That's a great interview. I think we could still get something like that if she did an Oprah's Next Chapter type sit down. It's just that most of the times she's being interviewed nowadays it's when she's hawking some product so it's a lighter, more carefree vibe so she plays up the diva thing.
Mariah knows her audience and she will give fun, shady Mimi to Andy Cohen, hoodriah to 106 and Park and for the soccer mums on the View she gives basic answers and that's when she tones her personality down.
Mariah gift and curse is trying to appeal to everyone.

She reminded of someone's drunk aunt on MTV the other day. What audience does that appeal to? She should be consistent. Be about the music and avoid the drama. I think that's the best way to go. All this rambling coupled with her attempts to assert her legacy and the "I did it first" PSA she always gives is getting tired. It isn't a good look this day and age for someone trying to have continued success.

LMFAO @ Mimi shading the hell outta the video director saying she and the camera man shot the underwater scene and without that there would be no shots to cut away to. YASS get her together Mimi.

Mariah hired the director because she had "experience" with African and Costa Rican rain forests from what I heard. If this is how Mariah really operates, then it says a lot about the state of her career at the moment. It makes me think I could go up to her and be like Mariah I can play a couple notes on the piano let me produce a track for you.
I think she really after this album needs to decide what she wants to do with her career. I think this I am at a point where my legacy is cemented, so I am going to do whatever the hell I want is definitely dragging her work ethic down. She really needs to take a look at her team and decide who really is in it to win it, and then keep or fire based on that. I think troll (JD) is in it because he doesn't have a choice he would be in some serious financial hell if she didn't throw some coin his way, so he has to work or lose his meal ticket. The fact that she can't keep a damn manager for more than a year speaks volumes. She works with the same people because she can control them and that impedes her progress as an artist. I am tired of it either you trust people to do their job or you don't. If it doesn't work, then you know for next time.
After this era done I wanna see her go the Urban Ac route (Yes this is me being selfish because the music in that format>>>others) and make legendary classic urban music she is too incredibly important and has achieved way too much to be chasing hits anymore or watering herself down to fit in. Toni new album is where I want to see Mimi venture to and that way she can give a middle finger to the whole young girl dominated charts. Really though outside of us fans bragging rights does this woman need another major hit? Nope.

They're probably kicking themselves for not putting out the album last year on the back of '#Beautiful', considering it's likely to be the closest thing to a big hit she'll have from this album.

When I read Tommy's book, he said that his and his team's response to her wanting to go in a more Urban direction before Butterfly was telling her that she had the opportunity to appeal to all audiences and formats. I wouldn't be surprised if she absorbed those words deeper than she realizes and that is why she does this kinda thing today.

Yup like the whole good side/bad side was Tommy and team and that still stayed with her till today, things that reinforced over and over have a way sticking with you for a long time.

Can't believe this release date changing ... It's like she's afraid of releasing the album, I think she's to prideful of her past success ... That a album that might not even debut in the top 5 will have the media all over saying she's old, or out of date , or people just aren't interested no more....most female singers go through this at some point in there career ...Madonna had to go through this with American Life....but this is something Mariah does not deal well with.
Mariah doesn't have anything to prove to anyone at this point. Just drop the album and do that killer PROMO on TV and that will be it. The rest shall be the rest

Wasnt the album release date confirmed for may 6th ? Ive been listening to youre mine a lot this week, its ok, listenable but definitely nothing new. Could have been on EOM to be honest. Sounds like a mash up between all the similar type songs she has done before, decent album track but i cant see it doing much as a single. Her album at this point could struggle to sell 200000.

Mimi touted "the new era begins" in regard to July 23 ("#Beautiful" also was touted as the the new era starting), but then in late June of last year, she announced that that date was not happening, saying "While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23."

The most celebrated and important female artist of the last half-century. The world has been "hung up" on her since she announced to Dick Clark in 1984 that she wanted to rule the world. And RULE it she has...

On Monday (Feb. 10), Mariah announced that her untitled album will be out May 6 with a video that sums up her total diva dominance.
