I don't like the first photo- way too much retouching- but yay at her releasing physicals!

Wowwww. Iβve never seen this performance before. NAILED IT. Just beautiful flawless vocals. It's sort of wild how drastically her live performances changed in just 1 year. "Hero" at Oprah a year after this was pretty poor. She definitely had some strong moments in the Butterfly era (like "Butterfly" on SNL), but they were clearly a struggle compared to the one you posted. She also developed that raspy tone in the Butterfly era; I liked that quality, but it also definitely showed a change was happening even though she was only in her late 20s. Anyway: He announced a new holiday album today, so I assume he was just using Mariah's gimmick as his own. I guess it's possible she's on the album, though, or that she will do his show. I wonder if she will finally do Kelly Clarkson's show this season.

Glad she didn't "IDKH" to "Hate U." Definitely a highlight on Memoirs.
I'll forgive her for going on about "Babydoll" because I've always really liked it. From what I've gathered, I don't think it's really been a favorite of the LAMBS, but I just love the vibe. There aren't many 5+ minute songs that I'll play to the end, but "Babydoll" is one of them.

That second verse of Hate U is iconic. The whole song is ironic.
I remember reading the now defunct " Mariah Daily" my source of Mariah news back in the day! That she played that song at a record label listening party and Riri said it was incredible song. I was so excited to hear it.

My love for "HATEU" is well-documented. With some of those lyrics I can see it having a viral moment at some point. "Babydoll" is definitely smooth and great, and Positive Tension at a minimum we don't talk about it as much as we should. I do understand her getting a bit confused because the lines in question are similar. I love "Stay the Night," but it's also her one song with Kanye so I can see her not having it on the top of the dome.

One day one day the public will circle back to one of my TOP Mariah albums. The rnb classic Emotions which had incredible production for its time, vocals that were pristine and out of this world and the singles are INCREDIBLY ICONIC
Emotions Can't Let Go Make It Happen
Couple of those should have been #1s rightfully more so than Shake It Off as people remembered that one being blocked.
She would have been ahead of the Beatles by now!

I know she cites Butterfly as her personal favorite for personal reasons, but I feel like she had a lot of creative control on Emotions and when it didn't sell as fast/strong as debut, that's when Tommy/the label took more control and steered her in a more AC direction on MB and Daydream.
She has consistently performed the singles from Emotions over the years + I'll Be There from the MTV Unplugged, especially with her recent circling back to Can't Let Go.
Also, "The Wind" is one of my favorite Mariah songs ever and I would be over the moon if she released a full jazz album someday.

This. Even the videos for "Emotions" and "Can't Let Go" stand in opposition to the image Mariah says was forced on her; I think that stuff started with Music Box, too, which is of course also when she married Tommy. My top 3 from Emotions: "Can't Let Go" "If It's Over" "Til the End of Time"

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think "You're So Cold" is the only song that doesn't hold up for me on Emotions. The other 9 tracks are timeless

Wanted to actively listen to music this evening, so I pulled out my Emotions vinyl after our discussion in here. Mariah's vinyls live in a separate container for songwriters in my house and Taylor Swift is the only other resident.

After reading a lot of information and seeing videos on my feed about Diddy, BeyoncΓ©, and Jay-Z, I really hope Mariah isn't connected to any of them if the allegations are true. I remember when Mariah left Jay-Z's record label, and she quickly denied any feud with Jay-Z or BeyoncΓ©. But I wonder if she shut it down so fast because she was scared, assuming these stories have some truth to them. I'll also never forget how BeyoncΓ©, despite mentioning Mariah as an influence early in her career, didn't name her in that remix song.

I'd forgotten the "Angels Cry" duet with Ne-Yo isn't on Spotify (at least not in the U.S.). What main/promoted remixes are still not on streaming?
"HATEU" So So Def remix "Up Out My Face" with Nicki Minaj "Angels Cry" with Ne-Yo
Those are all of course from MOAIA. Will #MC30 ever return? Lol
By the way, at least someone is pushing her on Someone's Ugly Daughter!
That seems to reinforce that she currently does not have a label. It also reinforces that Mariah is the hold up on a lot of these projects! Thank you, Matt, for noting she doesn't need to be mad because she's in control. Get her!

"HATEU" So So Def remix "Up Out My Face" with Nicki Minaj "Angels Cry" with Ne-Yo Those are all of course from MOAIA. Will #MC30 ever return? Lol It feels like she's essentially dropped MC30 in favor of these anniversary albums, which honestly seems to be better choice from a sales/statistics standpoint. That's why I wished she had (in addition to all that was done during MC30) released an anniversary edition of her debut album for MC30. Something like Live at the Tatou Club should have been tacked on her debut's anniversary edition to help it finally reach diamond status. That said, it's a shame that MC30 stopped right before MOAIA's week since there was material from that era (i.e. Skydiving) that I was hoping would be made widely available. What's also frustrating is that there isn't really a notable anniversary for MOAIA coming up any time soon. The lowest she's done for these anniversary editions, numbers-wise, is the 25th year. There does seem to be a chance that TEOM will get a 20th anniversary edition but even so, MOAIA's 20th anniversary isn't until 2029.
