Hi lambs and expecially Mariah's team please cut it out with Oh Santa with Shouty and extremely gifted but loud Jennifer and whispering Ari. I actually much prefer the original.[ It was cute in the moment to get a MC + Ari on a track together but im tired 😩 br] What we need to do is promote quiet as it's kept her best original Christmas song Miss You Most. One she also wrote and that way she can corner the market in fun, happy AIWFCIY and sad , melancholy ballad Miss You. Stick it on to some Netflix show, promote it. Make that fetch not Oh Santa. I think it's Mariah herself you need to convince about that one - she's always had such a boner for Oh Santa. And such an anti-boner for making Miss You Most a melancholic Christmas moment. |

One live performance with Ariana and J Hud. equals trying to make Oh Santa happen? I mean if she is trying to make it happen she doesn’t put nearly as much effort into it as she should. While I would love to see the general public throw support to Miss You Most, we all know that isn’t going to happen as it isn’t the most cheerful of songs that screams holiday spirit. She has a great Christmas catalog that I find she balances well as far as rotating them around and highlighting them each season.

Careful that’s the No. 1 Adult Contemporary peaking Oh Santa y’all are talking about. (But yes, I wish she was more interested in some of her other really good Christmas songs. When Christmas Comes is my jam).

She has a video for both the solo version of "OS" and the trio version, and both versions were sent to radio. She also has a lyric video for the song. She made a point to highlight "Oh Santa" in her Hallmark movie by reworking it for a performance in that movie. She also got it used in that Tyler Perry holiday film. On top of that she performed "Oh Santa" in her ABC special, her Hallmark special, her Apple special, and her CBS special. She also performed it for the Rockefeller lighting, Disney parade, and on the Late Late Show. And yes, she also brought J Hud and Ariana out for a performance of it at MSG this year. She never really performs "Miss You Most" of course, and from what I can tell hasn't pushed it much (hell Kelly Clarkson talked about wanting to sing it on her show this year and hoped Mariah would license it, but she never performed it so did Mariah block it?). "MYM" doesn't even have a lyric video. She has put some work into "When Christmas Comes," which like cking33 I also love. She did do a duet version with John Legend and did a video for it, and she has performed it solo in some of her specials. I wish she'd gotten John to perform it with her for her Apple special or CBS special as that would have made it stand out more. |

If anything I feel like she should be pushing “When Christmas Comes” (original, sorry John) to the r&b/adult r&b audience. I don’t think she’s actually gone out of her way to try to make fetch happen with “Oh Santa!”. It’s the lead of her second Xmas album. Of course she’s gonna keep it around. I can also see why she doesn’t push CTIITA or MYMACT. They could cut into her AIWFCIY airplay on the AC side.

To be honest, I’m more at odds with Mariah’s lack of promoting deep cuts from her studio albums than I am with her lack of promoting other songs on her Christmas albums. When people and trends are promoting her hits like Fantasy or Vision of Love, she should always be throwing in, but if you love that song you should take a deep dive on the album and enjoy a song like Melt Away or Alone in Love.

^This is partially the reason why I believe she's the biggest solo artist ever on the Hot 100. No solo act has had this kind of success and longevity on the Hot 100. Mariah just passed Elvis and will eventually past Elton John. The point system seems flawed because there is no way that Madonna is a bigger Hot 100 artist than Mariah. Which begs another question. I'm not sure how Billboard computes it's Hot 100 points but it seems like the 80s points counted more than the 90s.
Not counting her other non-Christmas related future projects, how many more weeks at #1 would AIWFC would have to have to move up to #2 on the all time Hot 100 list? Because if it has to get over 25+ weeks than that would be ridiculous. lol

I just bought the dance versions on Amazon. I think that counts? It was done in 2009 right? My understanding is only versions done before it charted on the Hot 100 count, which would mean it doesn't count. At the same time I have seen people saying there is a dance remix that counts, so I'm confused. Original, So So Def, and 2009 Dance Remix all count. Bieber version does not. |

^ ^ ^ That 500k stat isn't true; the album never had a week where it sold that much in the U.S. Not sure why people just make shit up. ^ ^ Yeah sundaymorningguy that 'Christmas Classics' playlist is huge and gives older songs a big advantage; it's the only major playlist "AIWFCIY" isn't on, so I don't think there is much her team can do. One thing would be for Spotify to create a new playlist for songs from 1980-2020, though; why do they have a 1940-1980 one, but not one for the next 40 years? Maybe a 'New Christmas Classics' playlist would do well, and obviously having "AIWFCIY" on there (but not "RATCT") could help. |
