So happy she gave us all these moments for the TEOM anniversary. If she does the same thing for the anniversary of the debut in June, I’ll lose it. Imagine snippets of “Alone In Love,” “Vanishing” and “All in Your Mind”! 🤩

I remember going to K Mart 15 years ago today to get the album before I went to work. The lady tried to give major 'tude because she hadn't put the albums out yet. I opened the boxes myself and bought 3 copies. I got on the bus and tried to get as much album in before I had to clock in. By the time she got to the chorus of "Mine Again" I was literally in tears. It remains one of my favorite albums of all time.
STAND OUT ALL TIME FAVS - "Circles", "Stay The Night", "I Wish You Knew", "It's Like That", "TO THE FLOOR" (yeah I said it!), "Your Girl" and of course, WBT.

Jay D83 I also enjoy and like To The Floor. I’ll take it any day over Say Something. And before anyone comes for me...

I always skipped To The Floor after I first heard it, and I've replaced with " I Feel It" once I learned about streaming sites.

TTF is harmless for me, I don’t mind it as an album track. Though I would’ve preferred a full version of Time Of Your Life instead (or as the lead single for E=MC2).

All this great TEOM nostalgia talk has me wondering what would’ve happened if she released E=mc2 soon after and track by track it was a true follow up... imagine:
E=MC2 (2007)
1. Time Of Your Life 2. Don’t Forget About Us 3. Migrate (ft. T-Pain) 4. You’re Mine 5. Side Effects (ft. Young Jeezy) 6. Make It Look Good 7. You Don’t Know What To Do (ft. JD) 8. So Lonely (ft. Twista) 9. When I Feel It 10. I’m That Chick 11. I Wish You Well 12. Cruise Control (ft. Damian Marley) 13. For The Record 14. The Art Of Letting Go
I think this tracklist could’ve even rivalled it’s predecessor

What was interesting in reading Mariah's interview about TEOM was that she mentioned she was thinking about "Shake It Off" as the lead single instead of "It's Like That." Even though "Shake It Off" is my favorite (not the best- that'd objectively be "Fly Like A Bird"), I can't imagine it would've done well as the lead single. It's funny that Mariah mentioned it did better on the charts without stating it was mostly because it followed up "We Belong Together" - it wasn't due to the strength of the song on its own.
I still underrate the importance of "It's Like That." While a #16 peak doesn't sound like much, I imagine that was a huge achievement when it was released. Oddly enough, I think it has held up fairly well over the years. I thought it would've been horribly dated by now.

Damn yall got me jamming to Mine Again. The power, the soul. TEOM was that girl then but now compared to these albums? A literal musical masterpiece
The soul. The old school vibe and the power behind those vocals.

Its #16 peak also doesn’t fully represent its success; it peaked at #10 in digital sales, and its airplay peaks were a bit spread out. I think had everything peaked more at the same time, it would have peaked around #10. It certainly helped pave some ground for “WBT.”

Yeah, I've always said that. ILT in a lot of ways was her real comeback single. She had been radio poison for years and there comes that song and it does really well almost out of the gate (outside the US as well, where Mariah just hasn't been big for a while).
ILT is so good still, loved when she closed out her first Vegas residency with ILT instead of "Infinity" (she looked great with the hooker boots on, that was a moment 💥), also the iHeartRadio performance in 2018 was HOT.

Say Something is my least favorite Mariah single. It's just so bland.

I feel like it's hard to appreciate the success of "It's Like That" unless you lived through it just looking at its chart peaks. She could barely register any of her singles on the airplay chart at all for the first half of the decade.. pretty much one single after another that was DOA.. then "It's Like That" came out and became a decent sized hit pretty quickly. It was her biggest radio hit since "Heartbreaker" in '99 at the time . Then of course "We Belong Together" was absolutely massive after that. That was such an exciting time to be a fan, especially after the prior several years with the complete lack of success and the state of her reputation.. it felt like overnight she went from someone you didn't want to admit you listened to to someone who had the biggest hit of the year (and then decade) and best-selling album of the year.. everyone was listening to her again.

Right. When it really set in for me was when the ratings for her Good Morning America was their biggest in years, and then when projections for the opening numbers of TEOM kept going up. People were so clearly ready for her to be back.

It truly was an amazing time to be a lamb. You described it perfectly. From 2001-2004 it felt like everyone was against her, and if you said you liked her music people looked at you like you were crazy. Then all of a sudden she started breaking airplay records left and right, and it was cool to like her. I remember checking the radio updates for WBT everyday and thinking I was in a dream or something.

I started talking my shit again when TEOM happened. Another era can never top it because even the biggest era's now last a month not a entire year!

Mariah and Bryan should make a campy at-home video for "Stay The Night".

One of my favs from Music Box! This is my JAM! Both this one and Now That I Know have aged horribly for me. I loved them both - especially Now That I Know - when the album was new. Up against all of her other albums, Music Box rates pretty low for me. I get it - it broke her as a true worldwide artist, and I think pop domination was the purpose of it. It's the most AC/Celine-like Mariah album, and that is not a plus for me.

Her voice had so much power during her debut era. It sounded it's best and most magical on Musicbox and Daydream but she became a complete artist and storyteller come Butterfly. A journey through her albums is such a snapshot of my life. I'll never get tired of ha!

I hope Mariah gives us a snippet of singing Butterfly live. I would probably cry if that was to happen.

All of this! It was so exciting to follow the charts and radio play, see her performing all the time, the release of remixes and videos. And so 👏 many 👏 award 👏 speeches. Didn’t she just start reading them from her blackberry in the end?! (although that might have been just the once...)
