If I may bring this over, She's done that a lot in the last decade where they film the video with the song playing at high speed and then slow down the footage to match the actual tempo of the song when they're editing. Unfortunately that also contributes to the appearance of her notoriously awful lip-syncing in videos. Is there a reason why that's done? |

Yay new Mimi thread opened by Pulse's grandest diva!!!  I really have high expectations for Mariah's new album! "You're Mine (Eternal)" totally restored my faith in this project. If songs like "#Beautiful," "The Art of Letting Go" and "You're Mine" are any indication this seems like it could be an eclectic collection of great songs. That's what I care for the most, not chart success; an album that will be a worthwhile addition to her already strong catalog of music, or better yet a "legacy protecting album" as B. Scott put it awhile ago. I love all of the songs we've heard so far, but I'm still looking from Mariah for something with more energy, for that killer upbeat song. A groovy jam like "Heart Attack" from Toni and Babyface's new album or a straight up club banger would do. Plus, I'm really curious to hear the song she wrote with DJ Camper... I hope it's a soaring ballad. |

The background vocals in the very beginning of the song/video is truly magical. Very hypnotic and beautiful...it gives me goosebumps. I didn't listen to the whole interview, just what was televised and bits of what was posted online. Nick doesn't seem to be as into the holidays/anniversaries, etc. as much has she is, though.

The dance mixes will definitely help with Pop airplay but Mariah is always going to have an uphill battle at radio now due to her age.
I just hope "You're Mine" goes Top 25 on the Hot 100 for Mariah's sake because I think she & JD would decide to push the album back again if isn't at least a moderate hit.

 Not people who spend no time in this thread showing up just to spout recycled, broken record shit about the "uphill battle due to age" tho. Out of curiousity: can anyone guess (a ballpark estimate will do) how many times that phrase has been trotted out every time Mariah has had a new single in the last decade? I'mma have to start ghostwriting people's posts and charging fees. I HIGHLY doubt there will be another pushback this time. There was never an official release date, just vague ones. Now that we have an actual date, I believe it will stick. |
