Another win for Slaydream which started it all, the blueprint Mariah would choose to follow in her subsequent eras. The word "icon" is overused and should only be reserved for artists like Mariah. I saw Katie Got Bandz is on the Freaky Girl remix by Nicki Minaj, but where will she be next year or even next month?

If only #1's could get to 6x platinum, she'd have platinum certifications at every number from 1 to 11. Oddly satisfying lol. Out of curiosity, would Butterfly have a better shot at getting to 6x platinum? It has been at 5x platinum for quite a while and could benefit with the 25th anniversary. Even if it stays where it is, it's been a great year for Butterfly, and I think it'll continue to earn even more accolades and importance as the years pass. |

It's great Mariah has gotten a lot of certs the past few years as other divas aren't so fortunate, but I don't get the randomness of her certs. For instance, "My All" sold 200k more physical/Soundscan singles than "Honey" and their last digital singles totals were basically even, yet "Honey" got a 2x platinum cert and "My All" did not. "I'll Be There" had a bit more Soundscan sales than "Can't Let Go," but "CLG" still sold over 400k physical singles and with digital sales and streams added in is easily Gold. "IBT" was certified Gold but "CLG" was not. "Obsessed" is very likely 4x platinum, but it wasn't certified the other day while "We Belong Together" and "Touch My Body" were. I'm pretty sure Merry Christmas II You should have been certified platinum like Memoirs.

Maybe the other label is waiting until after Christmas to certify the Merry Christmas II album? So hopefully MC II will be certified platinum sometime next year.
As far as the other certs for the singles, maybe there are some pending undisclosed issues with those singles, and they will take care of them at a later date when everything is straightened out.

Meanwhile I looked at the stats I have saved, and here is a listing of songs I think should/could get a new RIAA cert:
"My All"
Soundscan sales - 1.484 million
Digital sales - 83k as of April 2008
On demand streams - 72.5 million as of mid-2020 (=483,000 in sales)
Those figures give a 2.05 million total so it's 2x platinum (and has added sales and streams to that total).
"Can't Let Go
Soundscan sales - 423,000
Digital sales - 39k as of April 2008
So that's 462,000 total without including streams and missing 14 years of digital sales (not that it would be a ton, but considering how close that is to Gold even 5k sold makes a difference).
"Obsessed"
Digital sales as of early 2014 - 1.764 million
On-demand streams as of late 2021 - 301 million (=2.01 million sales)
So it needs to have sold 236k downloads over the past 8+ years (and less really since it has added streams in 2022 too) to be 4x platinum.
"I Don't Wanna Cry"
Soundscan sales - 261,800
DigitalĀ sales - 45k as of April 2008
On demand streams - 19.8 million as of mid-2020 (=132,000 sold)
That's equal to 438,800 with 14 years of digital sales and 2 years of streams missing. It might not be Gold, but it's at least pretty close.
"Shake It Off"
Digital sales - 829,000 as of early 2014
On demand streams as of mid-2020 - 117 million (=780,000 sold)
That's equal to 1.6 million sold, so with the additional sales and streams since those totals it has to be close to if not past 2x platinum.
