goldmann. The beginning of the video features Alan sitting with Joe Galante, who was head of Sony BMG Nashville at the time. They are listening to cinematographer Gerry Aschlag (who portrayed the director in the video) to his treatment ideas for the "That'd Be Alright" video. After the ideas were pitched, Alan says why don't you just shoot this thing without me. Aschlag then decides to stalk Alan (Bowfinger style) and get him in the music video anyway possible. Aschlag then has a dream about winning the video of the year award.
Alan's song "Livin' On Love" is probably the song that made me love country music the way I do today. It's a crying shame his radio career is all but over. To be honest most of his singles released since 2010 hasn't been much different than the singles earlier in his career. Alan's songs are littered through my Ipod, Iphone, and his CD's are scattered throughout my car. My favorites of his were "Here In The Real World", "Drive", "Chasin That Neon Rainbow", "Livin On Love", "Who's Cheatin Who", "Pop A Top", "It Must Be Love", "Small Town Southern Man" and "USA Today". "USA Today" is to me his most underrated song. I absolutely loved that single and was so bummed it flamed out at #17 in late 2005.

^Love the fact that Alan Jackson put his wife, Denise in the video. Nice tribute to the Chattahoochee video as well. Jackson certainly was heads and shoulders above all between 2001's Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning to Remember When in 2004. He could do no wrong there. Then the slowdown happened as you described it and he was back to #1 with Small Town Southern Man, Good Time, and Country Boy. I must say, at the four minute mark of the video, he looks awfully cute!

-The James Bonamy and Ty England songs were new to me and I enjoyed them quite a bit. I see the latter was written by Hugh Prestwood, whose name always means quality ("Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart", "The Song Remembers When", etc.).
-I haven't heard "I Can't Take You Anywhere" in years. Talk about a blast from the past. Great stuff. Shame Scotty's album was never released.
-Alan Jackson is one of my very favorite and most listened-to artists. I've been listening to him for as long as I can remember, and his music has meant so much to me throughout my life. Many, many excellent songs and albums to his name. If pressed, I'd say my favorite song is "Between the Devil and Me", and my favorite album is Under the Influence, but naturally it changes pretty frequently.

Scotty Emerick might be the most overlooked talent in Nashville. I've lost count of how many of Toby Keith's songs he has helped write. I loved his singing voice as well. I remember people joking back in the early to mid 2000's that Scotty was Toby's unofficial sidekick.
Two songs I remember as well was "The Watch" (#49), and "What's Up With That" (#43). The ladder had a strange chart peak. It only got to #52 on Billboard, but back then songs had to drop below the top 15, so you had a bunch of singles hanging on. But Mediabase was still the two week un-bulleted rule. So when "What's Up With That" final peak week came in 2006, there was a bunch of songs falling below him or going recurrent all together. Pretty weird to have a 9 spot difference.
